THE CHRISTIAN LIFE IS A RESPONSE TO THE INVITATION INTO THE LIFE OF GOD—WHO IS FATHER, SON AND HOLY

“Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.” - Mt 28:19-20

RECTORY OFFICE CLOSED

In observation of the Memorial Day Holiday, the Rectory office will be closed Friday, May 25th, Monday, May 28th and Tuesday, May 29st. The office will reopen on Wednesday, May 30th at 10 AM.

ST. VINCENT de PAUL SOCIETY

Today as we celebrate Pentecost the Holy Spirit wants to make us advocates of God’s presence to bring new life to others, especially those who do not know the love of God in their lives. Your gift in the St. Vincent de Paul poor box will help the poor to believe in the mystery of God’s love for them.

VOCATIONS The Holy Spirit sends seven gifts to us. By calling upon these gifts, we are both made aware of God’s will for us, and are given the strength to pursue it. If God is calling you to a Church vocation call Fr. Andrew Lauricella at 716-847-5535. You can also check out the “Priest of the Month” stories on our website-www.buffalovocations.org!

CATHOLIC CHARITIES

Catholic Charities can be the light at the end of the tunnel. If you have a child ages 12-17 who is displaying chronic behaviors such as noncompliance, verbal and/or physical aggression, truancy, school failure, not following curfew, running away, illegal substance abuse and/or criminal activity in two or more environments (home, school and/or community), consider our Multisystemic Therapy Program in Erie, Niagara, Cattaraugus, and Allegany counties. MST is an intensive, family-focused intervention provided the natural environment of the youth. Interventions are research-based and the program offers 24/7 availability. For more information on Catholic Charities MST program, call 716-204-0555, ext. 330 or visit www.ccwny.org. In other WNY counties, office-based counseling is always available to families. “Love your neighbor.” Gal 5:14 Appeal 2018 is still ongoing. Donate at www.ccwny,org/donation.

ACTIVATE PENTECOST- LIVE YOUR FAITH The measure of a man’s faith is the intensity of the presence of Jesus in his life. We can debate and fret over matter of doctrine until we’re exhausted, but unless Jesus is alive in our hearts and in our actions, it’s idolatrous. WE BELIEVE that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, the promised Messiah. We believe that he arose from the dead-and that His resurrection was not some sort of legend or a group hallucination, but a real, physical and historical event. Without this cornerstone to our faith, as St. Peter observed, Christianity is ludicrous. We’re living in a time of tremendous theological ferment and doubt. But if we regard this as a tragedy, we’re missing the point. On the contrary, these challenges are a purification, and invitation to prayer, a great opportunity to witness. On the first Pentecost, the apostles abandoned their selfish fears and ambiguities and went into the world to be fools for Christ, to proclaim passionately and joyfully– that Jesus the Risen Lord, is the way to eternal life. It’s time we did the same!
