It is recommendedtouseInternetExplore8.0orabovetoaccesstheManaged Switch. If theWeb interface of theManaged Switchisnotaccessible,please turnoff theanti-virussoftwareor firewalland then try it again.

4. Terminal SetupThe GS4210-8P2T2S, GS-4210-24P4C and GS-4210-24PL4C are equipped with aconsole interface for localswitchsetupandmaintenance.Toconfigurethesystem,connect a serial cable to a COM port on a PC or notebook computer and to the RJ45typeoftheconsoleportoftheManagedSwitch.

A terminal program is required tomake the software connection to the ManagedSwitch.
1. Run terminal program on the OS.
2.When the following screen appears, make sure that the COM port should beconfiguredas:

zDatabits :8
zParity :None
zStopbits :1

Logon to the ConsoleOnce the terminal is connected to the device, power on theManaged Switch andtheterminalwilldisplay“runningtestingprocedures”.Then, the followingmessageasks to log-in user name and password. The factory default user name andpasswordareshownasfollows,andtheloginscreeninFigure5-1appears.

6.ConfiguringIPAddressviatheConsoleTheManagedSwitchisshippedwithdefaultIPaddressasfollows:

TocheckthecurrentIPaddressormodifyanewIPaddressfortheSwitch,pleaseusetheproceduresasfollows:

1.Atthe“GS-4210 Series#”prompt,enter“show ip”.
2.ThescreendisplaysthecurrentIPaddress,SubnetMaskandGatewayasshowninFigure6-1.

4.At the“GS-4210 Series(config)#” prompt, enter the following commandandpress <Enter>asshowninFigure6-2.

5.RepeatStep1tocheckiftheIPaddressischanged.
If the IP is successfully configured, the Managed Switch will apply the new IPaddress setting immediately. You can access the Web interface of the GS-4210ManagedSwitchSeriesthroughthenewIPaddress.
Note
If you are not familiar with console command or the relatedparameter, enter “?” anytime in console to get the help descrip-tion.

7.SavingtheConfigurationviatheConsoleIn the switch, the running configuration file stores in the RAM. In the currentversion, the running configuration sequence running-config canbe saved from theRAMtoFLASHbywriting the command or copying the running-config startup-configcommand,sothattherunningconfigurationsequencebecomesthestartupconfigurationfile,whichiscalledconfigurationsave.
At the “GS-4210 Series#” prompt, enter “copy running-config startup-config”asshowninFigure7-1.

8. Starting Web ManagementThe following shows how to start up the Web Management of the ManagedSwitch. Note the Managed Switch is configured through an Ethernet connection.Please make sure the manager PC must be set on the same IP subnet address.
For example, the default IP address of the Managed Switch is 192.168.0.100,then the manager PC should be set at 192.168.0.x (where x is a numberbetween1and254,except100),andthedefaultsubnetmaskis255.255.255.0.

The Switch Menu on the left of theWeb page lets you access all the commandsandstatisticstheManagedSwitchprovides.

Now, you can use the Web management interface to continue the Switchmanagement.

9.SavingConfigurationviatheWebIn the Managed Switch, the running configuration file stores in the RAM. In thecurrentversion,therunningconfigurationsequenceofrunning-configcanbesavedfrom the RAM to FLASH by “Save Configurations to FLASH” function, so thattherunningconfigurationsequencebecomesthestartupconfigurationfile,whichiscalledconfigurationsave.
To save all applied changes and set the current configuration as a startupconfiguration, the startup-configuration file will be loaded automatically across asystem reboot.
1. Click “Save > Save Configurations to FLASH” to login “ConfigurationManager”Page.
2. Press the “Apply” button to save running configuration to start up configura-tion.

10.RecoveringBacktoDefaultConfiguration IP Address has been changed or admin password has been forgotten –
To reset the IP address to the default IP Address “192.168.0.100” or reset the login password to default value, press the hardware reset button on the frontpanel for about 10 seconds. After the device is rebooted, you can login themanagementWebinterfacewithinthesamesubnetof192.168.0.xx.
