LEGACY OF PVKK INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY

PVKK Institute of Technology is the brain child of Dr. Palle Raghunatha Reddy Garu, Who is the Chairman of "Sri Balaji Educational Society" which runs more than 40 Educational Institutions across the Anantapuramu district in Andhra Pradesh.

PVKK Institute of Technology is a Self-financed, Unaided Co-Education Institution established in 2008. The Institution is established with an objective of imparting quality technical education along with the requisite personality traits and thereby to carve young Indians into dynamic and most talented engineers matching the needs of the contemporary industries of software and core sector.

The College is a little away (just 3 km) from the din and bustle of Anantapuramu city. The college offer B.Tech programmes in 5 branches of Engineering- Civil, Computer Science, Electronics and Communications, Electrical and Electronics and Mechanical. The college also offers 6 Post Graduate programmes in Digital Electronics & Communications Systems, Computer Science Engineering, Structural Engineering, Electrical Power Systems,CAD/CAM and MBA.

The college is setup with state-of-the-art instructional and infrastructural facilities. The main forte of the college is its well experienced, erudite and committed faculty members. The campus has spacious play grounds and encourages sports such as cricket, basket-ball, football, volleyball, throw ball etc., The College has well furnished hostel for both Boys and Girls within the campus. The College provides transport facility from Anantapuramu city for day-scholars.

Empowering women is empowering the family and in turn empowering the society, thereby strengthening the whole human race. In fact, everyone is to be involved in making gender equality happen and maintain it in all aspects of life.As a matter of fact, the Government of India has adopted a policy of zero tolerance towards gender based violence and harassment in the educational institutions. It has rolled out many sensitization programs to uplift their general status in the society and research oriented programs exclusively for women.I am glad to be part of this function arranged at your esteemed institution which has a Women Correspondent cum Secretary par excellence, a standing example to show cause the women empowerment. Editors Desk It is with much joy and anticipation that we celebrate the launch of bi-annual magazine CANAVASImagine to Explore Invention. It gives a wonderful experience to work with this prestigious PVKK institute of Technology. Our goal is to create a new forum in the campus for exchange of information on all aspects of Human Civilization, History, Science, Technology, Creative Imagination etc., No doubt it is an excellent platform where all the student friends can exhibit their talents.

4. SAVE GIRL CHILD (Short Story) A man stopped at a flower shop to order some flowers to be wired to his mother who lived 200 miles away. As he got of his car he noticed a young girl sitting on the curb sobbing.He asked her what was wrong and she replied, I wanted to buy a red rose for my mother.But I only have 75 cents, and a red rose cost 2 dollars.The man smiled and said, come on you in with me. Ill buy you a rose.He bought the little girl her rose and ordered his own mothers flowers. As they were leaving he offered the girl a ride home. She said, yes, please! You can take me to my mother. She directed him to a cemetery, where she placed the rose on a freshly dug grave. The man returned to the flower shop, cancelled the wire order picked up a bouquet and drove the 200 miles to his mothers house. By

5. HOW DELICATE YOU ARE? (Short Story) Once upon a time there was a prince who wanted to marry a princess; but she would have to be a real princess. He travelled all over the world to find one, but nowhere could he get what he wanted. There were princesses enough, but it was difficult to find out whether they were real ones. There was always something about them that was not as it should be. So he came home again and was sad, for he would have liked very much to have a real princess.

One evening a terrible storm came on; there was thunder and lightning, and the rain poured down in torrents. Suddenly a knocking was heard at the city gate, and the old king went to open it.

It was a princess standing out there in front of the gate. But, good gracious! what a sight the rain and the wind had made her look. The water ran down from her hair and clothes; it ran down into the toes of her shoes and out again at the heels. And yet she said that she was a real princess.

Well, we'll soon find that out, thought the old queen. But she said nothing, went into the bed-room, took all the bedding off the bedstead, and laid a pea on the bottom; then she took twenty mattresses and laid them on the pea, and then twenty eider-down beds on top of the mattresses.

