Government medical college in Satara The Government of Maharashtra plans to construct a government medical college in Satara. A decision was recently taken to hand over 64-acre land of the Maharashtra Water Resources Department for the project. The decision to construct the 100-bed medical college along with 500- bed hospital at Rs 419 crore was taken in January 2012, but no action was taken thereafter. As per the master development plan of lighthouses, some key attractions includes museums, aquarium, children playarea and gardens, along with water bodies. As of now, the tourist activities is under development at Gopnath, Dwarka and Veraval lighthouses of Gujarat. Indian Railways is going ahead with its mission to become self-reliant for its energy needs. IR is going ahead to solarise railway stations by utilizing its vacant lands for Renewable Energy (RE) projects. Railway is committed to utilize solar energy for meeting its traction power requirements and become a complete ‘Green mode of transportation’. The Ministry of Railways has decided to install solar power plants on its vacant unused lands on a mega scale. IR has started energy procurement from various solar projects like 3 MWp solar plant set up at MCF Raebareilly (UP). About 100 MWp rooftop solar systems have already been commissioned on various stations and buildings of Indian Railways. GKRA aims to start extensive public works Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyaan (GKRA) has been recently launched. The scheme has aims to start extensive public works to provide livelihood opportunities and create local employment to returnee migrants and similarly affected rural citizens. This time-bound campaign spanning over 125 days, will involve intensive and focused implementation in 116 districts including 27 aspirational districts, spread in 6 States viz Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. As a step forward towards ensuring success of GKRA, the Jal Jeevan Mission aims to provide household tap connections to every rural household and offers a huge opportunity to engage skilled, semi-skilled and migrant returnees in drinking water supply related projects. States have been advised to prioritize taking up works initially such as augmenting or retrofitting existing piped water supply schemes so that these villages become 100% Functional Household Tap Connection (FHTC) villages. Huge potential exists in providing household connections to remaining poor and marginalized village households by retro-fitting of existing piped water supply systems.

Bina solar plant to feed Overhead Traction system of IR

Indian Railways (IR) has set up one project of 1.7 MWp in collaboration with BHEL at Bina in the state of Madhya Pradesh. The project is presently under extensive testing. The plant shall be connected directly to Overhead Traction System. It is likely to be commissioned within 15 days. This is the first of its kind project in the world. It involves adoption of innovative technology for converting Direct Current (DC) to single phase Alternating Current (AC) for feeding directly to Railway’s overhead traction system. The solar power plant has been established near the Bina Traction Sub Station (TSS). It can produce approximately 25 lakh units of energy annually and will save around INR 1.37 Crore for Railway every year.

Upgradation of Kullu Manali section of NH-21

The Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) through HPPWD is engaged in the development of National Highways in Himachal Pradesh. As part of this plan, MoRTH has decided to undertake Upgradation of Kullu Manali section of NH 21 now NH 3 from Km 272 00 to Km 309 345 designed chainage on EPC Mode under NHDP phase IVB regarding maintenance of Bypassed sections of National Highways. The estimated cost of the project is Rs.4.87 Crore. The bid submission deadline is 05/08/2020.

Devika river rejuvenation project work resumesDeputy Commissioner of Udhampur has informed the Union Minister Jitendra Singh during a virtual review meeting that after an inevitable delay due to COVID pandemic, the Devika river rejuvenation project has resumed and is expected to keep its deadline of completion during next one and half year. An amount of Rs. 186.74 crore has been sanctioned for Pollution Abatement of river Devika and river Tawi in Udhampur district of Jammu & Kashmir (U.T.) The construction works is divided into three zones and sewerage pipeline to be laid is 124.22 km in the Udhampur town.

DAC approves capital acquisition of various plants and equipment

Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) in its meeting held recently under the chairmanship of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has accorded approval for capital acquisition of various platforms and equipment required by the Indian Armed Forces. Proposals for an approximate cost of Rs 38,900 crore were approved. Out of these, the approvals of Rs. 31,130 crore includes acquisitions from Indian industry. This would boost the local defence manufacturing. The equipment are going to be manufactured involving Indian defence industry with participation of several MSMEs as prime tier vendors. The indigenous content in some of these projects is up to 80 per cent of the project cost. A large number of these projects have been made possible due to Transfer of Technology (ToT) by DRDO to the indigenous industry.

India to procure aircraft from Russia and HAL

Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) in its meeting held recently has approved the proposal for procurement of 21 MIG-29 along with upgradation of existing 59 MIG-29 aircraft and procurement of 12 Su-30 MKI aircraft. While the MIG 29 procurement and upgradation from Russia is estimated to cost Rs 7,418 crore, the Su-30 MKI will be procured from Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) at an estimated cost of Rs 10,730 crore.

NHAI to set up InvIT to facilitate highway sector investmentNational Highway Authority of India (NHAI) is in the process of setting up an Infrastructure Investment Trust (InvIT). The aim is to facilitate investment in the highway sector. As part of the structure, a new company is being set up to act as the Investment Manager to the proposed InvIT. NHAI InvIT shall be the first InvIT to be sponsored by any government or semi government entity in the country.

Design and construction of Kandi tunnel

Border Roads Organisation (BRO) is engaged in the development of road and as part of this endeavor, it has been decided to undertake Rehabilitation and up-gradation to 2 lane with paved shoulder from existing chainage km 30.000 to km 49.150 (design chainage km 30.000 to km 46.450) including design and construction of Kandi tunnel (total length of tunnel 260 mtr) incl approaches (Pkg-I) under 13 TF on Akhnoor - Poonch road (NH-144A) in the UT of J and K under Project Sampark, BRO on EPC mode. The project cost is Rs. 239.29 Crore. The completion is targeted in two years. The bids submission deadline is 20/08/2020.

Erection and Commissioning works of 1x30 MW STG at TNPL

Himachal Pradesh Government approves 193 project proposals

Himachal Pradesh State level Single Window Monitoring and Clearance Authority has recently approved 193 project proposals through Single Window portal with an investment of Rs 6100 crore. The Government of Himachal Pradesh is keen on attracting investment in sectors such as electrical and electronics, precision tools, IT hardware, electrical vehicles, etc. The state government has created a Government land bank to facilitate setting up of industries in minimum time frame. Around 600 hectares of land have already been made available for industries. The state is keen on establishing general Engineering Cluster at Tahliwal in Una district which would have a facility of Mini Tool Room with modern machinery, testing lab and training centre. Two sites have been identified for setting up Bulk Drug Park.

HDFC to set up fund to finance stressed realty projects

Housing Development Finance Corporation (HDFC) plans to set up fund to finance stressed realty projects in collaboration with other partners. HDFC is yet to approach its shareholders to seek their approval to raise funds. HDFC is likely to rope in partners to run the fund.

859 projects worth Rs 3.57 lakh crore are under implement in Oil & Gas sectorAccording to the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, as on 1st July 2020 859 projects with a worth of Rs 3.57 lakh crore are being implemented in refinery, exploration and production, marketing infrastructure, pipelines, city gas distribution network and in the entire value chain of oil and gas. Out of this, more than Rs 60,000 crore will be invested during fiscal 2020-21. IOCL and ONGC along with other PSUs have taken up number of projects in the Oil and Gas sector
