MARKETPLACE Building a better working world On 1 July 2013 EY’s international organization announced its brand new name: EY. It also introduced a new logo and tagline: "Building a better working

world."

In addition, it was announced that Mark Weinberger will be the Global Chairman and Chief Executive of the EY Global Company.

Assuming the position, Mr. Weinberger said:

"Every day, every EY employee contributes to

improving the business environment and thus helps to make the world better - for our customers, our families and for society as a whole. We strongly believe that everything we do - every audit report, each filled tax return, each consulting project, every interaction with a client or colleague - should contribute to improving the business environment.

We understand that promoting positive change in the world by improving the business environment is an ambitious goal, but it is extremely important to us and will determine all the activities of our organization."

EY reports on achievements in CSR On 18 April EY Ukraine presented its fourth Corporate Responsibility Report. The report described the results of EY activities in the economic, social and environmental fields, covering the work of the Kyiv and Donetsk offices from 1 July 2011 to 30 June 2012.

This year the company prepared a video along with the report. Watch it to learn about EY’s basic CSR programs and about its achievements of the past year, and all in less than five minutes! http://www.ey.com/UA/uk/About-us/Corporate-Responsibility

EY Ukraine wins two major tax area honors at European Tax Awards EY Ukraine’s Tax & Legal practice has won the

"National Tax Firm of the Year" award for the second consecutive year at the prestigious international European Tax Awards. The company also won an award in the "Best Transfer Pricing Firm" category for Ukraine. The ceremony took place in London on 15 May.

The European Tax Awards, presented by the European edition of the “International Tax Review,” celebrate the most innovative achievements of European companies in the field of tax transaction support, tax structuring, tax disputes and transfer pricing.

Ukraine observes Corporate Volunteering Week The dates 18-22 March saw Ukraine observe Corporate Volunteering Week, organized by the CSR Development Centre in the framework of the UNITER project. WORKPLACE Employees expand horizons via EY’s mobility programs In 2013, some of our employees took the opportunity to gain professional experience at other company offices worldwide. Congratulations to our colleagues Dina Bokatova (UK), Ielyzaveta Ogorodnikova (USA), Evgenii Garnaga (Cyprus), Sergii Oleshkevych (Italy) and Andrii Petruk (USA) on their new experiences!

Sergii Oleshkevych, who spent three months in EY’s Milan office, shares his impressions: "I was the first IT professional in the EMEIA region to take part in the New Horizons corporate exchange program. I want to thank the company for my unique experience at an Italian EY office. I got to communicate with a number of interesting and very friendly people and an opportunity to plunge into a new cultural environment!”

EY conducts Global People Survey 2013 Every two years Ernst & Young holds a thorough Global People Survey (GPS) based on 66 indicators. We want to know if we have done the right things to improve our people’s motivation to contribute to business outcomes.

In May 2013 67% of EY’s employees in Ukraine participated in the survey. The employee engagement index was 79%, which is 5% higher than it was in 2011.

Senior manager takes part in EY Women’s Leadership Program In April 2013 Viktoriya Shmuratko, Senior Manager in Advisory Services, participated in the EY Women’s Leadership Program (EMEIA Women's Leadership Program), which took place in London.

The main topic was women’s careers at the company: career stages, the difficulties faced by women ambitious to move up the career ladder, and myths and stereotypes about the ability of women to occupy leadership positions.

"I discovered how many similarities in thoughts and behavior there are between women of various cultures. The presentations and discussions within the program let us reflect on our ambitions, take a new look at our abilities (as there isn’t always enough time to do in everyday life) and move forward," said Viktoriya.

HR initiates EY Career Café employee development project Recently EY Ukraine HR department has initiated a new project – the EY Career Café. The aim of the initiative is to discuss hot topics related to career development of the company’s employees.

During Career Cafe meetings our employees discussed such topics as diversifying staff experience within the company, structuring meaningful career conversations between counselors and counselees, women’s careers at the company.

Other interesting career related topics are still waiting for EY employees ahead.

Company broadens personal skills development training A staff survey conducted last summer indicated that EY employees want to have more options to develop their personal skills.

