In recent years the knowledge about liver regenerationand hepatic stem cell biology has expanded extensively.In addition to differentiated hepatocytes and bone mar-row cells also resident hepatic stem cell populations wereidentified to be involved in liver regeneration.

Molecular and clinical hepatology is a major re-search focus at the Medical Faculty of the Heinrich-Heine-University of Düsseldorf with the CollaborativeResearch Center "Experimental Hepatology" SFB 575being a central institution. The Collaborative ResearchCenter organizes international conferences focusing onselected cell biological topics. The 4th International Con-ference "Regenerative Hepatology" of the SFB 575 will bearranged together with the North Rhine-WestphalianAcademy of the Sciences, Humanities and Arts.

The scientific program of the 4th Conference focuseson basic aspects of Regenerative Hepatology. Scientists of international reputation will make the conference to an exceptional event by their talks, and exciting inter-disciplinary discussions can be expected.
