  1. 1. Questionnaire analysis In the first question of my indie rock questionnaire I asked my target audience where they mostly listen to their music. This question is to ease them into the questionnaire and just to find out more about the audience. It also tells me how much they listen to music because of where they are. The most popular answer for this question was while on journeys walking or on public transport. Knowing that my target audience listen to music on the move tells me that they may be on the move quite a lot therefore my magazine should also be available in travel size. The second question of the questionnaire was asking the target audience how often they buy music magazine. This again is just a general question getting to know the audience more and how much music is a part of their lives. The third question is more relevant to my music magazine as it asks who their favourite indie artist is. As shown on the pie chart to the left, the majority of the feedback was that The 1975 was the most popular and a favourite. Close behind by one vote was Arctic Monkeys indicating that this is also a current popular indie band. This will influence my practical work as I know who the target audience likes and what bands and artists will attract them to show interest in my magazine. The bands should be shown to the audience on the front cover and content page because they are the most popular choice that the audience wants to see. The forth question is asking the audience where they find new music to listen to. This question was relevant to my practical piece as it I tells me if I should be including new and upcoming artists that the readership should know about. The results of the questionnaire show that no one checks out new music from magazines anymore and is mostly online only. This tells me that I dont need to take up much space on new artists as it doesnt fully affect the readership. However if the audience do see the new upcoming artists and the magazines opinions on them it will affect the readerships opinions on the band too. 26%22% 13% 9% 9% 22% Who is your favourite Indie artist? 2. 2. The fifth question also influences what will be included in my practical piece. It is asking the target audience how often they attend indie gigs. This tells me if I should be included information about gig dates and telling the readership the best places to be. The information given back through the questionnaire tells me that a lot of the target audience like indie gigs therefore I should include information they will want to read about. The puff on my front cover will be a good way on getting the readerships attention about gigs. The sixth question I asked in my questionnaire was asking the respondents how much they check the music charts. I asked this question to, again, find out how much music is a part of their lives and how interested they are in popular music or start out music that isnt very popular. I got a lot of mix in response between weekly and monthly. This tells me that the audience does listen to popular music not only new starting off music. This will influence my work and tell me I should include music that appears in the charts as they are popular with my target audience. However in the seventh question I asked where do they check the music in the charts. There wasnt much variety for answers with this question as 90% of respondents said they check the charts online. This tells me that I do not need to include the charts in my magazine as none of the respondents said that they check the charts through a music magazine. The eighth question was also asking the audience how much music features in their lives through a scale of 1-10. The results show that 65% of the target audience said it featured in their lives 9 or higher out of 10. This tells me that my music magazine needs to important and relevant to that audience. The ninth question asked what other genre of music the audience listens to. The responses tell me that no one listened to indie rock only. There was a variety of other genres shown mostly pop and R&B. This could influence my work to possibly include artists who sometimes produce pop or R&B as well as indie rock. This will appeal to my target audience as they would enjoy the variety. The last question asked the readership how much they would spend on a music magazine, I asked the respondents to choose between the prices of free-1.49, 1.50-3.49 or 3.50 or more. The results tell me that the majority of the target audience would pay between 1.50- 3.49. This tells me how much I should price my magazine so the readership wont be put off by the price.
