Georgia Performance Standards• M6G1b – Investigate rotational symmetry, including degree of rotation• M7G2a – Demonstrate understanding of translations, dilations, rotations, reflections, and

relate symmetry to appropriate transformations.• M7G3c – Understand congruence of geometric figures as a special case of similarity: the

figures have the same size and shape• M8G1d – Understand the meaning of congruence: that all corresponding angles are

congruent and all corresponding sides are congruent

Directions: - Print slides 3 & 4 (Monkey Wrench Quilt square); 10 & 11 (Grandmother’s Quilt square);

17 & 18 (Pine Tree Quilt square) to use as quilt square templates.- Print slides 6 & 7 then cut out shapes to use to complete Monkey Wrench Quilt square;- Print slides 13 & 14 then cut out shapes to use to complete Grandmother’s Quilt square;-Print slides 20 & 21 then cut out shapes to use to complete Pine Tree Quilt square.

Tip: Print materials on white cardstock in color then laminate and velcro so students can practice using the various types of transformations.
