    Automatic Software Installation

    Franklin Electric Pumptec Palmsotware requires the HotSyncManager 6.01 program to beinstalled on your Palm device.You can check your version byright clicking on HotSync iconon your PC and selecting About.From your PC run setup.exe andfollow the instructions. You willneed the user name associatedwith your Palm device.

    Choose the Handheld

    overwrites Desktop option inthe Pumptec Logs window.

    Check the Set as deaultcheck box.

    Select the device name romthe drop down menu andselect Pumptec Logs rom theCustom window. Click the

    button.

    Franklin Electric Pumptec Palmsotware requires the HotSync

    Open the palmOne Quick Installapplication on the PC.

    Select the user nameassociated with the targetPalm device.

    Close the palmOne QuickInstall program by clickingthe close button in the topright corner.

    Click the button.

    Connect the Palm device to your PC using a USB cable. Synchronize thePalm by executing the HotSync application.

    Check or the Franklin ElectricPumptec Remote Control icon onyour Palm device.

    From the Manual Installation Instructions older on the CD, copythe DataLogConduit.dll le to C:\DocumentsandSettings\AllUsers\ApplicationData\HotSync\Conduits. Then copy xlsgen.dll to the PalmHotSync Manager installation folder.

    To fnd the Palm HotSync Manager installation older, right click theHotSync Manager then choose Properties in the pop up menu.

    Click on the Target drop down menu. ThePalm HotSync Manager installation older willopen in a File Explorer window.

    Right click on the HotSync icon and selectfrom the Icon Tray.

    Choose the Handheldoverwrites Desktop option inthe Pumptec Logs window.

    Check the Set as deaultcheck box.

    Click the OK button.

    Select the device namerom the drop down menuand select Pumptec Logs romthe Custom window. Click the

    button.

    Getting Started

    The program will start by displaying theFranklin Electric System Solutions logo orthree seconds. The logo may be touched withthe stylus to end the wait period.

    Select the Franklin Electric icon by touching itwith the stylus.

    Once the program starts, themain Pumptec menu is displayed.The stylus may be used to selectone of several functions.

    The System Monitor

    To activate, select the SystemMonitor unction rom the MainMenu by touching the wordswith the stylus or navigatingto the words using the up anddown buttons.

    Once activated, the PumptecSystem Monitor screen displaysreal time data or:

    the present system status -

    pumping, idle, over/undervoltage, over/underload orrapid cycle.

    line voltage and motor current.

    the estimated motor loadin percent o service actorload (SFL).

    the antenna symbol indicatesthe Palm is communicatingwith the Pumptec.

    total motor run time.

    The Palm device IR transceivermust be pointed at the redwindow and be within two eetof the Pumptec unit.

    Pumptec System MonitorUnderload Example

    The system status indicatesan underload or dry wellcondition.

    The motor load isapproximately 48% of servicefactor load. The factory settingfor underload is 70% of SFL.

    The total motor run time,voltage and current aredisplayed and recorded in thePumptec ault memory whenthe unit trips.

    The fault timer will restart the

    Pumptec in 14 minutes and53 seconds.

    The button may bepressed i it is desired to startthe unit immediately.

    Pressing the buttonbrings up the Main Menu.

    Retrieving and Saving Fault History

    To retrieve the Pumptec ault history, select ornavigate to the words Get Fault History on theMain Menu.

    The Pumptec ault history memory records the last 15faults. These faults are retained even if power is lost.

    Once the Get Fault History unction is selected,the Palm will start retrieving the ault history romthe Pumptec.

    A status bar shows the progress of the data retrieval.Be sure the Palm is pointed at the red window onthe Pumptec unit.

    Touching will bring up ascreen with the fle name to besaved. The le name may bechanged if desired.

    Selecting will cause theMain Menu to be displayed.

    Selecting will return tothe fault history data.

    The Pumptec Fault Historyscreen displays the last 15 aultsrecorded by the Pumptec withthe most recent fault rst. Whena new ault occurs, the oldestfault is dropped. Faults areretained even if power is lost.

    Fault type. Total motor runtime.

    Line voltage, motor currentand power actor when thefault was recorded.

    Touching the arrow allowsthe screen to scroll to seemore faults.

    Touching the button willbring up a dialog box if youwish to save this ault historyto the Palm.

    Touching will bring up the

    Pumptec Create Log File screen.The fle name may be changedby selecting the text and usingthe keyboard or grafti pad.

