Please pass this General Technical Specification to your Production / Technical Managers for careful consideration. The following General Technical Specification constitutes a contractual requirement. Failure to provide any of the following (unless substitutes are agreed by mutual consent in writing between the promoter, the Venue and Sadler’s Wells at least four weeks prior to any performance) will constitute a breach of contract leaving the promoter liable to pay all negotiated fees to Sadler’s Wells, who will be entitled to cancel any performance. Definitions: The Production or PUSH – the complete production consisting of the ballets Solo, Shift, Two and Push. The Company – Sylvie Guillem, Russell Maliphant and the Production Personnel provided by Sadler’s Wells STAGING • The Production requires a minimum flat dancing area of 14 metres wide by 14 metres

deep, with a minimum of 2.5m wing space on either side. • The stage must be a sprung floor suitable for dance. • Matt black dance lino taped with matt black dance floor tape. The strips of dance floor

must be laid across stage but must reach into the wings. • Five pairs of black legs to hide the side lighting booms. • A white wall or flat surface measuring 10m wide by 5m high. • The upstage masking blacks should be a pair of black tabs that can be drawn over the

white wall. • The ability to fly masking, lighting bars and screens above the performance space. • The stage should be heated to maintain a minimum temperature of 23°C for all warm-ups,

rehearsals and performances as listed in the schedule. • Adequate access equipment (ladders, cherry pickers etc) in order to rig the lighting and

focus etc. • The ability to hang or build set as the repertoire demands. • All materials must lie or hang flat, be matt black, be clean and free from torn edges. • 2 ballet barres. • If truss is used then parts of the truss will have to be covered in black material to reduce

light bounce Important Note: The Company requires exclusive, uninterrupted access and use of the stage and auditorium during the Engagement for the purpose of technical work and/or rehearsals. No other events are permitted use of the stage and/or auditorium during the period of the Engagement without the written consent of the Company.

Push requires that lights can be positioned above and behind the performance space. In order to accommodate this, ground support truss is generally required. Below is an example of the minimum requirements.

NB – Shift requires that 6 lamps are set along the front edge of the stage, at stage level. This in some venues may affect audience sight lines. These lamps are set from the start of the performance and cannot be repositioned or moved until the interval Set: White wall built 10m wide by 5m high. The wall can be larger and the

extra area blacked out. The white wall will be covered by the black tabs for all the other pieces

SOUND • Playback

2 x Professional CD players (Denon DN 680, Tascam CDU1 Pro, Sony CDP D11 or equivalent) must have autocue and auto pause functions 1 x Professional MD Player (Denon DN M2300R, Sony MDS E12 or equivalent) must have autocue and auto pause functions

• Control Yamaha DM 1000 or LS9 or equivalent:

Stereo 48 way graphic equaliser for FOH Mix (Klark Technics) or equivalent

• FOH PA System must be capable of loud and clear reproduction of all frequencies from 28 Hz – 22Khz up to 121 db, free from any distortion, hiss or interference to all parts of the auditorium (L acoustics or D&B). Minimum requirements - Bass bins set either side of stage, 1 set mid range on top of bins and another pair flown above stage.

• Onstage Monitors 4 monitors on the floor to provide clear sound reproduction onstage of the FOH Mix. Monitors to be set in Bay 1 and 4

• Intercom System An intercom system to provide vocal communication from both sides of the stage to the flys, lighting desk and sound desk

The Company will operate sound. The sound control position has to have a clear view of the whole stage and be able to clearly hear the audience sound levels; an internal/sound proof control room can not be accepted.

DRESSING ROOMS AND WARDROBE The Company requires: • 3 dressing rooms to provide changing space for 2 dancers (1 male, 1 female) and 1 for

Masseur / Physio. • 1 x Technical Office and 1 x Company Office. Both the Technical Office and the Company

Office should have access to an incoming and outgoing phone with international access (not a pay phone), fax machine and photocopier. The Company travel with portable computers but ask that the Venue provide a link to the Venue’s internet connection. The Company Manager will require access to a safe for valuables.

• The dressing rooms for the dancers should be heated and equipped with chairs, tables, mirrors, mirror lights and hot showers. Tissues and fresh towels must be provided daily.

• A wardrobe space / laundry equipped with a washing machine, tumble dryer and a steamer, iron, ironing board, costume rail and hangers. The Venue shall be responsible for providing and paying for laundry consumables and any specialist cleaning (which is minimal).

• 7 x 1.5 litres bottles of still mineral water per performance. • A selection of fruit (specifically bananas/ grapes), cereal bars or biscuits for Miss Guillem

and Mr Maliphant on each performance day. • All dressing rooms / office spaces must be available to the Company and secure from

unauthorised personnel from the load in until the end of the get out. REHEARSAL STUDIO • We require the use of a dance studio with CD player, dance floor, barres and mirrors for

rehearsals to be available 12.00 to 18.00. • The dance studio needs to be as close to 14 metres wide by 14 metres deep as possible.

Anything smaller must be checked and agreed with the company in advance. • The rehearsal studio will not be required after the first performance if stage area is

available and suitable for daytime rehearsals (covered and air conditioned in hot countries).

LIGHTING For the lighting of the Production we require complete blackout onstage. This will require all working light to be switched off and may involve covering emergency lighting. Light leak from emergency exits in the auditorium will also have to be reduced. Please ensure all relevant licenses and permissions are obtained beforehand

orchestra pit and 6 FOH). • Strand 500 series desk capable of controlling 512 channels and the ability to record 300

cues and provide accurate playback. Possible alternatives, subject to agreement and only if provided with a qualified programmer, include a GrandMA or ETC EOS. Under no circumstances will we use an ADB or a Transteknic lighting desk.

• 10 lighting booms (5 either side) 3 metres high allowing rigging of lanterns at lens heights of 200mm and 2000mm.

• The ability to provide a total blackout onstage with no light leak from FOH. • Venue will provide all lighting filters. ‘PUSH’ can supplement where applicable at a cost to

the promoter / Venue. • The Company with operate LX.
