2020-2021-HOME SCHOOL STUDENTS As many of our families have chosen the home school op-tion this year it is important that you stay current on your end with the “Blessed Are We” chapter exams and re-member to email them to your catechist when completed. All families were given the Catechist email at the beginning of the year. Our Catechists will follow up if they do not re-ceive these in a timely way. Thank you for your coopera-tion!

NEW PARISH OFFICE HOURS

Annette will be in the office on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 A.M. until 3:00 P.M. Please take the opportu-nity to conduct parish business at these times. Reserva-tions for weekend Masses will continue and must come through the office. Please do not call Annette in Jermyn when she is working there and do not give a verbal reserva-tion to Fr. Gerard, Deacon Jerry or Beverly Lepri. This will keep it centralized in the office so no one is mixed up or disappointed. +

EASTER FLOWER DONATIONS Please remember to memorialize your Easter Flower donations. These envelopes will be placed on the altar during the Easter Season and a list of donations $10 or more will be in a special insert to our bulletin.

+ COURTESY ANNOUNCEMENT

Genevieve Lupini, Tax Collector, announces because of COVID-19 and for your safety and that of the office person-nel, that residents mail in their 2021 Jessup Borough Tax Payments to: Jessup Tax Collector, 395 Lane Street, Jes-sup, PA 18434. Also, you can leave your tax payments in the locked mailbox at the rear of the Borough Building.

+ Give me justice, O God, and plead my cause against a nation that is faithless. From the deceitful and cunning rescue me,

for you, O God, are my strength. Psalm 43:1-2

2021 PARISH CARE RENEWAL Lent has begun and our efforts toward the Diocesan An-nual Appeal conclude. Now we can focus locally on our Parish Care Renewal. We will not have a pledge Sunday with commitment cards this year. But please consider your weekly offerings toward the support of Queen of Angels Parish. There are some parishioners who are struggling and doing what they can week to week. Oth-ers may find it possible to make an increase of your weekly offering. Even if it is $1 or $2, that makes a dif-ference. If 100 people increased their weekly offering, that would make a big difference. They key activity is consistency. The roller coaster collections of last year at this time made us a bit nervous since churches were closed and we relied solely on mailed-in offerings. Things have improved over the last 12 months, but we always need to consider best practices in our parish stewardship, our viability as a parish, and our healthy future. Thank you for the sacrifices made already. God bless you all!

+ OPPORTUNITIES FOR

CONFESSION DURING LENT There is one remaining Reconciliation Session left be-fore Holy Week. Reservations and mask wearing are necessary for this service. Thursday, March 25th-6:30 P.M. Please be prompt as the service will begin at 6:30 P.M.

+ APRIL LOTTERY TICKETS-290 LEFT!

GET YOURS TODAY! We really need to sell 500 tickets to make it a successful fund-raiser. We have two weekends left. Let’s make a he-roic effort to get them all sold! If you are interested in being a ticket seller, contact the Parish Office and An-nette will be happy to help you.

+ JESUS TREE ADDITIONS

The First Holy Communion Class will be adding one more item to the Jesus Tree. It reflects their study of the Last Supper story in Sacred Scripture. The Last Supper-Jesus at the Table with His Disciples

Over the years we had such a backlog of Mass Inten-tions so much so that weekday and weekend Masses would fill up right away. At this time we are experienc-ing a shortage of Mass intentions, especially for use during weekdays. If you are interested in scheduling Masses for your loved ones, (especially for weekdays) please call the Parish Office and speak to Annette. She will tell you what is available at this time. Thank you.

In your March Envelope packet you will find the offering envelopes for the Bread Basket, Easter Flowers, Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Palm Sunday. These are important

collections for the church year. Your generosity is appreciated. God bless you!

The Presence of God I pause for a moment and think of the love and the grace God showers on me. I am created in the image and like-ness of God; I am God’s dwelling place.

+ Freedom

Lord, you granted me the great gift of freedom. In these times, O Lord, grant that I may be free from any form of racism or intolerance. Remind me that we are all equal in your loving eyes.

+ Consciousness

Knowing that God loves me unconditionally, I can af-ford to be honest about how I am. How has the day been, and how do I feel now? I share my feelings openly with the Lord.

+ The Word

[ The word of God comes down to us through the Scrip-tures. May the Holy Spirit enlighten my mind and my heart to respond to the Gospel teachings: to love my neighbor as myself, to care for my sisters and brothers in Christ. ]

+ Some Greeks who had come to worship at the Passover Feast came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, and asked him, “Sir, we would like to see Jesus.” Philip went and told Andrew; then Andrew and Philip went and told Jesus. Jesus answered them, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. Amen, amen I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it re-mains just a grain of wheat; but if it does, it produces much fruit. Whoever loves his life will lose it, and whoever hates his life in this world will preserve it for eternal life. Whoever serves me must follow me, and where I am, there also will my servant be. The Father will honor whoever serves me. + “I am troubled now. Yet what should I say? ‘Father, save me from this hour’? But it was for this pur-pose that I came to this hour. Father, glorify your name.” Then a voice came from heaven, “I have glorified it and will glorify it again.” The crowd there heard it and said it was thunder; but others said, “An angel has spoken to him.” Jesus answered and said, “This voice did not come for my sake but for yours. Now is the time of judgment on this world; now the ruler of this world will be driven out. And when I am lifted up from the earth, I will draw every-one to myself.” He said this indicating the kind of death he would die.

+ Conversation

Sometimes I wonder what I might say if I were to meet you in person, Lord. I think I might say, “Thank you” because you are always there for me.

+ Conclusion

I thank God for these moments we have spent together and for any insights I have been given concerning the text.

MONTHLY SUMMARY OF OUR PARISH BILLS Week 1-Payroll, ACS Technologies, Verizon Wireless, Church Envelopes and UGI Utilities. Week-2-PPL Electric Utilities, Comcast Phone and TV, PA American Water, Frontier, Copier Lease and Glen Summit Water. Week-3-Verizon, Vector Security, Diocese of Scranton School System Week-4-Diocese of Scranton Assessments (employee’s insurance, priest’s retirement, building insurances, priest insurance, employee retirement and payroll charge). Calculating the loss of income from March, April and May and the low collections since then, our parish needs to make up a deficit of $36,000. We used some of our fund-raising money and a helpful loan for employee use only during this time. Please remember your parish on a weekly basis and remember to send your envelopes in. Thank you.
