more involved, and without them I wouldn't be

where I am today. It's not just a simple club. It's my

family, it's my home, and it's my "way of life”. With

everything that Key Club has done for me, I hope to

give that to my fellow Key Clubbers especially the

ones in this Division. My primary focus is to

strengthen the unity of this Division and with the

foundation that Christina has laid, I hope to hit the

ground running and continue the tradition of great

Lieutenant Governors.

‘Ello Key Clubbers! My name is Erik Lim, Vice Presi-

dent of Tenafly

Key Club and

Lieutenant gover-

nor elect of divi-

sion 16 of the

2013-2014 service

year. I've been in

Key Club for the past three years and I've been going to

almost every Key Club event for as long as I can remem-

ber. I'm honestly glad that my peers pushed me to be

Page 2

What do you do with 100 t-shirts and a dozen Key

Club officers?

You make fifty teddy bears to be donated to the

Ozanam Family Shelter, of course!

In February, we held a three-day event called T-shirts

to Toys. After holding T-shirt drives in Emerson,

Hasbrouck Heights, Tenafly, Secaucus, and North Ber-

gen, the officers got to work: we cut, filled, and sewed

fifty different teddy bears!

This event took 25 hours total! Officers came from

Tenafly, Seacaucus, and North Bergen to all help

with this event.

The Ozanam Family Shelter in Edison, New Jersey,

provides emergency shelter for 16 single women and

26 families.

New Jersey: 12,000 Key Clubbers, 23 lieutenant governors. Who are these 23 lieutenant governors?

Every newsletter, I will feature three lieutenant governors and ask them one question.

This newsletter’s question: What is your favorite part about Key Club?

Meet the Neighbors

Nikita Daga

Division 3B LTG

I have learned that being a part

of this organization means be-

ing a part of something bigger

than all of us. Key Club gives

every one of us the power to

change the world. As teenagers,

we’re still learning and strug-

gling with the little things in

life, but Key Club gives us the

opportunity to make the world

WE want it to be. The fact that

we’re only teenagers and we can

do this is why I love Key Club.

Alyssa Fazio

Division 3A LTG

My favorite part about being a

lieutenant governor in Key

Club was meeting the most

amazing people that made up

the New Jersey District Board.

I loved every minute that I

spent working with them.

They all made my Key Club

experience the very best that

it could have been, and I

couldn’t have asked for a

better board.

Kelly Tran

Division 1B LTG

My favorite part about Key

Club is missing school to eat

Kentucky Fried Chicken on

the way to Kiwanis Family

Conference; throwing surprise

parties at board meetings; mak-

ing weird faces at my best

friend across a huge room full

of Key Clubbers. My favorite

thing about Key Club will dif-

fer from your favorite thing

about Key Club because with

Key Club, you never know

what to expect and that’s the

beauty of it—you get a little bit

of everything.

Chris Addonizio

Division 1A LTG

To me, my favorite part about

Key Club is that it is so

inspirational. The amount of

passion, work, and time that a

bunch of high school kids put

into this community service

organization is simply astonish-

ing. Yet even above that, I love

that Key Clubbers truly live up

to their motto: “Caring... our

way of life.” They have the

power to change what’s

around them, and they often

do.

This year’s International Convention is being

held in Washington, DC (the same hotel where

Reagan was shot)! This year, we have six people ten-

tatively attending from division 16!

International Convention is “District Conven-

tion on steroids.” Meet Key Clubbers from all over

the world, see and experience service events from

everywhere, and share something you love with

1,300 other high school students: Key Club!

International Convention is being held from July

3rd to 7th, and traditionally, the New Jersey District

will hold a district tour a few days earlier (July 1-3).

This year’s Keynote Speaker is Elizabeth Smart,

an American activist and contributor for ABC News.

She gained widespread attention at age 14 when she

was kidnapped from her home and recovered nine

months later.
