October 2015

This year we will once again be extending a warm,

wintertime welcome to those who want to let us

take the stress out of the Christmas Day cooking

with our delicious lunch (noon-3pm). Priced at

£59.95, it features a welcome drink, plus four

courses with dishes to suit all tastes, including

traditional turkey with all the trimmings.

There are also some special party menus for the

run-up to Christmas, which offer a fantastic op-

portunity to those wanting to catch up with

friends, family or colleagues for a seasonal cele-

bration. Prices are £19.95 for two courses and

£24.95 for three. £10 deposits per head are re-

quired. Children’s meals cost half the price of

adult menus.

We’re also planning a great New Year’s Eve

event with a tasty buffet plus entertainment to get

you in the party mood for seeing in 2016. More

information will follow, but let us know if you want

to be kept up to date with our plans.

If you want to know why we have a Discworld

Baron in the pub, pop in and find out about

this tribute to our late, great neighbour - and

Queen’s Head regular - Sir Terry Pratchett.

In our newsletters we like to highlight different

Badger-branded beers produced by Blandford-

based brewers Hall & Woodhouse. This time, we

focus on a new seasonal ale, Glorious Game,

whose launched is timed to coincide with the

Rugby World Cup and Cask Ale Week (September

24 - October 4 - technically more than a week, but

when it comes to good ale, who’s counting?).

The ale is the result of a collaboration between the

Hall & Woodhouse brewing team and Slovenian

hop farmers. It combines British and European

malt styles with a trio of Slovenian hops: aromatic,

pine-like Dana and Bobek, plus citrusy Celeia to

give a refreshing ale that’s full of character.

Here’s our at-a-glance guide, but if you want to

try before you buy, ask for a sample at the bar:
