My Ancillary Texts

These include a Digipak consisting of two disks, one with the regular album and the other including special features such as the my music video. There are also two insert convers and a tracklist. Also a promotional advertisement.

Music Video

My music video is a psychological portrayal of someone having a breakdown, with performance (instrumental and lip-synching) and narrative which shows the internal struggle the protagonist is undergoing. This will be shown through special effects and editing.

It is my own cover of Coldplay’s Fix You.

Effective or not effective?

I feel that both my music video and my ancillary texts were effective in reflecting the genre and style, but also reflects the artist and my theme of identity. The use of editing on both products in post production were my strongest aspect, as I believe these create a unique style suited for an indie genre and also convey professional quality to the products. I used Photoshop CS6 and Final Cut Pro to edit my products and create my final piece, whilst I filmed my footage with my Canon 550D DSLR camera.I aimed to convey the inner emotions of my artist depicted in my music video also in my ancillary texts. This was so that I Had continuity and cohesion throughout the products.
