your media product and your media product and why?why?

An institution is an organisation or a company that has the responsibility of distributing products. Examples of British media institutions include; ‘BBC’, ‘SKY’, ‘Channel 4’, ‘ITV2’, ‘Film 4’. Some examples of global media institutions include; ‘CNN international’, ‘20th Century Fox’, ‘Warner Bros’, ‘Pixar’, ‘Disney’.

I believe that our product would be best suited being distributed via a British media institution because our product is aimed at a British audience, meaning that less profit is likely to be made if the audience doesn’t understand the gist of the film.

Due to the fact that our product is a horror, companies such as ‘Film 4’, ‘Channel 4’ and ‘Channel 5’ are likely to be incline to distribute our product, mainly because these institutions all distribute horror films from time to time. Also, these institutions sometime showcase lower-budget products as oppose to the global institutions such as ‘20th Century Fox’ or ‘Warner Bros’.

I would select the media institution ‘Film 4’ for distributing our media product because it strictly includes films and it shows a lot of horror films in comparison to ‘Channel 4’ and ‘Channel 5’. Moreover it is a British media institution that is regarded as highly successful. This could be due to the fact that it is free, so our target audience (young people) would be able to access our product without any added expense.
