Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?Question 7

Technical Skills

I’d say my technical skills have gotten better, for the fact that I have memorised more shortcuts in software like InDesign or Photoshop.

I have also learnt a great deal about publishing houses from this unit, as I knew some little bits here and there but now I know different Publication houses such as Bauer and Future.

Do I think about my content more now?

Definitely, I now know to think not only about it being aesthetically pleasing, but also they message it conveys to the public about my magazine and also how it portrays the target audience themselves.

Was I more organised?

I was definitely more organised than in the first unit, I feel I used my class time well by doing the things I knew I could struggle on and my home time to do things that I knew would be relatively easy and simple for me.

Was I more creative?

Yes, I certainly think I was, I was very ambitious in setting myself all of the usual work but also the work to do for the concept art, because the piece I created took about 5 - 5.5 hours to complete, and a photo wouldn’t have taken that long.

I also think I was quite ambitious because I went for a genre that nobody has really covered as a full magazine yet.

Did I re-use ay ideas from the first unit?

The only idea that I continued from the college magazine would be the use of the square masthead for the front cover, other than that I had to use all new ideas and material.
