Our qualifications and courses are from the Australian Quality Framework Chemical, Hydrocarbons and Oil Ref ining Training Package (PMA) and was recently revised. It establishes nationally-recognised, industry skills standards. Training is delivered at Munster Campus for those new to the industry. School based and mature age trainees commence at Certificate II level. We also deliver training off-campus, consistent with individual workplace procedures, for students already in the industry. Training is competency-based, requiring students to complete practical assessments in the workplace with a qualified workplace assessor. Graduate outcomesGraduates will be qualified to perform the following work as Process Plant Operators depending on the level of qualification achieved.

PMA20116 Certificate II

Work as “operators in training” under supervision, learning the skills to operate process trains that separate chemicals, store and hold gases and liquids under pressure, separate solids from fluids, start up and close down operations, troubleshoot and fault find, read P and IDs and process flow diagrams, undertaking pigging operations and chemical injection.

PMA30116 Certificate III

Without supervision, operate process trains that operate cryogenic processes, transfer liquids between storage facilities, operate process control systems, operate and monitor compressor systems and equipment.

PMA40116 Certificate IV Provide supervision of control room staff and operate complex process trains.

PMA50116 Diploma Operate production plants.

PMA60116 Advanced Diploma Undertake senior roles in production plants.
