integral part of census planning, implementation and evaluation.

DCS based on a sample of households for which questionnaires have not been returned• Determines to what extent they are occupied• For those that are occupied, DCS estimates
how many people usually live there• National estimates are incorporated into the
census counts

Quality assurance is an integral element of the Canadian census.
Quality assurance initiatives and performance indicators are built into every aspect of census operations.
New technologies are providing opportunities for more timely indicators which may be able to support census operations still in progress.
