DPS Q magazine

The double pages spread is both text and picture led. It’s structured very neatly; this is to match

Q styles, because it’s structured very neat all through the magazine. This is so it’s easier for the

audience where text in concerned. The text side of the DPS has a very pale background making

the text stand out. The main headline is a bold question relating to the chosen band itself N-

Dubz. The question is very forceful and aggressive about the band ‘who the hell do N-Dubz think

they are?’ this is portraying that fans are being put off one of the best bands maybe due to their

actions. The headline is written in quite a thin font but at the same time it is still quite bold, maybe

due to the background choice. The headline is a question maybe to get the audience thinking

about the band itself and their opinions on them. This links into the article written. The journalist

jumps straight into what the band have recently been doing, and she mainly focuses the article

on Dappy and his vulgar actions. We learn from the journalist that Dappy had not been giving the

band a good name due to his choice of words and maybe a lot of fame is making him big

headed. The articles are neatly laid into two columns, they are long and information packed. The

journalist only uses a few direct quotes, and the main one is suggesting Dappy thinks his fans

are jealous of his success and wealth, this could infuriate readers as surely his fans if they were

true would love his success and fame, so really after analysing the article I think he should think

again about his accusations about himself and his viewers. His band after reading this would

probably be furious as its giving them bad publicity, and decreasing their fans, and probably

jeopardising their futures as a group. The picture attached to the DPS, is a medium close up of

their band, in their bold and colourful clothing making them who they are. The black background

makes their outfits stand out and has a really good overall effect. One of the direct quotes is used

again on top of the picture this is to over emphasise what he is trying to get across, but also the

audience could think this has a negative effect. The quote ‘the haters come at you, plunge a big

metal thing into your leg or neck’ this is also is symbolic of Dappy’s facial expression in the

picture, seen as it is angrily and smugly composed, suggesting he doesn’t care what people

think, decreasing his publicity further.
