Question Six:
What have you learn about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
SLR CAMERA
SLR has easy one
touch capture and
is really easy to use.
SLR adjusts flash levels and takes good images both inside and out.
When taking close up images the SLR is
useful as it autofocuses and this can save time
and produced great quality.
The SLR has a large capacity which was beneficial to me as I
needed to take many images to
then make a final decision.
I used this camera to take all the images that I needed for my magazine. I also used it for photography development and
practice.
SCANNER
The scanner took a long time to scan one document which was time consuming when
I had several pages which I wanted
scanning
The scanner allowed me to put handwritten/drawn documents onto the Mac.
The scanner produced high quality scans and the documents were
clear when on the computers.
I used this scanner mainly for my hand drawn flat plans and prelim products. I also used it for my model release forms which were hand signed so needed to
be scanned into my blog.
3 POINT STUDIO LIGHT SET UP
These lights have dials on the side to help me control the
intensity of the light which was useful when I needed a
brighter set up
Using a 3 point light set up I could
illuminate my model in whatever way I wanted which was
useful when creating shadows.
The three types of lights include Key light which is used as the main light on the model. The fill
light is used to fill in shadows. And the back light is used to make the model look separated from the background. By moving the position of
these lights I can control the lighting more accurately than if I had one or two lights.
I used the studio and the lights in the arrangement to shoot Charlie, Daniel and Lauren. Using artificial lighting gave me a better finish on the final image than when I used an outside location.
APPLE MAC
The Mac runs programs like
Photoshop and Final Cut Express
well with little errors or crashes.
The Mac also has a very fast download speed for images,
video and also fonts.
The Mac allows you to upload
videos, audio and images to Blogger and Youtube fast
Due to the Mac high resolution and large
screen it views images and videos
clearly and precisely.
I used the Mac in every lesson whether it was to go online and update my blog, upload images, edit pictures in Photoshop, create my magazine in InDesign or use
Photo booth and Final cut to create videos for my blog.
Let me document the whole process
from research, construction and evaluation of my media products.
Allows you to upload Prezis, Youtube clips,
other movie files, images, powerpoint
presentations, word documents and text.
Easy way to track processes as all
post can by ordered
chronologically.
Allows teachers to track my
progress with work online.
I used to Blogger to document the whole process of my media product from start to finish. I uploaded videos, YouTube clips,
Prezis, Power points, Word documents, text and images.
Allows you to present your work in a different and
unique way
Can easily add Youtube clips and voice overs to the
Prezi.
It allowed me to be able to talk about
my work and have a visual aid to prompt
me.
I could upload my prezis to my blog to
show my information in different ways
I used Prezi to present information in a more interactive way. I used this online tool mainly for presenting research and also when evaluating my own products.
Allows me to manipulate images and add different
effects.
Photoshop was better at handling images rather than text that’s why
I used it for my front cover.
I could layer images and alter specific layers to
alter the image.
Allowed me to change the colours of images
and text.
It allowed me to add embossed effects to my puff and banners to make them stand out.PHOTOSHOP
I used YouTube tutorials to help me with
Photoshop: http://
www.youtube.com/watch?v=rrzCtKQ5x0E
I used Photoshop to edit all my images and also create interesting mast heads and title for my contents and front cover.
INDESIGNInDesign is better at handling text that’s
why I used it for my contents page and DPS
Allows me to manipulate text and add effects such as stroke and emboss
By using InDesigns guidelines I could create well structured even looking pages.
InDesign allows you to alter the spacing between letters and the height and
widths of fonts to suit the space
I used InDesign to construct my magazine. I used it primarily for my contents page and double page spread as the program is goo at handling text. This program was
where my final products were exported from .
FINAL CUT EXPRESS Final Cut allowed me to splice video and images together to
visually show what I was talking about.
It’s a good tool for producing well executed videos with clear sound
which is beneficial to my evaluations
It exports videos quickly and in a range of different files which can
be imported to Blogger or Youtube
I used Final Cut for editing videos that I had taken using the webcam on the Mac. Using this program I was able to splice images and video together to help me create a video
which could have integrated visual aids. I mainly used this for evaluation questions
SAFARII used Safari as my main source of internet and normally it performed
well. However I have used Firefox when Safari has not been able to load. With in safari I have used a number of different sites…
I used YouTube to find helpful tutorials for Photoshop. I also
used YouTube to upload research video. This allowed me to easily
add my videos to my blog. However YouTube can crash often
which is a disadvantage.
dafont.com allows you to download fonts for free. It has categories to help you find a style of font. The fonts also downloaded really fast and
were easy to upload to programs.
I used Google as my main search engine as it is fast and reliable. I also
used Google Images specifically in the research stages of my products for example inspirational photography
and mood boards.
