We hope you had a good summer break and we look forward to meeting you at our stand at

Higher Options 2017, the Ploughing Championships, Transition Year Expo 2017 and other

events during the coming months

The Qualifax website continues to be very busy. Our data analytics for 2016 indicated that

we had more than half a million users and overall very positive feedback has been provided. Students and guidance counsellors continue to be the main users but the site is also used by

job seekers, adult learners and of course parents. Website users amounted to 530,444 in

2016 with January noting the higher numbers at 77,681.

Search courses by Education Training Board (ETB) You can search on Qualifax for the

full range of courses on offer at ETBs by choosing Institution Type ETB and then choose

the ETB you wish to search in the Course Provider field.

The Information Services Unit in the Qualifications Directorate at QQI work in

complementary areas which include Europass and NARIC Ireland. At Europass we promote

the use of the European CV and provide free advice on foreign academic qualifications at

NARIC Ireland. Many of the users of these services find Qualifax very helpful. See

Europass CV Competition 2017

Europass also is organising a European CV competition. The competition is open to

Transition years, Leaving Cert Applied, Senior Cycle students, (LCVP and Leaving Cert),

Youthreach students and anyone taking a QQI Further Education and Training award. To

Whats new in education and training?

Progression using QQI awards from NFQ level 5 and 6 is a popular route and the list of

opportunities expands every year. In 2017 around 4,000 offers have been made to QQI

award holders through this process.

We also recommend you visit the website of QQI to check out QQI award options and the

many developments coming through QQI.

New apprenticeship opportunities are also coming on stream and the SOLAS new

apprenticeship programmes may be of interest to guidance counsellors and students. Check

out the website at www.apprenticeship.ie

The SOLAS website www.FETCHcourses.ie is now a feature of the Further Education and

Training landscape and we recommend that you check this out.
