New AlbanyIU Southeast is located in historic New Albany, Indiana— just a short drive from three of the nation’s largest metropolitans.
Some universities are too big, some are too small and then you find one that’s 180-acres of just right.
Indiana University Southeast brings you the research and resources of a big name university, makes it affordable, and delivers it in a location that is convenient for you. Our students discover possibility every day, in labs and studios across campus, fieldwork overseas, and 10 miles across town in the city known as Possibility City, Louisville, Kentucky.

At IU Southeast, we believe that every student has possibility, and we teach them to capitalize on it.
We know success is bred by preparation, so we put you in classrooms where you are a name instead of a number, with professors who can magnify your strengths and help you tackle your weaknesses. Getting students ready for life after graduation is at the root of all we do. We believe what’s special about our programs is that they build more than a will for success, they build a will to prepare for success.
Earning an IU degree is a possibility for every student. From our Honors Program to our on-campus childcare facility, we want to make sure each student is supported on their quest for academic excellence. Students enter college at various times in life and under different circumstances, which is why we created our Adult Learner Center and Student Veterans Programs.

Some needs, however, are universal. Like the need to have a paper edited in The Writing Center, the desire to enhance coursework through Study Abroad opportunities, the guidance of a mentor at the Center for Mentoring, or career counseling and résumé development through the Career Development Center. That’s why they’re here.
IU Southeast field biology students studied Amazon River Dolphins during a trip to Manaus, a city in the upper Amazon region of Brazil.
The Horizon won a 2015 Pacemaker Award from the Associated Collegiate Press. Casually referred to as the “Pulitzer of collegiate press,” the award is considered the highest accolade in college journalism.
IU Southeast is a place to begin ground-breaking research, studying embryonic feeder cells in a lab, and it is also a place where you can simultaneously explore interests, community, and experiences. Our campus boasts over 100 student clubs and organizations, exploring things like religion,

multicultural issues, politics, special interests, and professional goals. Whether your thing is Greek letters or Japanese Pop Culture, we’ve got you covered. We’ve also got it literally covered via The Horizon, our student newspaper, a favorite activity among journalism majors.

IU Southeast is seated right where country roads collide with city lights. Go 10 miles north to visit the Knobstone Trail, Indiana’s longest hiking trail, or 10 miles south to Louisville, home of a vibrant arts scene with all four major performing arts organizations, three Fortune 500 companies,
a professional soccer club, and USA Today’s No. 2 ranked minor league ballpark, Slugger Field. If the Louisville lights don’t draw you in, you can stop two miles short of the city and take in one of Indiana’s most impressive natural wonders, Falls of the Ohio State Park.

“IU Southeast has been quite important
to me personally and professionally. I appreciated
the mix of classroom and hands-on learning there, and I especially
enjoyed the close relationships I had with a number of professors—that’s hard
to establish at a larger campus.
IU Southeast has prepared countless people who hold leadership positions in our community,
and I never miss a chance to let people know that I’m one of those proud IUS products.”
