Yrjölä Rental Hut Yrjölä rental hut sits in a peaceful place with a marvellous view from the forest towards Ukko-Luosto fell. The old summer cottage is serving hikers today close to Luosto Nature Hiking Trail, surrounded by beautiful Pyhälatva-aapa mire sceneries. Location Yrjölä rental hut is located in Sodankylä mu- nicipality, in Eastern Lapland, in the northern part of Pyhä-Luosto National Park. The hut is on Pyhälatva-aapa mire, about 500 metres from Luosto Nature Hiking Trail marked in green. Coordinates: Euref-Fin (~ WGS84) lat: 67° 07.4581’ lon: 26° 51.1479’ ETRS-TM35FIN: N: 7445244 E: 493600 Price 60 € / night / the whole hut (incl. VAT 10%), maximum length of reservation is 3 nights. Rental time is 2 pm - 12 noon. Bookings: www.eraluvat.fi Keys The key can be picked up when showing the receipt of payment from Pyhä-Luosto Visitor Centre Naava or Lapland Hotel Luostotunturi reception. Check the opening hours. Facilities For heating: wood stove. Please note that it takes some time before the hut is properly warm. For cooking: gas cooker, necessary cooking utensils (a pot, a frying pan, a coffee pot) and some tableware. Bring your own utensils and tableware. For sleeping: There is a separate bed down- stairs and matresses for 6 on the loft. There are also pillows and blankets. Bring your own linen or sleeping bag. Sauna: a wood heated sauna on the grounds is free for the hut guests to use. Please note that it takes some time before the sauna is properly warm. Remember to empty all the water con- tainers and buckets before you leave. This is important especially in winter time as they will break if water freezes in them. Water: drinking water has to be carried to the hut or taken from a spring like water source 500 metres from the hut (water must be boiled be- fore use). There is also a small stream close to the sauna (the way is marked from the sauna), it has brown water which is suitable for bathing. Other facilities: There is a fireplace, a dry toi- let (bring your own toilet paper) and a wood shed on the grounds. How to get there? You can leave your car in Luosto, on a parking place just below the ski slopes. Distance from there to the hut is 7 km along Luosto Nature Hiking Trail marked in green. You can also reach the hut by leaving your car at Luostonloma parking place, close to Torvisen Maja, from where the distance to the hut is 6 km. There is no marked winter trail going to the hut. Pyhä-Luosto can be reached by bus from Rovaniemi and Kemijärvi, a SkiBus will travel between the two fell resorts. Important information • The hut has no electricity, running water or heating. It’s located in the wilderness outside the road network. The is no staff or food at the hut and it’s not pre-heated. The hut is wood-heated and it takes time for it to heat up properly. There is no road to the hut. You need to have outdoor and orienteering skills to get to the hut. The weather can change very quickly which should be taken into consideration when planning the route and the needed equipment. • The hut is located in a nature protection area, check the regulations www.nationalparks.fi • Pets are not permitted in the hut and there is no barrier-free access to it. Smoking is also not allowed. • Pack with you adequate equipment: warm clothes, food, something to drink, a map, a compass, equipment to make a fire, toilet paper, a fully charged mobile phone, equipment for sleeping, headlamp and a first aid kit. • Check the fire alarm upon arrival. We recommend that you bring a battery with you. Candles must be supervised at all times. • There is no cleaning at the huts. Tidy up after you and leave some firewood and kindling for the next guests. • There is no waste management, each visitor is responsible for taking their own waste from the hut. • If you notice that anything requires maintenance, let us know so that we can react as quickly as possible.