Following the survey results the most popular topics among employees were covered by the following trainings: Business Etiquette, Effective Communication, Sales and Negotiation Skills with clients, Writing Skills, Collaboration in Cross Cultural

Teams, Interviews with candidates, as well as Excel and Power Point. Each training session lasted from two to seven hours. More than 200 employees used the opportunity to acquire new knowledge and skills.

In the 2013 financial year the EY Academy of Business also offered more soft skills training sessions for internal customers. The courses "Delegation and Feedback" and "Persuasion through Presentation" were the most popular among employees.

Kyiv office holds second Health Days event In April 2013 Health Days were held for the second time at the company’s Kyiv office. Staffers could undergo medical tests and attend medical consultations and lectures. Taking into account the success of last year's event, this year's list of doctors and tests was expanded and the event took place in several stages.

The dates 18-19 April were devoted to blood analysis, ECGs and chest X-rays, mammologist and gastroenterologist consultations and medical lectures by a vertebrologist and a nutritionist. On 24 April the office was visited by a practitioner who helped staff to interpret the results of medical tests and provided medical advice.

In total, 113 employees participated in this year’s Health Days. We plan to hold similar events in the future.

During a six-week period in April and June of this year employees could, according to a pre-agreed schedule and at their own expense, receive massages at the Kyiv office.

About 30 people took advantage of this opportunity. Due to high demand a massage room has been set up at the office to offer massages on a regular basis. The next cycle of massages is scheduled for October.

Activities for children Pancake Week Celebration: On 17 March a tour to the Mamaeva Sloboda open air museum was organized for employees with children in celebration of the traditional Ukrainian Pancake Week spring holiday.

Fifteen children aged four to 14 years old and their parents participated in this event, which included many exciting contests. The day’s main event was a master class in cooking dumplings.

Easter workshop: On 20 April the Easter workshop for children of employees took place. More than 20 children aged from three to 10 participated. Kids learned to make real wax candles, paint cookies, build houses out of cookies and, of course, paint Easter eggs. A mini-lecture on Easter traditions and the symbolism of the Ukrainian Easter egg was also held.

We Are the Champions! sports tournament: On 6 April our team took part in the “We Are the Champions!” corporate festival of children's sports. Almost two hours of fun sports events and competitions entertained children and taught them how to work in team, achieve their goals and strive for victory.

Pathfinder rope course: On 15 June, in a picturesque corner of Pushcha Voditsa, the Pathfinder children’s tour took place. Twelve kids aged four to 14 spent a few hours navigating a rope course as part of a specially developed game program for children and their parents.

The program aimed to foster team spirit, develop the imagination and promote innovative thinking and joint problem solving. With their parents’ help children learned to use ropes and carabiners, climbed trees, crossed a simulated river, and helped each other overcome various obstacles that couldn’t be overcome alone, and more.

Intellectual games At the end of 1 June, a working Saturday, employees met for the game Rat Race (a Ukrainian analogue to Cash Flow). For four hours players built businesses, increased their financial literacy and escaped from “labor slavery.” An atmosphere of excitement dominated the conference room! We recommend Rat Race as a wonderful format for inter-department team-building.

Sports events EBA Basketball Tournament. On 6 April EY employees participated in the European Business Association Basketball Tournament, at the sports complex of the National University of Food Technologies. EY took first place among nine teams!

Marathons. The spring of 2013 saw EY employees participate in the Fourth International Marathon on 28 April and the 21st Charity Chestnut Run on 26 May.

Football tournaments. Our football team participated in two football tournaments, organized by the ACC and EBA: the AmCham Football Tournament (30-31 March) and the EBA Football Tournament (6 July).

The tournament raised $85,000 for an Early Childhood Development Center for children with Down Syndrome.

ENVIRONMENT Green Rush and EY: summing up the school year results For the fourth time the company has served as a partner to the Green Rush project, conducted by the youth organization AIESEC at Kyiv and Donetsk schools. The project aims to raise environmental awareness among young people. More than 900 pupils participated in environmental interactive modules during the 2012-2013 school year.

Employees did the following as part of the program:

recommendations on how to improve the programs;

Feedback from pupils:

"I came to understand the real threat to the planet that human activities pose. In my family I’m trying to reduce the use of things that we can manage without."

"I’m trying to save water and electricity."

"I’m thinking about how to teach my family to sort garbage and I’ve started to put into practice the tips on recycling old things and continuing to use them."

