Quick Steps for Social Media Success

✓ Pick 2-3 social media platforms that are a match for you and your audience. You don’t have to be everywhere… only where your students/clients are.

✓ Keep your brand complete & consistent across all social media sites. It should match your website as well.

✓ Post valuable content, not “fluff” – be inspired by what you post and make sure it matches you/your branding and what you represent.

✓ Balance being real with being professional – show authenticity and realism in what you are sharing, saying, and who you/your brand is.

✓ Use variety in your posts - this goes for images, content, topics, etc.

✓ Use hashtags (#) wisely for brand and topic followings, don’t overwhelm readers with strings of hashtags or use unnecessary hashtags.

✓ Be visual - share more than words when you can - videos, images, etc.

#1 TIP FOR SOCIAL MEDIA

Have FUN & don’t let social media become a second job or more stress to yourself or your business. It’s ok to take breaks. Listen to your heart and let it take lead in your online community just as it does in your real life teachings!

WHERE ARE YOUR STUDENTS/CLIENTS?? Don’t know? Ask them!

The Power of AnalyticsIt’s like the digital form of active listening!

WHY?

Because getting to know your community is important and analytics is a big part of this. When we meet someone in person we gather information about them with our senses beyond what is just communicated with spoken word. The online equivalent of this is analytics. Yes, the conversation had between you and your community online is important, but so are all the other cues that we don’t pick-up on in the comments. While this step may seem overwhelming, it can add a whole lot of value to your efforts. Even just a quick glance once or twice a month can help you understand what your community is liking the most and give you a sense of their demographics. It empowers you with knowledge of what is resonating and expanding your teachings and reach, which translates to a better understanding of where you should your spend social media time.

HOW?

Most of the popular social media platforms have built-in analytics that users (especially businesses) can review. Keep it simple, just use the tools on the sites you engage on. They are already doing all the tracking and you don’t have to set anything up.

Sites with built-in analytics for business pages/accounts:

● Facebook

● Twitter

● YouTube

● Google Analytics - we know this isn’t social media but it really is a must for your website & can be used for Tumblr

● Pinterest

● LinkedIn

TIP: Even with sites/apps that don’t have more in-depth analytics (SnapChat or Instagram) be sure to pay attention to which posts people like, repost, and comment on. Just take a mental note of it and/or maybe keep a journal or document of which content people were into.
