Also present: Chief Administrative Officer C Mullin, Acting Public Works Foreman K McLeod, Gallery Richard Melvin. The regular meeting agenda was adopted as presented with the following addition - Mather and Willow Creek Colony. Meeting minutes for March 13, 2019 were adopted. General Business Financial Statement – Reso- lution No: LUD 19-Jul-09: That the LUD of Mather financial statement for the period ended June 30, 2019 be accepted and submitted to Council as circu- lated and approved. Public Works - Rock was placed in the pot- hole at corner of Railway and Second. MB Infrastructure will not be involved in repairing this site due to their department’s budget cuts. - Traffic sign replacements is on the summer staff schedule. - Sewer system maintenance for 2019 includes, but is not limited to: behind the hal; line cleaning south of Veteran (be- tween R Vincent and A Harms) - Howard Street upgrade is on the Cartwright-Roblin Mu- nicipality work plan for fall. - Effective July 1 waste trans- Trembath Bay Half a dozen houses in the village of Cartwright will have new street addresses, follow- ing the proclamation of “Trem- bath Bay”. These houses on the north side of town, were built on the hill, along a back lane. Since the advent of provincial emergency services, describing these addresses, so they could be found in an emergency, has been a problem. The naming of the U-shaped loop from Laugh- lin Street and back will solve this issue. This is the first “Bay” in Cart- wright’s streets, and it is named after a venerable old local fam- ily. Merlin Trembath, who was the waterworks foreman for the village years ago, lived along this stretch, in the house now owned by Raymond and Gaye Cavers. Some of the homes that will have new street addresses now that the back lane has been transformed into “Trembath Bay”. Back in the early 1900s, the hill was chosen for the location of these houses, as the north end of their property sloped down, and there was a barnyard right across Bond Street at the bottom of the yards. Before the houses, in the 1890s, a cheese factory topped the hill. New signs are up to mark Trembath Bay, which heads north from Laughlin Street, up the back lane behind Badger Creek Lodge, around the top of the hill, and back to Laughin. LUD of Mather council meeting The following is the RCMP report from July 16, 2019 until July 29, 2019. This reporting period, police responded to the following calls for service. - 9 traffic violations - 11 provincial statute (Men- tal Health Act, Fire Prevention Act, Coroner’s Act, 911 Act) - 15 common police activities (alarms, suspicious persons/ vehicles, assistance to general public) - 2 crimes against property - 8 other criminal code - 1 reported impaired drivers - 3 traffic accident July 16 – Police received a report of a smashed rear win- dow of a vehicle while parked at a business. The vehicle was parked for two years and was be towed to the owner’s home. A male was observed on a va- cant lot on a residential street. The male was recognised and arrested shortly thereafter for outstanding warrants out of Brandon. A report of a possible at- tempted break and enter oc- curred in Ninette. No entry was gained and staff vigiliant in re- porting same. Additional patrols are re- quested between the back lane of Finlay and Clark Avenue in Killarney due to suspicious looking people frequently walk- ing in the area. A report of racing vehicles was received on road 443 be- tween Ninga and Boissevain. One vehicle was described as a grey Sante Fe and a dark co- loured car. Police attended, no vehicles matching the descrip- tion and unable to puruse the investigation without licence plate information. July 17 – A report of fraud was received.A phone call that was a recording saying that their credit card had been charged $300 and $1000 and to press one to continue. No money was lost and police like to remind the public of crafty scams that are being created via phone, email, and Facebook. Do not give any personal information The lilies have been lovely all over town over the last two weeks. Reflection Park in Cartwright is all gussied up and, like the rest of the town, ready for a lot of visitors over the Ponderosa long week- end. See page 8 for the full weekend schedule of events.