EY holds annual eco-poster contest Each year EY conducts its Environment Poster Contest for schoolchildren in Kyiv who participate in Green Rush. This year the theme of the competition was the proper handling of waste paper.

The most compelling entries came from Veronica Muha, Nastia Brykova, Darina Denisiuk and Slava Zhukova. These winners were invited to meet representatives of the EY Committee on Corporate Responsibility. The girls shared their views on the Green Rush program and the competition, as well as on environmental issues in the country. They also received memorable gifts from the company.

The girls’ works will be shown in the EY offices during the next awareness campaign for employees.

EY participates in Let’s Make Ukraine Clean! Initiative On 20 April thousands of people across the country joined in the Let’s Make Ukraine Clean! Ukrainian public initiative, the purpose of which is to prove that our parks and streets can stay clean and those simple actions on the part of each of us can improve quality of life.

Once again, EY employees enthusiastically participated in the event, which was at a favorite city location for both Kyiv citizens and guests - Mariinsky Park. Volunteers worked with Kievzelenstroy’s staff to make the Park shiny and clean.

We thank everyone who made a contribution to maintaining and enhancing the beauty of our country!

Eight participants from among the more than 130 registered made the finals, demonstrating their superior tax knowledge and skills while working on a case suggested by the company.

This year's winner of the Young Tax Professional of the Year national stage was Boris Ulanenko, a graduate of the Kyiv School of Economics.

We wish Boris success in the international final, which will take place on 26-29 August 2013 in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Coffee with a Partner event On 15 March some 40 students from Kyiv National Economic University came to meet with Bogdan Yarmolenko as part of the Coffee with a Partner initiative.

Bogdan discussed his experience at EY, the market for audit and consulting services in Ukraine, basic requirements for young professionals and how to face an interview with a partner and get a job.

"Everyone who wants success can achieve it," Bogdan told the students.

EY presents lecture on CSR at National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy More than 60 universities in Ukraine already teach corporate responsibility as part of their curricula. For many students the acronym “CSR” is a familiar one, and they’re familiar with the principles of responsible business and sustainable development. However, there’s still a lot to be done to deepen trust in business.

In late February EY’s CSR practitioners were invited to present a lecture to students in the masters program at Kyiv-Mohyla Academy. The lecture spontaneously grew into an open dialogue, as Natalia Telenkova, Head of the CR Committee, and Ielyzaveta Maksymets, coordinator of education programs and an HR specialist, held a frank conversation with the students.

The following topics underwent discussion: the motivation of companies in implementing CSR practices, the benefits that a company receives by implementing social initiatives, topical issues of CSR in Ukraine and the veracity of the non-financial reporting of companies and other organizations.

Popularizing CSR among university teachers This summer saw the fourth Institute on CSR for Ukrainian university teachers – a five-day training program for those who are teaching or who are going

to teach corporate social responsibility. The Institute was organized by UAMDBE and gathered 29 teachers from Donetsk, Zhytomyr, Kyiv, Lviv, Simferopol, Sumy, Uzhgorod, Kharkiv and Cherkassy.

Participants listened to both CSR theorists and practitioners from such companies as SCM, DTEK, Farmak and Platinum Bank.

Victor Kovalenko, Leader of the EY Sustainability Services group, spoke about non-financial reporting principles and standarts, while CR Committee Head, Natalia Telenkova talked about company social projects.

The numerous questions from the audience were a pleasant surprise for the speakers, indicating a high level of interest in the practical aspects of CSR.

KPI hosts First Step educational conference The First Step educational conference, aimed at promoting career opportunities in finance, IT, and business and systems analysis, took place on 13-15 May at the Kyiv Polytechnic Institute.

Enactus national competition ends in exciting finale In early June, the Enactus Ukraine International Youth Organization held its national competition. The winner was the team from the Vinnytsia National Technical University.

EY has been a strategic partner to Enactus since 2009 as part of its involvement in fostering education and entrepreneurship among young people. This year EY staffers served as judges and as coordinators for one of the leagues.

EY Ukraine Managing Partner Alexei Kredisov, who has co-chaired the Enactus Advisory Business Council since 2010, judged team projects in the final round of the competition. He received a special honor for his long years of support for the organization.