On this the princess had to lie all night. In the morning she was asked how she had slept.

"Oh, very badly!" said she. "I have scarcely closed my eyes all night. Heaven only knows what was in the bed, but I was lying on something hard, so that I am black and blue all over my body. It's horrible!"

Now they knew that she was a real princess because she had felt the pea right through the twenty mattresses and the twenty eider-down beds.

Nobody but a real princess could be as sensitive as that.

So the prince took her for his wife, for now he knew that he had a real princess; and the pea was put in the museum, where it may still be seen, if no one has stolen it. There, that is a true story.

6. GIRL CHILD-FUTURE OF INDIA -C.B.NEELIMA, CRT

India is growing powerfully in every field. Today, the boom in economy, innovative technologies and improved infrastructure has become nations pride. The country has witnessed advancement in all fields but bias against a girl child is still prevailing.

A child is a beam of sunlight from the infinite and external, with possibilities of virtue and vice. Where a child lives in freedom, real development there exists. Preservance and inspiration often leads to privilege but with one hard work and dedication there will be no success. The hardest profession to take in life is being a girl child. Discrimination and disprecipancy are two most important factors that hamper the journey of every female from the earliest stage of life. Starting from her Preservance into her mothers womb to infancy, childhood and finally to adulthood, she is outnumbered by the made dominating society of the country.

India is a country where social disadvantage out weights natural biological advantage of being a girl. A whole range of discriminatory practices including female feticides, female infanticide, female genital mutilation, son idolization, early marriage and dowry system have previewed the future of the nation. In India, discriminatory practices have greatly influenced the health and well being of girl child, resulting in a higher mortality rate .It is believed that every year 12 million girls are born in the country but unfortunately only 1/3 of them survive. Some killed in the womb, some at the time of birth. Some die due to ill health and some due to poor nutritional status. Only few members of girls are able to survive till their 15th birthday.

Female feticide and infanticide are the most popular social evils prevailing in our country. This evil is due to poverty, illiteracy and gender discrimination. The country fails to understand, how A mother can be so ruthless and vulnerable. It is said that God created mothers because he could not be present everywhere. In India there are many Goddesses where people worship o lot. Even our nations name carries a woman in it as BHARATHA MAATHA. In olden days there was a belief that, if a girl is born goddess LAKSHMI is born. It is unbelievable to realize that god representative is being killed even before she can come out and see the beauty of nature. Its painful to see that the treatment still exists in various parts of the country. States like Maharashtra, Haryana, Rajasthan, Tamilnadu and Punjab are most popular for practicing female feticide and infanticide.

The evil practices are influencing the nutritional status of a girl child as per the latest Indias. There about 75 millions malnourished children. It is estimated that 75% of the total malnourished children are girls who show signs of chronic and acute malnutrition.


Exacerbate discrimination against females for nutritions and education has led to increase in child marriages, reduction in fertility rates and population growth, potentially womens participation in nurturing the future of every nation.

The government of India taking different steps to wipe out these evils from our map likes 35% reservation for woman, Beti Bachao programs,Bangaru Thalli scheme etc.,

We are proud to be a citizen of India .The need of the hour is to realize our responsibilities and half the evil crimes .A determined drive can create a spark just the lamp and show to the world that we are all part of this great country.

Girl child is the future of every nation and India is no exception. A little amount of care, a handful of warmth and a heart full of love for a girl child can make a big difference close your eyes, free your thoughts and hear the low voice of it is saying something to all of us,save me.

Lastly here is saying Bitter are the tears of a child; Sweeten them.

Deep are the thoughts of a child; Quite them.

Sharp the grief of a child; Take it from her.

Soft the heart of child; Do not harden it.

7. History of womens day (March 8th) The International womens day was started a century ago; The foundation for

this movement was a revolution caused by the female workers on those days. In 1909 the first national level womens day was conducted on February 28th by American people.

