In what way does your product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real

media products?

NarrativeThe narrative of the video fits with the conventions of a typical Indie music genre as it

focuses more on the narrative of the story than the performance and I tried to develop the narrative of my video to make it more interesting like most Indie videos do. Examples of

artists that have good narrative videos are Hozier, Of Monster and men and The luminaires.

I decided to challenge the music industry by creating an unconventional narrative for my video as most music videos tend to focus on visualizing the body (normally the female

body) I know the Indie genre does not do this as much but it something that can be seen in many videos from many genres. I decided I didn’t want to focus on the body I wanted it to be just about the narrative and the story I wanted to tell. I took inspiration from Hozier’s

Take me to church as the story for my narrative was about a man searching for another man but never quite been in the right quite at the right time. I thought this was a fairy

unconventional narrative as many people don’t tend to do things like this.

ColourMost Indie videos tends to use the grey scale to signify the emotions that you should feel while watching the video but I felt like to many videos did this so I wanted to be

different and challenge this so I decided to try and create the same effect using different methods so Instead of graining the colour from the video I tried to over exaggerate the

colours to try and make them look strange and hallucinogenic.