Competition finalists received special prizes from EY, such as certificates for classes at the Academy of Business. Petro Yavorsky, captain of the Enactus Ukrainian Engineering and Pedagogical Academy team, was personally invited to work in the audit department by Alexei Kredisov.

AIESEC Leadership Development Seminar On 5-6 July Alexei Kredisov and Vitalii Kuzub participated in the "Leadership" and "Finance" sections of AIESEC’s Leadership Development Seminar.

Alexei shared his own success story and secrets of leadership and Vitalii discussed the principles and process of financial diagnostics at the organization.

Educating future business leaders is one way in which we contribute to developing and improving Ukraine’s business environment. Through these actions we fulfill our mission and change the world for the better.

AIESEC Holds Career Forum

As part of the sixth National Conference Career Forum 2013, organized by the AIESEC youth organization in Ukraine, March 2013 saw HR specialist Ielyzaveta Maksymets teach students about main labor market trends, requirements for job candidates and the secrets of creating successful resumes.

Senior Audit Manager Ganna Kurylenko, meanwhile, shared success stories from her own career. Students also participated in a mini-fair, where they could ask questions about internships and vacancies at the company.

“Ganna Kurylenko is a great example of a successful person, someone who embodies the concepts of

professional growth and constant self-development. She stresses that you should never give up and that you should approach complex problems in a way that gives you the best chance of solving them", shared s student in response to Ganna’s motivational speech.

Profko: communication with companies helps pupils choose their futures This year, EY employees twice participated in career guidance events for pupils organized by the AIESEC youth organization. We understand how difficult it is for young people to decide on future professions and how important it is for them to have the necessary information in hand.

"Working at an international company - pros and cons" was the topic that EY staff chose to address at the Profko event, which took place in February in Kyiv. Yuliya Byba, a lawyer and a representative of the CR Committee, and Natalia Telenkova, Head of the CR Committee, spent two hours with teenagers and students, talking about their experiences. The highlight of their presentation was a game on the theme "Myths and facts about working at an international company," which was prepared on the basis of previous surveys of young people.

Page 10: Quarterly newsletter - EY · PDF filequarterly newsletter on Corporate ... • AIESEC Leadership Development Seminar ... The employee engagement index was 79%,

Lesya Karpyn, an audit expert, took part in Profko in April. She described the features of an auditing career.

Developing youth in partnership with KROK University As part of the practically oriented KROK Piranhas educational project for seniors at KROK University, EY HR specialists Anastasiya Sklyar and Ielyzaveta Maksymets conducted a master class on the topic "Structure and objectives of the HR department in the company."

Students discussed the main tasks of such a department using EY as an example, and built up a hypothetical HR structure for a retail company.

EY also supported students via the PROF Fest 2013 EY Job Presentation Festival, the third event of its kind, held on 2 March 2013. Tax & Legal Services expert Iryna Kovalenko held a vocational master class for high school students considering careers in law. Iryna described the legal profession, discussed labor market prospects and education as a means by which prospective applicants can successfully realize themselves in the field of jurisprudence.

The Scholar program – a multifaceted partnership For six years already, EY has been a partner to the Friends of Children Foundation’s Scholar project. The company provides financial support to the Foundation, employees sponsor (and in some cases mentor) students, the CR Committee helps develop and evaluate the Foundation’s programs, and volunteers take part in training sessions for the students. The Saturday school of English for scholars has been a going concern at EY office for two years already.

During the 2012-2013 academic year the company has supported 16 students, seven of whom received personal support from EY people.

"When deciding to participate in the Scholar project I first of all tried to answer the question ‘Why do I need this?’ Just paying the sponsorship fee and feeling like a good person - for me those were insufficient motives for participation. The result of my reflection was that I understood that the main reason to

get involved was to be engaged, to play an important role in the life of a person who is just in the process of development. I understood that I’d have to try to build a new type of relationship (which hadn’t happened in my life before), which would be both a challenging and interesting task. I work for a company that brings every day a variety of difficult and interesting problems :) So, I decided to try it.

To say that I was a little nervous before the first meeting with the scholar is an understatement. But everything turned out well, and with each meeting it’s becoming easier and more interesting to communicate. It’s important in my opinion to remember that compassion shouldn’t be the basis for action or communication. It’s important for adolescents to understand that someone is interested in their lives and wants to be in them somewhere nearby, not only in sorrow but also in joy. At that point everything happens in a harmonious and unobtrusive manner.” Kateryna Bondar, EY Transaction Advisory Services Senior Manager, shares her mentoring experience.