Later, in 1909 the first international womens day was celebrated. This occasion was followed by European Union in 1911 of March 19th. During the period of 1913, Russia had conducted the womens day by opposing the First World War.

In 1914 on March 8th all the European countries condemn the world war and most of the women had participated in rallies for promoting peace. The tradition was continued by the Soviet Union and European countries by conducting the womens day on every year of last Sunday in the month of February. After a long period the united nation organization (UNO) had declared that 1975 is the year which is dedicated to all the women in the world. Also they have celebrated womens day on march 8th in that year itself. Later in the year 1977, the UNO identified women as a power in the society and declared March 8th as the world womens day.

From that beginning, without any consideration of nations, traditions and languages all over the world is celebrating the womens day, on March 8th of every year.

8. WOMEN ERA ON THE EVE OF WOMENS INTERNATIONAL DAY

Where the women honored there the Gods appear. This is true in this aspect. They should create events in history. They maintained the family in an excellent manner. They stood for affection, devotion, commitment and everything without the women there is no life. We could see her as a daughter, daughter-in-law, mother, sister-in-law, granddaughter, aunt and as a wife. So, she should be given much prominence in the society. They were equal to us. They were advancing well in the society by doing social service to human beings by driving autos in cities, driving the aero planes, doing social services to the human beings, women welfare officers and also serving people by acting as police personal creating a great record in the history.

Safety should be given in the society education should also be given to her. Parents should see equal whether a female child or a male child police personal should take action immediately when they lost their lives in other way and punish the victims.

With this only we should give a reward to her. She is as sensed as heroine in our lives and sacrifice entire life to us. I wish a happy and cheerful womens International day.

9. WOMEN EMPOWERMENT: CHALLENGES AND PROSPECTS India, the sub-continent, is indubitably a great country of miscellaneous cultures, traditions, religions, castes and geographical characteristics. However, India is even known for its sobriquet male-chauvinistic nation. Its Bharath Maatha who is in turn a woman that serves as the mother of every Indian. While such a woman looks after every Indian child, women in general are simply being disregarded at the dominant mens best. Men ought not to forget the fact that men are in Women. Women are no less than men in India in any sector. Women are not what they really were. Some decades ago, women were limited to the kitchen. Today, Indian women have made their presence felt virtually in every field. Women have ultimately come out of their saree image and entrap the nation by dint of their hard work and power. Women empowerment is in fact the ability of women to exercise full control over once actions. Empowerment of women in India is conspicuous by many new examples. But is that all? Are only those women empowered? If not, how about rest of the Indian women world? Are the common women vested with powers to revolution? These above questions, if posed to our so called lead as, would simply be parried. Women have become marionettes in the hands of them

Pratibha devising patil is the first women president of India and is actively working for the upliftment of Indian women. The year 2009 witnessed the history written moments in Smt. Meira kumari became the first Indian women to hold the office of the Loksabha speaker.

Women empowerment can be achieved chiefly through health and education.HEALTH IS WEATH. Basic sanitation facilities, adequate medical camps, government health schemes would be conducive to bring about a major change. According to national literacy mission, referring to the last census held in 2001, the percentage of female literacy in the country is 54.16%. it is noticed that female literacy rate has also increased from 8.86% in 1951 to 54.16%. it is noticed that the female literacy rate during the period 1991-2001 increased by 14.87% various male literacy rate rose by 11.72% enrollment of girls in schools makes a huge difference in transforming the nation.

Women are no less than outstanding, be it in business, politics, entertainment, sports or whatever they must be provided with ardent invigoration and their spirits must be kept high to term from the dictionary. Like Sarojini Naidu, Jhansi Lakshmi Bai and Indira Gandhi who exemplified women empowerment with their deeds, let us expect many more epitomes of such personality traits.

