Improving our quality reporting

strengthen our quality management and assessment practice• Targeted quality reviews of survey programs• Focus on quality of released data – reduce number of

data reloads

number of quality indicators have been developed – both at the aggregate level and at the survey program level

Provide guidance setting priorities – based on QAF dimensions – relevance, quality and efficiency – composite indicator

Aggregate indicators

StatCan redeveloped its performance indicators including quality of outputs based on the dimensions of QAF- accessibility, relevance and accuracy

also, organizational efficiency indicators (i.e., use of admin data, reduction of response burden)

Aggregate indicators are not linked to nor reported at survey level in our corporate metadatabase - IMDB

Detailed indicators

StatCan’s Quality Assurance Framework relates to Quality Management in the GSBPM

GSBPM used to review the quality assurance of selected survey programs

GSPBM used to identify sub-processes that have a greater risk of errors in quality

Detailed quality indicators and good practices were revised in StatCan’s Quality Guidelines which also refers to the GSBPM

Next steps

produce the same quality indicators in the departmental performance report in the IMDB – for each survey

produce data quality statements more consistently for surveys – based on StatCan’s 2009 Quality Guidelines

Can we go further? quality practices and indicators for each GSBPM sub-process in the IMDB