During the year the company held a series of training sessions for the program fellows. The Negotiation Professionals club got involved, for example, with its representatives holding several sessions on effective presentation. Ielyzaveta Maksymets, an HR specialist and a member of the CR Committee, conducted a session on resume writing. Students also had the opportunity to learn lots of interesting about business etiquette from Nataliya Adamenko, a company

specialist on visa issues, a teacher of diplomatic and consular service business etiquette at the Institute of International Relations and Diplomatic Academy, a director of the School of a True Lady and Gentleman School programs on Studio 1+1 TV and in general a very interesting person.

The English School this year took place in a speaking club format. The club consisted of 15 students, with EY employees moderating the discussions: Anna Roshchupkina, Yevgenia Kolchynska, Nataliia Tymchenko and Olga Shibanova. Topics for the club were chosen according to the interests of the young people and included employment, movies and relationships."We’re pleased to welcome Scholar participants to participate in club meetings. Knowing English and practicing speaking it increase one’s chances of participating in international exchange programs and of getting a good job. I thank my colleagues who took part in the club this year." Anna Roshchupkina, volunteer-initiator and coordinator of the English School for Scholar participants.

EY hosts students for social internship This summer, EY opened its doors to participants of the social internship program implemented by the Edvent charity organization. EY hosted two students from Kyiv Boarding School № 20 – Ivan Kornienko and Olga Vykhrystyuk.

The teens tried their hands as company "employees" for one summer month. Their program included computer literacy and English language training; lessons on CR, the environment and ethics; excursions to different company departments; and, of course, certain work tasks. The main goal was for them to see how an international company works and develop their communication skills.

Olga plans to study economics and Ivan programming, so it’s possible that in four or five years they’ll be with us again as colleagues. For the time being they’re enjoying the benefits of the internship program, which involved about 25 company employees as mentors or coaches for children.

Offering career guidance to Scouts On 28 June EY employees Natalia Telenkova, Andrii Potapenko, Daryna Chapiuk, Ira Chernyshova, Nadiia Sokolova, Sergey Vakaliuk and Natalia Konovalenko took part in the long-term Road to Success project presented by the Edinstvennaya Charity Fund.

One of the project modules took place this summer at the Scoutville camp. Fifteen EY volunteers helped train and prepare materials for a vocational session for older Scouts.

Andrii Potapenko, EY Advisory Services intern, shared his impressions: "It was very exciting to take part in this project. Our goal was to conduct a vocational guidance project for children from orphanages. I was surprised by how interested the children were by the question of what profession to choose, and in fact many of them had already chosen a future profession. It was a pleasure to participate in a socially useful project and a good way to change up the work routine.”

EY has supported Edinstvennaya Charity Fund initiatives and participates in the Road to Success social adaptation program since 2007.

ЕY supports Platinum Bank’s High Rank Education project Platinum Bank this year held its third national competition for secondary schools. In late May this year’s winners were selected: 14 schools from different regions of Ukraine. Participants prepared gaming lessons touching on the basics of economics, and the schools that submitted the best work received computer labs and training packages.

"This is a great project, one that both stimulates the desire for a better education and provides the tools to achieve it. We were happy to support it and our participation made it possible to add two schools to the list of winners that will receive computer classes. That means another 1,200 students for whom the learning process will become more interesting." Natalia Telenkova, Head of the CR Committee.

EY wins award for volunteering EY Ukraine has for the second consecutive year won honors in the "Corporate Volunteering" contest, in the "Education" category. The company was honored specifically for its Step into the Future program, during which EY partners and employees contribute to the welfare of the youth of Ukraine.

The program started in 2010 and includes several formats: EY University, which brings students to the company office for talks on profile subjects; Coffee with a Partner, which involves meetings with top executives in an informal atmosphere; contests; and open door days.

Last year, more than 60 colleagues contributed to our educational programs, covering more than 8,000 students. We’re grateful to everyone who takes part in these initiatives!

The competition was organized by the East Europe Foundation, the UN Global Compact in Ukraine, the

ACC, the European Business Association and the Ukrainian Philanthropists Forum.