10. WHY DO WOMEN SUFFER???

In modern Indian country is fast emerging as a global power but for half of its population. The women across the country. Struggle to live life with dignity continues. Women, irrespective of their class, caste and educational status, are not safe in the modern society women have been the victims of exploitations since long time in different fields in their life both physically, socially, mentally and economically. There are several causes of abuse which are very often highlighted by the media in Indian modern society, and a lot of those also remain unexplored. Although, such violence against women, sexual harassment, and exploitation to women is not of recent origin, its trace is found in the history of ancient India. Women are


facing many problems in every sphere of life whether employment, access to health care or property rights. India is fast developing and but womens in India continue to be discriminated. Women are being harassed at work places and tortured in family and society. In Indian family the man is the master and women the inferior and subordinate partner and societal pressure force

women to maintain this status quo. Wife beating is the most prevalent form of violence against women in the Indian society and it is viewed as a general problem of domestic discord.

Though the status of women in India, both historically and socially has been one of the respect and reverence, but the hard truth is that even today. They are struggling for their own identity, shouting for diffusion of their voices and fighting for their own esteem. Every day, they cross among the fears and fraught for individuality. Despite the constitutional guarantee of equality of sexes, rampant discrimination and exploitation of women in India continues. The incidence of dowry deaths, women sexual harassment, molestation and ill-treatment of women are on increase. It is high time now that women should get a respectable and dignified position in the Indian society. Awareness in the women as well as society should be created and their equal rights should be effectively implemented. Crimes against women should be made punishable and a in the era of globalization and with revolution in means of communication and information technology, The media role has become more crucial for women empowerment in Indian modern society. In modern society changes have been taking place in everywhere in almost every field but to protect honor of women. International women day is celebrated, a number of women organizations have been working for women freedom and empowerment. But all of those are external in nature as mentality is the product of society and culture. In the same family, a boy gets more liberty than a girl. Moreover, there is a lack of security of girls in Indian society. Recently a film BBC documentary Nirbhaya Indias daughter made by a foreigner is banned in our country .Why? Previously there was something which should not be shown in the film but now its modified. It can be shown to everyone. Its just an interview of some experts views and the girls parents talk on Nirbhayas case. In Indian modern society it is very much essential to all women issues in any society and in any circumstances, In order to alive with honor , education will only give them strength and societal status. This will increase the women smooth living in modern society. Every women has a fundamental right to be safe protesting injustice, if a woman is able to protest herself with the right and education, then they protest her life becomes miserable. It should be remembered that the socioeconomic empowerment must be ensured by the nation to minimize the exploitation which can help to improve the status of women. The recent gang rape has created a fear among women, which I think is a very unfortunate and serious thing. The court should consider this fact and a speedy trial resulting into the harshest punishment possible for those animals who are committed the heinous crime, will if not remove that fear, will at least ensure that a person will think before committing such a crime. The fear should be in the mind of the offenders not the innocent people and hope our judiciary will understand the gravity of the situation and will ensure that the correct judgment without taking much time is made. Finally the


0offender may set free, and the victim may treat as offender a marvelous India. May god punish the guilty? Thats my prayer ,

STOP SUFFERING FEMALE.BE A HUMAN NOT AN ANIMAL

11. WOMENS EMPOWERMENT Women empowerment is a debatable subject. At earlier time they were getting equal status with men. But they faced some difficulties during post-Vedic and epic ages and today women constitute almost 50% of the worlds population but India has shown disproportionate sex ratio where by females population had been comparatively lower than males. At least this time if the government ensure freedom and equality for women so that they can flourish, because we- women cant succeed when half of us are held back with the reasons based on cast, creed, religion, illiteracy soon.

But from early twenty century their status have been changed slowly and gradually for that even the constitutional makers and nation leaders also strongly demand equal social position of women with men. So, today we can see that the women occupied the respectable positions in all walks of the fields.

India has seen a lot of growth and it is in a position of power. We- men and women must act decisively to capture this opportunity. we need to think big and develop in the fields of education, infrastructure, industrial and financial services.

