The Opening Ceremony

The opening ceremony featured the participation of: V. Yakovlev, President of the Russian Union of Builders – the General Partner of MosBuild; Guy Trouveroy, Belgian Ambassador to Russia; Oleg Ryndin, First Deputy Head of the Moscow Department of Urban Planning Policy, who welcomed the exhibitors and visitors on behalf of the department, and read a welcome from M. Khusnullin, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Urban Planning Policy and Construction.

The MosBuild exhibitors and visitors were also welcomed by: I. Novitsky, Deputy Chairman of the Moscow City Duma Committee for Economic Policy and Entrepreneurship; Andrery Bokov, President of the Russian Union of Architects; Alexander Ishin, Deputy President of the National Association of Builders; Alexander Loshchenko, President of the National Association of Construction Industry Participants; Igor Korotin, Director of the Exhibitions Eepartment of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry; and Alexander Shtalenkov, General Dirtector of ITE Russia.

The guests of honour noted that construction is a driver of economic growth, and that MosBuild is a leading exhibition at which to judge the state of the industry. The ceremony ended with the cutting of the red ribbon, symbolising the opening of the exhibition.

The opening ceremony of the 19th MosBuild exhibition took place on 2 April 2013 at Moscow’s leading exhibition venue, Expocentre.

The MosBuild business programme comprises a series of forums, conferences, master classes and seminars on various areas of the building and interiors industry.

This year, the programme brought together over 200 speakers and was attended by more than 2000 professionals from different areas of the building and interiors industry.

MosBuild Architecture &Design Awards (MADA)

The 2nd MosBuild Architecture & Design Awards (MADA), an international competition for young architects and architec-tural students, were staged within the MosBuild 2013 business programme.

The competition received 143 entries from 35 countries.

MosBuild Magazine & CERSANEX Magazine

In 2012, CERSANEX Magazine, an addition to MosBuild’s digital publications, was launched. The magazine is devoted to ceramics, bathrooms and stone.

MosBuild Magazine, which is already well known to exhibitors and visitors, is published quarterly, while CERSANEX Magazine comes out twice a year.

Both magazines have already managed to gain recognition from architects, designers and other professionals in the building and interiors industry. They have become not only a source of interesting information, but also additional marketing tool for exhibitors.

ArchiClub, a club for architects and designers

In 2012, the organisers of MosBuild announced the launch of a professional club: ArchiClub, a club for architects and designers. The club provides an information platform for architects and designers on the one hand, and producers and distributors on the other. The project allows architects and designers to publish their projects on the exhibition’s media resources, gives them access to direct year-round communication with exhibitors, and offers them the opportunity to expand their business contacts through collaboration with leading architectural studios and design offices in Russia and Europe. Since the launch of Archiclub, numerous architectural and design projects, and designer collections have been published and can be seen on the MosBuild website.

Special Projects

MosBuild Diamond Club continued its successful work this year. The club provides a unique platform for meetings between buyers and suppliers of building and finishing materials. Among the members of the private club are major DIY chains, developers and architectural firms, including Leroy Merlin, Trest SKM, Starik Khottabych, DESIGNUS, Dmitry Pshenichnikov and Partners, za bor, ub.design and many others.

Business activity at the exhibitionMosBuild 2013 will be remembered for the number of major contracts, one of which was concluded between two exhibitors: the Russian thermal panel manufacturer Teplant and the Italian industrial equipment supplier Puma. The CEO of Teplant, Yury Vertoprakhov, confirmed the deal, the value of which exceeds 3 million Euros.

The national group stands also saw impressive results at MosBuild. Even before the end of the exhibition, the national news agency of Malaysia reported that Malaysian exporters had achieved sales of RM76.57 million (about 17.8 million euros) at MosBuild 2013.

There are huge opportunities in the Russian market for the tap industry. We have met a lot of people from different regions of Russia at the show, which means that by being here, we are promoting the brand not only in Moscow but all around Russia. MosBuild Cersanex is one of the few shows around the world that is active and where there is a need for business. Most of the other shows around the world are not focused on the business but on demonstrations and public relations, this show is more focused on real business. It is our second time at MosBuild Cersanex, we are happy with the visitors and the show and we will definitely be returning next year and at least for the next 3 years.

