2. FRONTCOVERS 3. My school magazine was not following avariety of the codes and conventions forexample; the title can not the title cannotjust be put in the middle of the magazine iteither has to be stretched out and fill thetop of the magazine or if it is a one wordtitle then it should be put in the left handcorner. Also, the date and price is just way too big. Usually should be at least 10pt and not 14pt so its hidden but still able to see for the audience.I have also failed in the way that there istoo much writing which also means it isgiving off way too much information. Theamount of writing makes the magazinelook extremely cramped and the font sizesare so random. As you can see I have used a small fonton my magazine and by turning it on theside gives the magazine an edge, and byputting it up against the barcode it savesmore space. 4. Direct Address The front cover uses direct address, which speaks to the audience as if itis looking at them and that would usually draw them in, as it creates arelationship with the customers. It generates new business leads andsells. As well as, with the existing customers which will increasing thecustomers loyalty as the direct address can speak to them on manydifferent levels. 5. Although, on my school magazine I did usedirect address, except the quality of the pictureswas not as good as my music magazine (As youcan tell by looking at the fuzziness of thiscropped pictures). That made the schoolmagazine seem less professional then themusic magazine, and seems that it does notwant to make a good magazine for the audiencewhich I learnt and made sure the quality of mypictures were at a high level so that it wouldincrease in buyers, this also shows in my musicmagazine that I had improved in myphotography skills as I followed up with theknowledge of different angles to add a niceeffect when it came to putting it on mymagazine. 6. Cover lines Furthermore, on the school magazine some of the cover lines are hard to read asthe colours would sink too much into the background which would make it harderto be seen from a distant from the audience and lose out on profit whereas on mymusic magazine I used a fine line of the opposite colours so that the cover lineswould stand out and look professional, and this would make a huge change andthis will allow the audience to notice the cover lines from the distant and they canthen know that they would want to buy the magazine when it is jumping out onthem, And some cover lines on the school magazine are too big and overlap insome areas and this can make the magazine look unprofessional, the coloursseem little tacky in the way that Ive changed the font size and made some bolderthinking that it would look good when instead it looks extremely jumbled up. 7. This then allowed to me to not do that on my music magazine and I set it out sothat it was spread out keeping the same colour in each cover line and changedcertain words to blue this added a good effect where the blue would stand outand due to the questionnaire that I did they chose the colour blue so by theaudience choosing that colour I added it onto the magazine this would allow theaudience to feel as if they are a part of the magazine that we listened to them. 8. School magazine Also, on the school magazine I am missingcertain codes and conventions which are;the position statement which is the littlewriting that goes under the title as a littleslogan for the magazine, the main cover lineis missing this is where the cover links to theimage on the front cover, the barcode on thebottom of the school magazine is too big tobe a barcode so its breaking that when itshould at least be the size on my musicmagazine which I realised and then madesure that I changed it to fit the codes andconventions. 9. Comparing Moreover, from the front cover of my school magazine its more or less the fact thatby looking at both of my front covers my music magazine just looks a whole lotmore like an actual magazine then the school magazine you can just tell how muchI have actually improved whilst working on this coursework from the colour, photography skill, following all the codes and conventions and following allinstructions that I was helped with. 10. CONTENT PAGE 11. Following on, the contents page has definitelyimproved massively in the way that in looking atmy content it looks so rubbish in moredescription it only contains 9 featured articleswhen its suppose to contain 20 articlesminimum and the regulars should not be in themiddle of the magazine and only containing like4 regulars. 12. Improvements Which from my improved magazine I have followedmy mistakes and I have made about 22 articles and 8regulars which has been set out in a nice order withthe band/artist in a bolder way so the reader cannotice where their favourite artist is. Also, I have keptboth Features and Regulars to one column whichthen allows there to be more space for the 5 picturesto go when on my school magazine I only have 4pictures which dont even link to the features or evenmake sense in that matter, it doesnt really give thereaders for the school magazine to have manyoptions to even look at really, and the pictures are ina rubbish condition which from improvement, Ilearned lots of different angles which is reflect ontomy music magazine, content page and gives it thatinteresting touch. I am still proud with the content page that I haveproduced, as even just by looking at both my schoolmagazine and music magazine I know that I haveimproved which I am glad that my skills haveprogressed. 13. Photoshop and QuarkXPress By using the different programmes QuarkXPress and Photoshop means that Iknow have more confidence when I need to work on these programmes againas future wise I will know what Im doing, as I did have a small idea on how touse Photoshop since I had used it before whereas I had never usedQuarkXPress before so that was good to learn some new things and onPhotoshop. 14. DOUBLE PAGED SPREAD 15. Although I didnt do a double paged spread for my school magazine so Icouldnt exactly improve but I did experience the fact I can make a doublepaged spread which I found good because we got to experience what it waslike to be a journalist since we had to interview a member of a band andthen write out the article. As well as that we needed to take pictures of theband which was interesting, felt so professional whilst doing it all. 16. Conclusion I found that what I was actually good in was my photography skillsas I understood the different shots and that helped when I wastaking the pictures for my magazine, content page and DPS I haddefinitely taken some interesting shots that was fun to explore, and Ienjoyed taking the pictures as it was fun to boss my model aroundand try some new things. What I didnt do too good through thisexperience would definitely be my organisation skills as I only hadmy work backed up on my memory stick and I would keeping losingit, Also didnt do to good at keeping to some of the deadlines that Iwas given but I have improved there as I actually enjoy doing someof the work so it isnt really that stressful than I thought it would be.But overall, I have certainly made a product that has been improvedin the last 6months which is definitely a good outcome as it ispointless to do something and not have improved from it.