Employment of women would mean equipping women to be economically independent, self- reliant, have positive esteem to enable them to face any difficult situation and they should be able to participate in development activities. The empowered women should be able to participate in the process of decision making.

To sum-up, women empowerment cannot be possible unless women come with and help to self-empower themselves. There is a need to formulate reducing feminized poverty, promoting education of women and prevention and elimination of violence against women. So I think, we can speak for our rights and we will bring change through our voice.

12. I SEE MANY GODDESSES Mother is one of the most powerful in the world. In means that she was shakti. Even the god must born from the mother womb. The mother will rectify the mistakes what the children may do. The children or anyone can express views to their mother open heartedly. The food which prepared by the mother will be equal to the Amrutham. Mother will give proper suggestions about life in the world. Mothers lap is heaven to her children.

Every winning persons behind they must be women. After the marriage women walks seven steps along with men it means they must share their views to each other.

The lord shiva gives half body to parvathi. In Indian culture, we are treating the elder brothers wife as his mother. And younger brothers wife as daughter.

In India we are celebrating a festival named Raksha bhandan which shows the relation between brother and sister affection. We are treating daughter as Goddess to the home.

13. WOMEN IN THE CONSTITUTION The word women have special focus in the constitution. The greatness of

women cant be described in words. Women are the only source for the human being in the world. They start protecting us from womb onwards. There is no another creature of god that occupies a place of women in the world. Word will be less to describe the greatness of women. Thats the reason our Indian constitution gave such great place for them.


RIGHTS OF WOMEN:

Under the articles 14&15 of constitution of India. It is clear that the fundamental right a women to be have its particular right of life and to live with dignity under article 21 which says right of (or) to a safe environment free from harassment in the society.

There are the rights for women and girl in the society for the equality and development of women.

Article 19(1)g of the Indian constitution affirms the right of all citizens to be employed in any profession of their choosing or to practice their own trade or business.

ARTICLES OF WOMEN HARASMENT:

Prevention, prohibition and redressed for this there is an act held in 2013 and named as act2013.Act 2013 is a legislative act in India that seeks protect women from harassment. It was passed by the Loksabha (1 over house of the Indian parliament) on 3 September 2012 and it was passed by the Rajyasabha (higher or upper house of the Indian parliament) on 26 February 2013. There were some rules has been included is it and they are as follows.

1) The bill got the assent of the president on 23 April 2013. 2) The act gets force from 9 Dec 2013. 3) This statute suspended the Vishakha grid line for prevention of harassment introduced by

the supreme court of India. 4) 1st the international Labor organization has reported that over 10% of Indian employers

were compliant to this statute. 5) The law says that any workspace with more than 10 employers needs to implement the

law passed by the supreme court of India. 6) In 1997 first Rajasthan has shared the nature of equality and working nature of womens

also has developed first here only. 7) After passing of bill in Loksabha and Rajyasabha it received the assent of the president

and was published in the gazette of India, extraordinary part-2, section-1, dated April 2013. As Act No.14.of 2013.

8) There was another act in 2005 and it was named as the protection of women Act, 2005.

Malala Yousafzai (born July 12, 1997) is a Pakistani student and education activist. She is known for her activism for girls' and women's rights, especially for being allowed to go to school. Yousafzai is originally from the town of Mingora in the Swat District. She was a victim of a gunshot attack in October 2012. Yousafzai is the youngest person to have won the Nobel Peace Prize. She won the prize in October 2014. She was 17.In 2009, at age 11, many people got to know her through a weblog of the BBC News' Urdu language service. The BBC published translated writings about her life under Taliban rule. 19. SCIENCE CELEBRITY Marie Curie - Physicist (18671934)

I believe that Science has great beauty. A scientist in his laboratory is not a mere technician; he is also a child confronting natural phenomena that impress him as though they were fairy tales. Marie Curie Born Maria Sklodowska on November 7, 1867, in Warsaw, Poland, Marie Curie became the first woman to win a Nobel Prize and the only woman to win the award in two different fields (physics and chemistry). Curie's efforts, with her husband Pierre Curie, led to the discovery of polonium and radium and, after Pierre's death, the development of X-rays. She died on July 4, 1934.

