The latest issue of Vidya Vihar Times is in your hands. In this issue we have tried to place before you various Curricular and Co-curricular activities of the school since last reporting.

The credit for our achievements goes to our devoted teachers, dedicated non-teaching staff, sincere students and supportive guardians/parents.

Here, I would also like to take opportunity to caution the guardians/parents about harmful tendencies that has crept into the youth and adolescents of the society lately due to the overwhelming influence of feature-packed mobile phones with seamless access to internet and social media. The guardians/Parents may kindly refrain from providing these harmful gadget to their wards. However, We have a good leased line internet access in the campus for educational purpose.

Lastly, I congratulate the editorial team for their sincere efforts in bringing out such a useful edition.

I congratulate the School Editorial Team for bringing out yet another edition of our School Newsletter The Vidya Vihar Times

It is much more heartening to know that the Student members of the team have been given maximum creative freedom and most of the work has been carried out by them. It reminds me of Albert Einstein and his famous quote It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge. The teachers should act more as facilitators than active-doers in areas like these. Nine Tenth of Education is encouragement goes a popular saying.

Encouragement can really do wonders. It can ignite a fire within students to achieve their potential in life, and may even go beyond. The modern concept of Education is Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.Constant discouragement and rebuke can extinguish this fire. Mahatma Gandhi says Power is of two kinds. One is obtained by the fear of punishment and other by acts of love. Power based on love is a thousand times more effective and permanent then the one derived from fear of punishment. Forgive and Forget should be motto of all teachers for small misdemeanours if the student realises his mistake.

To sum up, The best teachers teach from the heart, not from the book and It takes a big heart to help shape little minds

Since its inception, it has been giving a platform to the students to unleash their creativity, to speak out their minds. Campus BuzzChildrens Day | 14th November 2014 A special programme was held to pay floral tribute to Pt. J.L.Nehru. Students from various houses paid eulogy to this architect of Modern India. Various games and sports were organized to commemorate this occasion in which there was large participation from students.

PT Competition | 18th December 2014Inter house PT Competition was held .In Junior Group, Dinkar won the trophy. In Sub Junior group Kautilya was the winner whereas in senior group Nehru House emerged as the champion.

Annual Atheletics Competition | 18th -

25th December 2014Inter house Atheletics Competition was held with splendid performances and exciting results. Many students got opportunity to test their atheletic skills.

CBSE Heritage India Quiz | 20th

December 2014 Three students Soumya Shandilya ,Udbhav Rajhans and Shubham alongwith their escort teacher, Mr. Nikhil Ranjan left for Delhi to participate in CBSE Heritage India Quiz 2014 telecasted on National Geographic. They fetched Laurels to school by achieving sixth rank at the National Level.

Entrance Test | 19th January 2015Entrance Test for New admission and Proficiency Test for old students was held.

Saraswati Puja | 24th25th January

2015 Saraswati Puja was celebrated with great pomp and show. The class nine students organized the program under the guidance of teachers. After puja, there was community bhoj for all in which students dicharged their part very well.

Holi | 6th7th March 2015Holi was celebrated in campus with colors and water. Students enjoyed a lot dissipating pressure of the session ending examination, then in progress.

Mass Painting with Jey-Meeanakshi |

20 March 2015 The students created a large wall painting by collaborating with each other under the guidance of famous Journalist Mr. Jey Sushil and his famous artist wife Mrs. Meenakshi Jey. The students also beautified some other campus walls through their artwork on this occasion.

Freshers Night-cum-Annual Academic

Awards | 24th April 2015 A short cultural meet was organized for the new arrivals to show their talent on stage. This was followed by award distribution to the Annual Academic achievers.

Rendezevous with Avengers | 10th

May 2015 The whole school visited a movie theater in Purnea and the students had a lifetime experience of watching a popular movie like Avengers with their chums.

Cryptic Word Puzzle | 30th June 2015Aviral (Xth ) and Ashutosh (XIth ) participated and achieved 3rd rank.

Bournvita Quiz Contest | 10th August

2015 12 students with their incharge teacher Mr. Rajesh Ranjan left for Gaya. They barely missed qualifying for national level.

National Children Science Congress | 11th

August 2015Two teams were selected for state level in which Abhinay and his team got first rank and Harsh and his team third rank.

Independence Day | 15th August 2015The day was celebrated with great patriotic fervour and had cultural presentation from many troupes. The items included human formations of Pyramid and Map of India.

Spic Macay | 20th August 2015Spic Macay organized a program for students, In which, Dr . Rajeeb Chakravarti and Mr. Pintu Das created a melodious ambience with their Sarod and Tabla Vadan.

Teachers Day & Directors Birthday |

5th September 2015 Teachers Day Celebration was organized by class 10th students. They discharged their duty very well. In morning session, gifts were presented to teachers. In the evening , the VVRS Family celebrated 80th birthday of our honorable Director, Mr. K N Vasudevan. More than 25 alumni of Netarhat Vidyalaya attended the programme.

Shramdaan | 2nd October 2015 Students and teachers volunteered to keep alive the dream of Gandhiji for a clean and green India. All the students from classes 4 to 10 enthusiastically participated in our Swachchha Bharat Abhiyaan.

To Kunti, Pandavas were born,As the emperor they were to be sworn.But the jealousy of someone,Couldnt let the empire runKauravas had their beautiful palace,And, Pandavas their forest-placeBut with their labour and fate,Khandawvan showed Indraprastha gate

But Duryodhan couldnt see them well,For him their happiness was hellTo snatch their empire and gold,To play game with him, he called.Shakuni was the mastermind,He had a wicked plan of his own kind.Shakuni had an axe to grindGreed made Yudhisthir blind.To Kauravas everything he gave,And Pandavas were their slave.The kings were now without a land,Their queen was in a dirty hand.Draupdai who was born to fire,Was now in a situation direDuryodhan dragged her along,In front of the throng.

She was being insulted amidst humor-wry,No one lent their ears to her cry.Pandavas quietly closed their eyes,Elders were silent, sage and wise.

But the only one who could see,Helped the helpless Draupdi.Duryodhan tired, Dushashan tired, Tired were Hundreds of hand,But the clothes she wore didnt come to end.

But Pandavas had lost their game,Situations wasnt the same.

The prevailing method of teaching mathematics has led to the strong conviction that the long established approach to the subject does not make them feel at home with it.It is obvious that, whereas the majority of children show more interest in the other subject and they are actively enthusiastic about them, there is little evidence of such an attitude towards mathematics , still the traditional approach is maintained in teaching mathematics . The rigidity of this approach , is drifting away the students from the natural interest in the subject. This is one of the major factors which contributes to their unhappiness and boredon while studying mathematics. The learning by doing method of the teaching mathematics helps children understands mathematical concepts and apply them in understanding related situations. They are not based on theory alone, but they grow from activity work and provide opportunities to make and express their own discoveries and observations.

Another important aspect of teaching mathematics is discussion among the children. Discussions, whether with the class , group or individual, not only leads to integrated studies, but also provides opportunities for exploring relationships between various concepts. Through discussions, children come out with a variety of ways of solving problems and this flexibility increases their confidence. The laboratory approach of learning mathematics is based on the famous Chinese proverb :
