QUESTIONNAIRE ANALYSIS George Gibbard

Page 2: Questionnaire analysis

Question 1From this first question I was trying to work out whether people who would normally read a sports magazine would read it because of the articles inside. What I was able to find out was that they would normally read it to find out about scores from the weekend and how people rated the players performances. This meant that when I make my product I'm going to have to try to entice people into reading my article this could be done by having preview and reviews in it and having articles on the clubs next to them.

Question 2What I gathered from the next question was about the layout and how it need to be basic but attractive this could be done by having an organised layout which is the same most of the way through the magazine. There also needs to be more focus on the text meaning that there shouldn’t be to many pictures and that the pictures that are chosen are able to explain what is being said in the text. Finally there needs to be a headline which stands out and is able to entice the reader into your work.

Question 3 This question meant that I was able to work out whether they was going to read an article again the main reasons why. From this I was able to work out my article needs to be of a good length so that its not to long that they want to read it again because they forgot what was at the start. The quality of the article is important as well because if its to a high standard people are going to want to read it again. Also the subject matter and how biased it is if the article subject matter doesn’t interest the reader its less likely they are going to read it again and also how biased it is if its not they should be able to read it again.

Question 4They papers that they would expect to see a bad report of Millwall are papers such as the sun because of there precious history with other clubs such as Liverpool they seem to be able to find the bad in the situations that occur and over emphasise them to make the fans look bad. I believe papers tend to stereotype teams in a bad way is so that they are able to target a wider audience as football fans are not going to want to read a piece on how good of a club Millwall are.

Question 5This question would show what type of read they enjoy the most when reading about football. The report was chosen first this is because of the generalisation of the game meaning that you font have to watch the whole game to get an understanding. Secondly interviews or analysis was chosen this was chosen due to them being able to understand the ideas from other people point of view meaning they are able to understand the game in different ways. This shows that news stories are not often read meaning that the readers need to be enticed into it this could be done through a catchy headline or an interview inside of the news story.

Question 6This question I got the first thing that came to there heads about millwall and all of there answer didn’t include anything to do with football. There answers included fighting and the hooligan stereotype and reputation that Millwall have. In my work I want to change this to try and get the first thing that comes to there head being the football team or the club being good with there community work that they do.

Question 7I was able to work out from the questions that the stereotyping that millwall are given is harsh on the club but is also true. But that they are given a stereotype that they are given as a scape goat by the media because they have a past reputation of violence and causing trouble but have changed that and the media still see that Millwall are a way of seeing the bad side of English football. I want to prove in my work that Millwall are not a club that are well known for the trouble that they cause and also to try and prove that big clubs such as Chelsea can also cause trouble but it can seem to slip under the radar.

Question 8From the questions I was able to see that only some people are able to see that Millwall are treated differently to other clubs and this means that they are given a worse perception by other fans and other teams. This has a effect on Millwall as a club as it means that they are likely to sell less tickets as people in the local area don’t want to go to a game because of what happens. And also means that less away fans are likely to go to the games because of the reputation that millwall has and the fans that do go are going to be looking for a fight again starting the vicious circle.

Question 9From the question we was able to find out that there is a mixed balance in that some people think that when millwall do go to away games there is different policing used and different tactics used to help control the fans. Whereas other people believe that there is no difference between Millwall fans and fans of other clubs.

Question 10 The question that was asked had given me the feedback that was because of the story only reaching a local audience it wouldn’t have a massive effect becuase of it only going out to the people in the local area who are most probably already millwall fans so its not likely to change there perception. Also it means that my work can’t be biased because if so it will not be able to change the view of everyone else because of it not being a balanced argument.
