Running from lunchtime on Friday, February 13th through to the evening of Saturday, 14th - St Valentine’s Day, of course! - we will be serving a mouthwatering range of Italian cuisine to those celebrating the most loved- up 24 hours of the year. But you don’t have to be Romeo and Juliet to enjoy our Italian flavours. Bring the kids along for lunch or an early supper and you’ll find an array of Valentine’s crafts to keep them occu- pied. In addition, each child will be given a key following a tradition originating in Padua, where children get small golden keys to ward off epi- lepsy. Did you know that as well as being linked to lovers and romance, St Valentine is also the patron saint for epilepsy (also known as St Valentine’s Malady), fainting and beekeepers? Please reserve a table for your chance to enjoy a taste of Italy - including homemade pizzas - in Broad Chalke’s dedi- cated trattoria/pizzeria (otherwise known as our dining room!). It is likely to be a popular event because as well as offering guests the opportunity to savour our themed menu in ro- mantic surroundings, our St Valentine’s celebrations culminate with Italian tenor Michele Ci singing live from 8pm on Satur- day evening. Check out his amazing reper- toire at www.michelecirignano.com Other events to look out for in February include Shrove Tuesday (Feb 17), when we will add some pancake specials to our menu. Looking further ahead, we are planning some exciting Irish-themed entertainment and food the following month to mark St Patrick’s Day on March 17 - Irish stew and Guinness any- one? And on Mothering Sunday (March 15), we will have children’s crafts available and a special gift for dining mums. St Valentine’s Day Italian style? That’s amore! Some say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so we thought it only right that we

should add it to our food and drink offering. We can provide a range of choices from a hearty full

English to eggs how you like ‘em (on toast, boiled with soldiers, etc), as well as bacon and sausage

sarnies that will set you up for the day. We even offer a Champagne brekkie for special occasions.

We often have guests in our cosy B&B rooms, so we’re usually in the kitchen cooking up a break-

fast of champions for them. However, we need to know in advance if you are planning to come for

an early-morning treat, so please book ahead. Breakfast is available daily from 8.30-10am (last

orders at 9.30am). We will be throwing our doors open for breakfast from Monday, February 2.

In most issues of our

Newsletter we like to high-

light different Badger-

branded ales brewed by

Hall & Woodhouse. This

time it’s the turn of peren-

nial favourite, Tanglefoot.

First brewed in the 1980s,

this award-winning golden ale has hints

of melon and pears developed during

the fermentation process. Here’s our at-

a-glance guide:

Smell: Crisp/sweet, spicy

overtones

Colour: Light amber,

copper

Taste: Fruit, scented hop,

cereal

Availability: All year round

ABV: 4.9% as a cask ale /

5% in bottles.

Eat with: Steaks and hearty dishes -

also makes an ideal ingredient for steak

and ale pies.

Whether it’s a wedding reception, anniversary meal, christening, baby shower, special

birthday, or just a romantic meal for two, The Queen’s Head provides the ideal venue for

any celebration.

Our charming dining room is well suited to both intimate dinners as well as large parties

looking to hold an event in style.

We know that everyone’s requirements are individual, so we are keen to discuss how

we can help to make your special occasion extra-special.

The dining room can seat up to 50 guests for a delicious home-cooked, sit-down meal,

but can also accommodate buffet parties, so please ask us for advice on numbers.
