Overview DataSet™ Vision enables users, whatever their skills level, to extract, analyze and edit reports from enterprise data (production databases or Datawarehouses) without needing to use SQL. You can publish and share your analysis by exporting to several types of files (Excel, PDF, HTML, ASCII etc) or by feeding a local database, or the database you wish, to create your own Datawarehouse or Infocentre. You can use DataSet Vision to span data analysis areas such as customers, products, services, supply chain, human resources, finance, security log monitoring or compliance. Authors have the ability to create reports containing any number of objects: lists, and charts as well as images, dynamic HTML items and logos that can all be linked with one another to provide greater context Database Access To guarantee the best performances form every DBMS (Database Management System) on the market, DataSet Vision offers optimized native access to relational databases: AS400 (iSeries), DB2-UDB, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server. This removes the need to install and configure ODBC pilots for the above list. For other relational databases, all ODBC pilots are supported by default. Local Database Integrated local SQL Server 2005 Express database. Data Export Queries and reports can be exported in the following formats: Excel, HTML, XML, ASCII, Word and in PDF (DataSet Vision integrates a PDF Distiller). You can also create output formats to the data source bases (write, table updates). Report Generator Inserts sub-reports, graphics and additional calculation formulas. Graphics are fed by a query. Reports can be grouped in a folder for batch printing or batch PDF generation. Conditional formatting. Export to Excel, if the report includes breaks, then they are inserted as sub-totals in Excel (with row hierarchies by level). Automation It is possible to create any type of application in Visual Basic Script or in Visual Basic Application via the integration of the OLE Automation protocol. EBIS Easily develop a graphic interface to create your own push button applications without needing any programming experience. Any user, whatever their level, can run queries, reports and exports by entering various parameters, in an easy and intuitive manner.

Everybody’s Business Intelligence Cubes A DataSet EBI (Everybody’s Business Intelligence) Cube Option is available for use with DataSet Vision. DataSet™ EBI Cubes enable you to generate, view and manipulate multi-dimensional data in real-time from DataSet Vision queries on any data source supported by DataSet Vision.

Cubes can then be manipulated independently, via the Internet, or offline. You can manipulate cubes without necessarily being connected to the data source simply by exporting the *.hta cube files. DataSet EBI Cubes can be manipulated without any DataSet™ product, for example via Microsoft Excel. Cubes can be refreshed at any time, by reconnecting to the database.

Cubes can be generated on-the-fly, to provide highly interactive and powerful Web-based OLAP navigation. For example, view alternate drill paths in a single dimension to provide different perspectives on the same data. For example, view Human Resources data by region, then by job function. DataSet™ EBI Cubes offer sophisticated filtering. Filtering excludes unnecessary data and helps you focus on only the most relevant information. Filtering options include context (showing a particular view of the data), suppression of nulls/zeros, and top/bottom values (for example top 100 customers or lowest 50 sales performers).
