Sensei Dixon’s 3rd book in the series Goju Budo presentsstep by step instruction and terrific graphics of Goju Ryu’ssignature powerful Sanchin Kata, and it’s counterpart,Tensho form. These two forms introduce the concept ofinternal energy and the dynamic power that is the heart of Goju Ryu.These Kata carry a powerful message in their yin yang concept within which we can find new understanding to that we can apply in every area of our lives. As inspiration to the beginner, or reinforcement and newinsight to veteran karateka the concepts presented in this book will continue to serve and inspire you in your practice at the dojo, in your daily life, and in your aspirations for the future.

This 4th book in Sensei Dixon’s series on Goju Budo is a continuation of his instruction in the system. These more senior kata are shown in great detail. The demonstration of the use of the moves in more than one application give the reader insight into the possibilities of the form.

The additional philosophical, historical, and training information is invaluable to students of all levels. These books are an excellent addition and augmentation to ones notes and training books.

Volume 5 of the CMAC Goju-Budo series is a landmark volume. It provides instructors and students of varying levels with an immense wealth of knowledge that stimulates the mind, refreshes and energizes the soul and inspires all to continue on this incredible journey in the Martial Arts. Sensei Dixon intrigues us with the Bunkai and gives us greater understanding and insight into the hidden movements and self defences of the Kata.

- Sensei Tammy Thankachen (CMAC Oku Damashi)~

Sensei Dixon's series is a growing record of the evolution of Canadian Karate-do. They are not just text-books on kata, application and theory, but they also reflect the refinement and skill all those who set forth on the path of Martial Arts should aspire to. His books mark the dawn of an exciting time, "the rise of Canadian Budo", and illuminate the contributions made to martial arts by one of Canada's living icons, Sensei W.M.Platt.

Thought without action is a dream, action without thought a nightmare.

Welcome to summer!!!! The dojo will be running regular hours for the summer so no changes, come in and train, keep to your schedule.

As most of you know I ride a motor cycle, so if you’re driving keep your eyes open for motor cycles.

I recently saw a post of a guy on a motor cycle getting cut off by a car who didn’t see him because he was riding in his blind spot. The guy on the bike karate chops the cars mirror off and drives away. Sure he’s upset that someone almost hit him I get it. A tap from a car to a bike could mean the end of the biker for sure. But a real biker isn’t going to ride in your blind spot they are smarter than that.

This new rider feels entitled as most people do these days. Wake up be smarter! If you are in a stampede with a heard of elephants are going to be all righteous about them looking out for you? No! You are going to do your best to stay out of their way, or you’re gonna die.

I felt I had to get on this post before everyone started in on the driver and gave the guy on the bike credit for breaking off the mirror. You don’t know the driver of the car, now you just picked a fight with him/her. A car will kill a bike no prob-lem, sure you looked tough for a second there, now the car just pushed you into a parked car...who’s tough now?

The driver of the car could be someone’s mom or granny, maybe it’s a stupid teen who’s trying to figure it out now he’s gotta tell dad why there’s no mirror on the car, not to mention that there’s one less mirror to see other bikes. It could be someone having a bad day and that was the last straw now he’s after you at ram-ming speed.

Sure we would all like to lash out and hit those that are bothering us, but you just can’t do it, to them or their stuff, it’s the law. Now the law of karma is “cause and effect” do something stupid and bad thing happen, do something smart and good things happen. By not going to guns as your default mode, having a cool head will hopefully keep things from escalating any further. Of course there are times when extreme action maybe required but you have to make sure you are reading the situation absolutely right. Most times a subtle action is required, use your head when riding, don’t ride in people’s blind spot, think about what they might be thinking, I usually know what they are going to do before they do. Ride a stronger bike that can get you out of problems and people can hear you coming. Ride with some experienced riders for a while and see how they do it.

I love riding a bike, it’s like freedom I highly recommend it, I’ve been riding for the better part of my life, which is why it has been the better part of my life. I use my training out there every time, but not to chop off mirrors. The ABC’s for riding and Karate are “Always Be Cool” you’ll live longer.

Qi Gong Seminar by Sifu Harvey

Here are couple pics from a local artist/photographer Mr Buck, he also trains at my gym which is where I met him. He’s an interesting guy, you can usually find him walking the beach at the “crack of dawn” (name of Sifu Harvey’s band) looking for these spectacular pics. God makes it and he catches it.

Here is Sifu Harvey doing Kung Fu out west.

I have known Sifu for 20 plus years and he has always impressed me. We have decided to work together on a few things, he has a similar Martial Arts style to us, so it shouldn’t feel too foreign.

This seminar will be focusing Qi Gong or chi gong which is the training and devel-opment of chi through breathing and movement.

Sifu has a strong lingeage rooted deep in the heart of the chinese Kung Fu heri-tage, his stories of the old masters will amaze you.

The seminar will begin at 4 and go to 7pm August 12th $50 per, do not miss this event.

A wise man once said ... nothing.

Message for the parentsIt has been proven time and time again that females can defend themselves against sexual attackers if they have training.

It boggles my mind that every girl out there isn’t training. Men are not to be trusted until they have been well tested and even then you never know for sure.

Sure we live in a safe neighbourhood were everyone is decent, but we’re the lucky ones. What happens when they go of to university or want to travel the world, or worse take the subway on the Danforth??!!!

We live on a planet full of animals and predators, you all know that, why would you even let them (your daughters) think they have a choice in the matter of to train or not to train?

If I had kids they would train no ques-tion about it. Being able to defend myself has given me the freedom to go anywhere and do anything without fear. Of course I don’t have to worry about being sexually attacked...well that’s not entirely true, I am pretty sexy, some women proposed to me right out in front of the dojo the other day, I just laughed and ran inside. Well you get my point.

It is a skill they can take with them where ever they go. It empowers them to take on challenges that they might shy away from. Well there are too many benefits to rhyme off here in this little space so get the word out there, kids should be beating my door down to get in here.

People are all concerned about the planet we are leaving for our children. How about being concerned with the children we are leaving the planet with?

Ordo Ab Chao (Order Out of Chaos)The first step (thesis) is to create a problem. The second step (antithesis) is to generate opposition to the problem (fear, panic and hysteria). The third step (synthesis) is to offer the solution to the problem created by step one: A change which have been impossible to impose upon the people without the proper psychological conditioning achieved in stages one and two.

Within this process, conflict and chaos are created at great cost of lives and resources to dismantle the social and politi-cal structures by which free societies govern themselves; ulti-mately to be replaced with centralized power and control of the people and resources.

The USA has been rocking this strategy of manipulation since before the USA was the USA, it goes back to the Masons from the middle ages. You think Trump is dreaming up all this weird stuff, it’s way bigger than him. So careful what you eat and more importantly what you believe.

Oh Mr Trump that’s taking it too far. This is a joke of course but it’s no laughing matter. The USA has some boarder issues, pretty scary stuff for sure.

Soon Canada will have the same problems, people will coming here instead of the USA, cuz who wants to go there when you’re kids are going to be taken away from you.

Immigration issues in Canada are going to be a thing in our near future because of all the turmoil in the world and we have it really good up here, plus we have a pile of room. With all the big business in war and the corporations going for the climate change, people will be uprooted and sent packing to a more stable country, and the USA isn’t the promised land it once was. Canada is the next logical choice. So what’s the answer? Is it a problem or an opportunity? For sure there will be a time of adjustment and we as Canadians always want to do the right thing, so we need to come up with a good plan that will be receiving all these poor souls. Let’s hope the PM can pull it off before we are over run.

Spear Seminar May 27 4-7

Golden Harmony Kung Fu and Sifu Harvey

Qi Gong seminar August 12 4-7pm $50

Had a funtastic time with Sifu Harvey and the Golden Harmony Kung Fu crew, and Alex Bethke and Shanta Nathwani from CMAC Beaches dojo at the spear seminar.

The training went on for three hours, we covered some basics, worked some drills, and spent most of the time going over and over the 6th Dan Wushu competition spear form, it’s awesome. I tried to put in some basics that were related to the form so that when we got to that part in the form it would be second nature or at least familier. I did throw in a few things that weren’t related to the form though, just because they are fun to work on, like the superman punch with a spear and a running chop. I had as much as they did for sure, people learn best when they’re having fun, and fun I can no problem. Make sure you are at the next one.

This is the correct way to line up your crests on your gi.

Notice that the top of the CMAC diamond is pointed directly at the maple leaf on the banner of the fist and is in this proximity.

Both crests are straight up and down, not on an angle that is lined up with the gi top’s lapel .

The crests should sit on the left chest of the gi top.

Notice that the CMAC diamond has the black leaf on top.

If you want to grade to yellow belt you should have a fist on your gi

If you want to grade to orange belt you should have a CMAC diamond.

GREED!

Martial Artist = Verb

I think the cartoon above is a pretty good one. We are here on this amazing planet with all it’s wonders, given an awesome vehicle in which to travel and explore it, but somehow we get caught up in a rat race that forces us to give up our freedom and sign on to work away our precious time that we have here so others can profit from our short sightedness. Actually the cartoon is still off, he has money, in reality the ex-wife takes a pile and the government takes the other pile. Of course it’s not all doom and gloom, but you have to be on top of the path you choose.

You ever notice that some people tend to have an easier time than others, if not you haven’t been paying attention. Of course everyone struggles at one time or another, but some seem to get through relatively unscathed. Take a lesson and see how they did it. Keep it simple! Guard your karma like it is the most important thing on the planet. Be careful who you let into your circle. If you let someone in who is always having weird and unbelievable problems you might want to rethink that relationship.

Life is hard enough as it is why self sabotage with the wrong friends, bad eating and drinking habits and wrong thinking. I went to the Q-107 Canada party at Woodbine for as long as I could handle it, I like to people watch. Man I gotta tell ya people have really let themselves go. I was watching this one guy crazy overweight, smoking and drinking, dancing and yelling and carrying on, the EMS guys walked passed and I said “keep your eye on this guy” they smiled and nodded like they already knew. Then I watched this family try and figure out how to fill up one of those air bag couches that are so popular, they couldn’t figure it out, I had to explain it to them and they still couldn’t do it, kinda scary. Fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life, classic “Animal House” reference, but absolutely accurate, my god I felt sad for them so I had to leave. Sure have a good time while you’re here, but use some judgement, make good choices.