Marie and Pierre Curie were dedicated scientists and completely devoted to one another. At first, they worked on separate projects. She was fascinated with the work of Henri Becquerel, a French physicist who discovered that uranium casts off rays, weaker rays than the X-rays found by Wilhelm Roentgen.

Curie took Becquerel's work a few steps further, conducting her own experiments on uranium rays. She discovered that the rays remained constant, no matter the condition or form of the uranium. The rays, she theorized, came from the element's atomic structure. This revolutionary idea created the field of atomic physics and Curie herself coined the wordradioactivity to describe the phenomena. Marie and Pierre had a daughter, Irene, in 1897, but their work didn't slow down.

Pierre put aside his own work to help Marie with her exploration of radioactivity. Working with the mineral pitchblende, the pair discovered a new radioactive element in 1898. They named the element polonium, after Marie's native country of Poland. They also detected the presence of another radioactive material in the pitchblende, and called that radium. In 1902, the Curies announced that they had produced a decigram of pure radium, demonstrating its existence as a unique chemical element.

Marie Curie made history in 1903 when she became the first woman to receive the Nobel Prize in physics. She won the prestigious honor along with her husband and Henri Becquerel, for their work on radioactivity Today several educational and research institutions and medical centers bear the Curie name, including the Institute Curie and the Pierre and Marie Curie University, both in Paris.

20. SUDHA CHANDRANInspirational Woman Sudha Chandran is a successful Bharatanatyam dancer and an Indian film and television actress. She was born on September 21. She earned her B.A from Mithibai College, Mumbai and an M.A in Economics. She overcame her disability of losing her leg in an accident with the help of a prosthetic 'Jaipur foot', becoming one of the most highly acclaimed dancers of the Indian subcontinent. Her decision to dance again after a gap of two years was met by thunderous applause. She received invitations from all over the world for her performances. She was honoured with various awards after she performed as far away from home as Europe, Canada and the Middle East.

Sudha Chandran has done several films in various languages. Her films include the 1984 Telugu film Mayuri in which she plays herself was inspired by her story. The 1986 film Nache Mayuri was a Hindi remake of the Telugu original, in which the cast was changed except for Sudha to suit the North Indian sensibilities. She was awarded the 1986 Special Jury Award at the National Film Awards for her performance in Mayuri.

Her career in television includes the Ekta Kapoor produced serial, Kaahin Kissii Roz where she portrayed the character of Ramola Sikand which became an instant hit. She is considered to be one of the more flamboyant stars on Indian television, known for her avant garde sarees, chunk jewellery and designer bindis. Since then she has acted in several TV shows such as K Street Pali Hill in which she played the character of Gayatri Kaul. The drama was produced by Ekta Kapoor for Star Plus. She also portrayed the role of a rich brat's mother in Kuch Iss Tara which was telecasted on Sony TV and was also produced by Ekta Kapoor. Recently, she has participated in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa on Sony TV. She has also acted in Tamil serials including Kalasam and Arasi. Dance appears to be her passion, so much so that she has established a dance academy in Mumbai, 'Sudha Chandran Academy of Dance', which has branches all over Mumbai and Pune. Ravikumar Dang, Sudha's husband is the executive director of the school. Sudha is often cited as a symbol of "will power". She is also one among the judges in popular reality show Super Dancer Junior Series on Amrita TV and was a judge for the reality dance show Maanada Mayilada in the sixth season. 21. HER COMPASSION MOVED THE WORLD Mother Teresa Mother Teresa was born Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu in Skopje, Macedonia, on 26 August 1910. Her family was of Albanian descent. At the age of twelve, she felt strongly the call of God. She knew she had to be a missionary to spread the love of Christ. At the age of eighteen she left her parental home in Skopje and joined the Sisters of Loreto, an Irish community of nuns with missions in India. After a few months' training in Dublin she was sent to India, where on May 24, 1931, she took her initial vows as a nun. From 1931 to 1948 Mother Teresa taught at St. Mary's High School in Calcutta, but the suffering and poverty she glimpsed outside the convent walls made such a deep impression on her that in 1948 she received permission from her

