PROVIDING ACCESS TO QUALITY EDUCATION
Government of Punjab is focused on making quality education available to every child/youth. Recent initiatives at the school and higher education level are
transforming the State into an Education Hub. Punjab is amongst the Top 5 States in density of colleges/ universities in India and ranks 3rd in number of foreign
students.
RECENT INITIATIVES:
• > 2,700 schools have been converted to Smart Schools
• 6,855 smart classrooms in Govt. schools
• Grants to all state universities have been increased by 6%
• Wi-Fi services to be provided to all schools over the next two years
• English as a medium of instruction has been introduced in 6000+ Schools
• ~2 Lakh students have adopted English as a Medium of Instruction
Initiatives like Padho Punjab Padhao Punjab have resulted in Government Schools out-performing Private Schools:

An important component for a happy State are its healthy people. State Government has created a strong healthcare ecosystem through the promotion of excellent
medical education institutes (110+ nursing colleges, 15+ medical colleges, 20 AYUSH colleges etc.), expert medical professionals, world class health hospitals and
responsive health schemes. This has resulted in Punjab becoming a Healthcare Hub which is a favoured destination for Medial Tourism from countries like
Uzbekistan, Canada, Australia etc.

Amended Agriculture Produce Market Committee (APMC)
Act to ensure reforms and greater use of technology
Adopted e-NAM in 37 mandis and introduced single trading
license for whole of Punjab
Ensured hassle free procurement during last 5 crops adhering
to 48 hour deadline
