2. How does your media product represent particular social groups?

Our media product is strange in the way it represents social groups. It has definitely subverted from the typical conventions of thrillers which tend to display young people (18yrs-) as vulnerable and any older they are often portrayed as the villain.However in our film it is a young person being portrayed as the villain, and it could be argued her mother, by the cot, could be described as vulnerable. It also displays a child as being vulnerable although this is not subverting from the conventions of thrillers as children are often portrayed as vulnerable. In our film I identify the main on screen social group as teenagers, and they are represented in two different ways. The first way they are represented as dark and evil. This is achieved through the use of black clothes which give connotations of dark and evil. The second way they are represented is helpful, this achieved through the fact the girl is playing with her little brother on the swing which shows she is helpful.