superiors to leave the convent school and devote herself to working among the poorest of the poor in

the slums of Calcutta. Although she had no funds, she depended on Divine Providence, and started an

open-air school for slum children. Soon she was joined by voluntary helpers, and financial support was

also forthcoming. This made it possible for her to extend the scope of her work.

On October 7, 1950, Mother Teresa received permission from the Holy See to start her own order, "The Missionaries of Charity", whose primary task was to love and care for those persons nobody was prepared to look after. In 1965 the Society became an International Religious Family by a decree of Pope Paul VI.

Today the order comprises Active and Contemplative branches of Sisters and Brothers in many countries. In 1963 both the Contemplative branch of the Sisters and the Active branch of the Brothers was founded. In 1979 the Contemplative branch of the Brothers was added, and in 1984 the Priest branch was established.

The Society of Missionaries has spread all over the world, including the former Soviet Union and Eastern European countries. They provide effective help to the poorest of the poor in a number of countries in Asia, Africa, and Latin America, and they undertake relief work in the wake of natural catastrophes such as floods, epidemics, and famine, and for refugees. The order also has houses in North America, Europe and Australia, where they take care of the shut-ins, alcoholics, homeless, and AIDS sufferers.

The Missionaries of Charity throughout the world are aided and assisted by Co-Workers who became an official International Association on March 29, 1969. By the 1990s there were over one million Co-Workers in more than 40 countries. Along with the Co-Workers, the lay Missionaries of Charity try to follow Mother Teresa's spirit and charism in their families.

Mother Teresa's work has been recognised and acclaimed throughout the world and she has received a number of awards and distinctions, including the Pope John XXIII Peace Prize (1971) and the Nehru Prize for her promotion of international peace and understanding (1972). She also received the Balzan Prize (1979) and the Templeton and Magsaysay awards. She was awarded by Noble prize in 1979.

In this modern age many changes are happening in human culture .There are many platforms coming before men and women of these world where they can exhibit their talents and knowledge .The changing demands of the present society give lot exposure of glamour and film world. A thing of beauty is joy forever .It is true but how beauty is adored and admired makes the matter.Beauty contest for women .In this present era the status of women hood are degrading them let us discuss.

YAMUNA: Good morning everybody .I represent the group Wood roses for discussing a debate on Beauty contest- Are they degrading Women hood?

This is my favorite topic and thanks for giving this opportunity. Every woman has a unique talent and beauty contest is the great platform to prove who she is? Every contest is held to bring out the inner talent and beauty is not an easy thing to acquire and to maintain it is also a difficult thing and more over they not only consider the outer levels, way of speaking. Everything matters. And all girls cant become mother Teresa but they can succeed in their careers. Modelling is one of them.

We cant expect everyone to become mother Teresa. Why should always girls be helping and sacrificing their lives? Its their wish which passionate her and coming to dress code we cant expect a dress code which is being conducting internationally. And I think sari is most exposing than modern outfit. It all depends on how you take things so boys dont keep restriction on girls. Those days are gone.

SHAMRAN:I agree with Yamuna. Definitely beauty contest is the good platform for the women to show their hidden talents. In beauty contest they not only see their beauty but also their talent of communications, confidence and way of talking. I dont think that Beauty contest are degrading the women hood.

