Purchasing Officer (Projects) - National Office
The Water Authority of Fiji seeks to recruit suitably qualified person for the position of Procurement
Officer. The successful candidate will be based at the National Office in the Finance SBU
PRIMARY JOB PURPOSE
The Purchasing Officer will be responsible for providing financial, administrative and clerical support
in order to ensure effective, efficient, timely and accurate financial and administrative functions to the
Purchasing Unit
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Requesting for quotations, preparing evaluation matrix, raising IRO, preparing Purchase Orders,
following u p o n orders, for stock items, consumables, office supplies, equipment and services.
Proactively liaising between suppliers and staff to resolve routine purchasing supply issues, ensuring
an accurate and timely provision of supplies.
Accurately maintaining the Company purchasing databases to high standards.
Negotiating with suppliers to obtain the best deal for individual products or longer term discount agreements
Ensures that all purchasing is in compliance with the Procurement Policy and Guidelines
Prepares the request for quotation and ensures the details required are correctly stated, also
ensures reputable suppliers are invited for the RFQ process
Maintains purchasing documents, files and records for the purpose of ensuring the availability of
documentation and compliance with established policies and guidelines
Reviews documents and data for the purpose of ensuring completeness and accuracy of purchasing process
Performs general and program specific clerical functions for the purpose of supporting the
departmental activities
Promotes and develops contact and liaison with suppliers
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
• Diploma in Accounting/Finance/Economics or in a related discipline with at least 2 year experiencein a similar
Role
• Excellent document handling skills;
• Good record keeping and reporting skills;
• Excellent written and oral communication skills;
• Strong proficiency in MS Office applications;• Loyalty and a high level of confidentiality.
REMUNERATIONRemuneration will be commensurate with relevant qualifications and experiences
