8 8Nowadays, most office workers and many other
workforces require using computers for work
and communication. Having to work on com-
puters for hours and hours, day in day out can
result in eye strain or injury. Over time, vision
may become impaired, eye pain may be
felt and the ability to adapt to differ-
ent light may also be affected. Ad-
ditionally, one may suffer from
headaches neck, shoulders
and back pains. Thus, to
protect your eyes here are
some tips that can be eas-
ily followed:
Give your eyes a break •
by gazing at a distant
object for ten seconds
every ten minutes.
Blink your eyes once ev-•
ery five seconds to make
tears secrete so to keep the
eyes wet.
Do some eye movement exercis-•
es.
Adjust the brightness of your computer’s •
screen.
Adjust your screen’s distance. The distance •
between your eyes and the screen should be
60-80 cm. Make your characters’ size visible
by changing the text font.
Tilt the top of the monitor away from you at •
a 10- to 20-degree angle to create an opti-
mum viewing angle.
Keep your screen free of dust and finger-•
prints to avoid blurred vision.
See a doctor if you suffer from strained, •
weak or double vision.
