7) Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

•Looking back at my preliminary task, my codes and conventions have really helped me to grasp the concept and look of magazines; they helped me to view what the audience wanted to see and what would attract them to the magazine. I also learnt how to pay attention to detail and that subtle changes can make a big improvement.

•Furthermore I learnt how to make a magazine look professional, in comparison to my student magazine, which looked quite cheesy and basic. I knew that making a magazine look professional it automatic draws someone in.

Time Management

• From my preliminary task I’ve really learnt how to manage and improve my time management. I’ve been able to follow the deadlines set for each individual task, as well as allowing myself only a week to edit each main task drafts; As I had some experience from the preliminary task I became much more organised.

• Additionally because of our short deadlines I learnt how to make quicken my decision making, instead of spending hours been indecisive, as I knew how I wanted the end product to be.

• Throughout this project I learnt that I needed to follow the requirements of the exam board. Originally I wanted to use 3 images as I wanted to emphasis this minimalistic sleek look, although after realising I needed a minimum of 4 images, I added my final picture for my editor’s note to meet the requirements.

• Finally my skills on Photoshop from the preliminary task had sufficiently improved. I started this the basic knowledge of cropping and adding text, but as I moved to the main task I learnt how to remove the background from the image, and add effects to make it look brighter/darker and much more.
