Q3 - What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

Possibility's for distribution

• When deciding what distribution methods to use with my product it is important to first think about the genre of the film, likely or target audience and the motivations for making the film. The movie that I made is a crime thriller targeted at teenagers to young adults and made for my own creative interests rather than financial benefit.

Budget

• Due to the film being created on a low budget and not being focused on being financially orientated it is not within the conglomerate film companies such as universal or warner bros as they are looking to screen films which will make them a lot of money and therefor will see no advantages in being involved in this production

Target Audience

• The people I am hoping for my production to reach and be viewed my are teenagers and young adults, people of this age range are typically very orientated around the internet and social medias spending a lot of time son sites such as Facebook and online chatrooms, for this reason I think that it is a sensible idea to have the video on site like YouTube, Vimeo and even on my own websites as this method is a common way for amateur film producers to upload there work and get very cheep publiation.

Film Festivals

• Due to low financial resources it is common for armature film producers like myself to get their work shown at film festivals such as sin dance. This serves as cheep publication and is also a way to get their work seen by professionals who specialise in the industry and network, creating contacts that will come in useful in the future

Conclusion

• In conclusion I will use online platforms such as YouTube, vimeo and other websites to distribute my video as it is cheap and also distributes globally. In addition to this I will be attending film festivals with my product as it is free and will allow me to get connections in the industry.