EY stays busy with charitable activity Doing and supporting good deeds has become the norm for EY employees.

Over the past six months the list of our good deeds has included the following:

• We joined the Denis Silantyev Foundation’s Feel the Book project and presented to the pupils of Kyiv Boarding School №11 for children with visual impairments 52 players that will make it easier for them to access information. The first delivery consisted of the work of Ukrainian poets, recorded by well-known Ukrainian actors especially for this project.

• For the first time we held our traditional Easter Fair in auction format. Company employees (mostly female) provided handmade Easter decorations, sales of which generated UAH 3,000 for Yuriy Veremenko, who is undergoing leukemia treatment at the Kyiv Regional Hospital.

• We supported the “Give a Child Your Love!” charity party, which took place on 20 March at the Tolstoy Club. Proceeds went to the Puhachivskiy Orphanage. Anna Shvager, an Accounting Services specialist, was a co-organizer of the event and mobilized her colleagues to join in. The initiative gathered UAH 30,000 for repairs at the orphanage.

• EY volunteers greeted Second World War veterans on Victory Day with flowers, gifts, letters of greeting and sincere words of appreciation. Addresses of the veterans were collected from staffers, who passed along contact information for relatives, neighbors, acquaintances and the like who had taken part in the war. We had the opportunity to get

acquainted with eight veterans and thank Nataliia Darmenko, Olga Shibanova, Olga Ivanchuk, Anna Antonova, Viktoriia Kleinova, Natalia Telenkova and Maryna Shtaltovna for taking part in the action. "I feel deep respect for the older generation. It was a great honor to personally congratulate the veterans on Victory Day. I could see how important our attention was to these older people," says Olga Shibanova, marketing specialist at EY Transactions Advisory, and a participant in the action.

• We conducted a third Donor Day at the Kyiv office. Eighteen people joined in the campaign on 7 June. Congratulations to the courageous employees and students who responded to our call and visited the medical post at the office that day. Lack of blood remains an urgent issue in the country and we are pleased that the number of our donors is increasing with every event. "You get a very pleasant feeling of having done something very important. When will the next Donor Day be? I'm ready to get involved!" says Iurii Timonin, one of the participants, and a Consultant in EY Sustainable Development Services.

• EY financed an operation for Mariya Kulidobrova, one of the graduates of the Ivaniv Boarding School, which EY sponsors. The girl had problems with her diction, and after a series of consultations surgery was scheduled. We are very happy that the operation was successful, and it will definitely change Mariya's life for the better.

• We supported the Blagofest charity festival of sweets, which took place in late May in Kyiv, providing both sweets and money. The EY HR Department’s Sima Fomina and Nastia Ovchynnikova also volunteered for the event. The event raised UAH 37,800, which will be used to purchase bicycles for children with cerebral palsy.

• The company has traditionally supported the American Chamber of Commerce charity picnic, and this year was no exception, with 16 volunteers helping during the event. The money the picnic generated will be used for social enterprises in Ukraine.

• We greeted our wards at the Ivaniv Boarding School, the Bila Tserkva Rehabilitation Center for Children and the Snizhne Orphanage on the occasion of the completion of the school year. As usual, the kids were happy with our gifts, even happier with the games and competitions that we had in store for them, and happiest yet for some friendly interaction. EY company volunteers also presented this year’s ”Best Pupil" honorees with prizes. The prizes were well-deserved rewards for hard work and should inspire others to be diligent students.

Thank to the campaign 3400 UAH was collected for Kiril’s treatment. We thank all the participants and the manager of Bochka pub Andriy Volodymyrovych for the support.

EY takes home Amber Angel award for charity We are extremely happy about EY’s showing in the Charitable Ukraine competition, in which we took first place among large companies.

Our Friendship program, which was presented at the competition, consists of a set of initiatives in support of orphans.

For over eight years we’ve provided complex care for children from three orphanages. This care has included volunteer trips for children, joint activities, employee-led training sessions and workshops, education programs and support for students and orphans.

The award is an acknowledgment of our sincere efforts in making long-term differences in the lives of orphans.

This award belongs to all EY employees who have given to and volunteered for our charity activities. The Amber Angel trophy, which has been a presence in the company offices since March of this year, is a reminder of the work we’ve done and should inspire us towards more good deeds.