    Selecting will return to thefault history data.

    To change the Pumptec voltage trip points,select Change Settings on the Main Menu.This will bring up the Settings Menu.

    Select Voltage Settings.

    The Voltage Settings screen allows the overand under voltage trip settings to be changed.

    Be sure the Palm is pointed at the redwindow on the Pumptec unit.

    The Voltage Settings screen needs to readthe settings stored in the Pumptec beore

    the settings can be changed. If the over andunder voltage numbers do not appear on thescreen, the Palm was unable to retrievethis data.

    The Palm device IR transceiver must bepointed at the red window and be within twofeet of the Pumptec unit.

    When a setting has beenchanged, a buttonappears. In this example, theover voltage trip setting hasbeen changed rom 253Vto 255V.

    The settings can also bechanged by using the stylus toslide the knob on the bar.

    I the voltage settings can not be communicated to the Pumptec, a ault

    screen appears indicating communications with the Pumptec could notbe established.

    The Palm device IR transceiver must be pointed at the red window andbe within two feet of the Pumptec unit. After making sure the Palm ispointed at the Pumptec, press the button.

    The Palm will attempt to send the voltage settings again.

    Changing Underload Settings

    To change the Pumptec underload trip point,select Change Settings on the Main Menu.This will bring up the Settings Menu.

    Select Underload Setting.

    The Underload Settings screen allows theunderload trip setting to be changed.

    Be sure the Palm is pointed at the redwindow on the Pumptec unit.

    The Underload Settings screen has to read

    To change the Pumptec underload timeout,select Change Settings on the Main Menu.This will bring up the Settings Menu.

    Select Fault Timeout.

    The Underload Timeout Setting screen allowsthe underload timeout setting to be changed.

    Be sure the Palm is pointed at the redwindow on the Pumptec unit.

    The Underload Timeout Setting screen hasto read the setting stored in the Pumptec

    before the setting can be changed. If theunderload timeout setting does not appearon the screen, the Palm was unable toretrieve this data.

    Clearing Motor Runtime Memory

    To clear the motor runtime memory, selectChange Settings on the Main Menu. This willbring up the Settings Menu.

    Select Clear Runtime.

    The Reset Motor Runtime screen allows themotor runtime reading to be cleared.

    Be sure the Palm is pointed at the redwindow on the Pumptec unit.

    The Reset Motor Runtime screen has toread the value stored in the Pumptec beoreit can be cleared. If the motor runtime isdisplayed as zeros, the Palm was unable toretrieve this data.

    The Palm device IR transceiver must bepointed at the red window and be within twofeet of the Pumptec unit.

    Clearing Motor Runtime Memory

    Pressing the button causes the Palm to transmit a commandthat clears the runtime memory in the Pumptec.

    Viewing Saved Files

    To view ault history and thedata log fle, select View Saved

    Files on the Main Menu. Thiswill bring up a list o flespreviously saved.

    Once View Saved Files isselected, a screen will appearthat has two tabs at the top,Faults and Data Logs. The Faultstab is selected by default.

    Select the Faults tab bytouching it. A list ofpreviously saved aulthistory les is displayed.

    Select the Data Logs tab bytouching it. A list of previouslysaved log les is displayed.

    Viewing Saved Files

    To view a saved fle, touchthe fle name then press the

    button.

    The Pumptec Fault History screendisplays the name o the ault,motor runtime, line voltage,current and power actor at thetime the fault occurred.

    Touch the arrow to movedown through the saved data.

    Touch the button todisplay the fle menu to selectanother le to view.

    Graphing and Data Logging

    To create a data log fle select Data Loggingfrom the Main Menu.

    This screen will graph data rom the Pumptecas long as the Palm is pointed at the redwindow on the Pumptec unit.

    The data is just being displayed and not beinglogged or saved. The Palm will sample datafrom the Pumptec about twice per second.

    Blank spots will appear in the graph icommunication between the Pumptec andPalm is lost.

    To begin logging data, select the buttonon the Palm.

    When the Create Log File screen appears, ale name will be automatically generated.I desired, the fle name may be changed byselecting the text and using the keyboard orgrafti pad.

    This screen will graph data romthe Pumptec as long as the Palmis pointed at the red window on

    the Pumptec unit.

    The data is just beingdisplayed and logged into afle on the Palm.

    To stop saving data to the fle,press the button.