SWETHA KUMARI: Certainly yes! Beauty contest are degrading women hood. According to my point of view there is no point in conducting these beauty contests. You cannot judge a woman by the way she dresses and by the way she answers certain questions in front of everyone. It is how she carries herself each and every day to everyone. Only 10 to 15 people participate in that and invariably all are models. Aiswharya rai Bachan would certainly not be a good example to quote.

Take an example of mother Teresa. She wasnt a model. The acts she carried out made her beautiful to everyones eyes. Its not that one month contest that can judge a woman. It is how she acts, cares, participates etc tell her how beautiful and respectful she is!


SUDHARSHAN: I think beauty contest is good for woman they can show off herself on the platform of film industry and can get lot of offer by filmy sectors and reality shows. Woman can show there her hidden talent and also can show confidence level and way of talking communication skill and more and more thing can show there so think beauty contest is good for our culture and we can show our culture to foreign countries.

SRUTHIKA: In my views beauty is degrading women. Only a small group of individuals who think of themselves as Fashion Freaks cant judge a woman on the basis of her physical appearance or sexy body or sleek looks. In many ways beauty comes from within and is reflected by our deeds and actions.

SREEDHAR: I feel anything depends on the way we view them. If we see a dark room we get afraid though we knew that there is no ghost in it. In the same way if girls do expose their body by short dresses its in the way we see. Some may see the body exposed or some may even see the talent that even a small dress can cover the body. Its just the matter of skin; its all in the way we think so I say beauty contest place to expose the beauty of women is not at all degrading.

VYSHNAVI: In my opinion beauty contests are degrading womanhood but also our society and our culture. As we all know that we are Indian and it is not our culture. India get name and fame in all over the world because of culture, religion and tradition not for beauty contests.

SHARAN: Yes I agree with Vyshnavi and I like traditional culture and according to me Beauty contest degrade women hood because it is a naturally god gift not any profession. Beauty contest spoiled our Indian culture. It is a cause of many undesirable activities which are not acceptable in the society. Women beauty is a respective symbol for all Indians. Everyone should respect beauty of women.

SHANTHI: No Sharan I do not think any contest if held would be held to degrade anything..... a Beauty contest is another such contest....it is always held to bring out the hidden talent of the girls....here most of our friends are speaking on the limits that a girl must be in but a beauty contest is not only about the kind of dresses a girl wears but it is also about how a woman is presenting herself in front of various people.

So it is all in all good that these contests are held and people should be broad minded while viewing such contests.

SHRAVANA: Being a girl I am very happy to talk about this topic. In my view it doesnt degrade womanhood. It improves the self confidence of woman because it is not only meant for beauty it also explores their talent to the world.

SAIKUMAR: Beauty contests degrade the participants and not all women. I completely fail to see the point in competing with other women over something as pointless and superficial and temporary as physical profession. By these beauty contests women can explore her self, also her confidence increases.


If one wants to choose film or TV lines as her career these contests can proved as a best way to start her career with.

SUSMITHA: Paying due respect to the views of my fellow members in the present group discussion. I would love to share my views about the same. First of all I think beauty contest is neither effecting nor degrading womanhood rather it is helping them to groom and broom their talent. Yes, it is providing them the platform through which they could prove their worth and mettle to the rest of the world. Besides, there are a number of burning examples in front of us where by a women after going through such contests made a name for herself and leading a financially and economically sound life thereafter.

Conclusion:

Really when we think of women, the terms that come in our mind are Beauty, Generosity, and Sweetness. The words of Plato, Truth is a beauty, beauty is a truth . Right from Platos time the beauty of women is highly appreciated.

Our India is a land of respect for woman. Conducting beauty contest can create a beautiful world through it but also the natural women who are not participants are also more beautiful creatures because she is as natural as they come. When she walks into a room men feel compel to stand, while other woman turn their heads look at her enviously. Its not so much of her figure , although that helps, Its really about the fire in her eyes, the warmth in her smile, the touch of her healing hands and the comfort of her womb(lap). Yes, that would be her, the real true womanhood.
