Continuing nearly 40 years of pioneering innovation in endocrinology testing Quest has redefined best-practice recommendations for adrenal function testing, sex steroid disorders, and metabolic disorders due to the success of its wide range of mass spectrometry innovations, including:

Liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry (LC/MS/MS) assays Accurate measurement of the key active component in the regulation of blood pressure is challenging, traditionally requiring a large number of assays and up to 18 hours. Quest-developed LC/MS/MS assays provide a more efficient test for screening hypertensive patients.

Insulin-like growth factor I (IGF-1) Measuring IGF-1 is useful in assessing growth-related disorders and nutritional status, but standard analysis methods yield high false-positive results. IGF-1 concentrations measured by Quest using a mass spectrometric method are accurate and well referenced by medical literature.

Thyroglobulin The effective monitoring of thyroid cancer relies on accurate detection of recurrence or residual tumors, a process disrupted when patients develop auto-antibodies, which interfere with traditional assay types. Our LC/MS/MS assay uniquely destroys these auto-antibodies in samples prior to analysis, allowing for accurate results.

Steroid Multiplexing In broad use at Quest laboratories, LC/MS/MS allows multiplexing of steroid hormone assays for simultaneous measurement of multiple hormones from a single sample, which requires only a minimal blood volume and yields highly accurate results in less time.