So far things have been going well, it’s a new deal in the market for us with this distributer so it was therefore important for us to exhibit together at Mosbuild Cersanex. We have a sole distribution agreement with our distributer therefore the main purpose of exhibiting is to gain more visibility as a company. The Russian market is definitely important; I predict the Russian market is going to represent a large share of our turnover at Giulini. We are leaving the domestic market and moving the turnover to other markets. We made a choice five years ago to start manufacturing products specifically for the Russian market, Russians are the big spenders at the moment.MosBuild is the fair to be at for our industry- taps/bathrooms. I have clients coming from Ukraine, Azerbaijan; they are a niche crowd so it is important to exhibit here if you want to hold value and clients after the exhibition.

It is the first time Granital is exhibiting at MosBuild Cersanex. I heard about the show from AEP in Portugal- an association for production companies. I am very happy I came to Cersanex. Our main reasons for coming were to gain new customers and maybe even get a representative here in Russia (.)The Russian market is a very important market and has been for the last 10 years. The Russian market is especially important for my company and represents a good market for us. There is great demand for external surrounds around buildings. Many of the current buildings only have concrete around the outside but we are specialised in natural stone surrounds and I think in Moscow and the other cities of Russia people are moving towards a better life quality through the inclusion of green spaces and stones outside their homes. The principal difference between the European market and this market is that the Russian market has money and is continuing to grow. In Europe now the market is stale mate.I go to many exhibitions, MosBuild Cersanex is very organised compared to others I have been to. I have had many visitors and I ran out of business cards on the first day. I have a small stand but this hasn’t hampered me. I will definitely be returning to MosBuild Cersanex

Last year we had 5sqm with the Croatian Chamber of Commerce. This year they invited us again however we had already decided before this that we would go but this time take 30sqm. Making the step away from the national group means that now we are with all the big players and now we are a major player alongside the other major players in this market. We are already seeing the results of this approach here at Cersanex. All of the people we have done business with and potential new clients and Italians have come here and said they were surprised that a small company from a small country would be here with such a large stand. It was expensive but it was definitely worth it. The results are showing already and we have made good contacts. I think that this is a country of big opportunities for us. The Russian market is important, it’s huge, there are millions and millions of people and the whole of Russia is undergoing big construction. We have a good product for this market. MosBuild Cersanex is very well organised from start to finish. Congratulations or compliments to ITE, they are very helpful and strive to resolve all of your problems..

The Italian market is collapsing and in other European countries the market is quite stagnant but in Russia there is big increase year on year. I have been in MosBuild for over 14 years and have participated every year, we used to participate in a number of shows but now we focus on MosBuild Cersanex and the US. MosBuild Cersanex is the most important exhibition for us due to competitor participation and the number of visitors.

The Russian market is definitely a very important market for Belgian companies especially in the build sector. We have been exhibiting at MosBuild for 5 years now. We have our loyal clients which exhibit at every show, who are very interested in the Russian market and have a great understanding that they need to be at MosBuild to create a market presence. There is a great interest in the show we actually have companies on the waiting list trying to get in and be a part of this show. The Russian market is important for Serbian companies because first of all Serbia has a free trade agreement with Russia which has been around for 13 years. In the last few years we have really tried to make the most of this by making sure we bring Serbian companies to shows such as MosBuild. The only other countries in the world that have this agreement with Russia are the former USSR countries so it is a great advantage to Serbian companies that we have this agreement also. Serbia produces high quality products and we have some very talented engineers and architects but we can produce products for a more competitive price than European companies this therefore is another advantage for us when talking about the Russian market. We exhibit in a number of other shows around the world however MosBuild is by far the biggest and is one of the top 5 shows in

the world.

This is the biggest and I think the most important show in the building and construction sector and Moscow is a great location so clients can come from all over. The Russian market is important for Finnish companies as it is close to Finland and they already know this market quite well. MosBuild is a good launch pad to enter the Russian market as it is the main building & interiors show in Russia with a central location.

MosBuild’s Decotex is a great show for our business; it’s really focused on the textiles market and also hardware such as curtain tracks, motorised tracks and roller blinds, so we find that it is a very useful show for us to attend.We have returned to MosBuild this year after a number of years away from the show, the reason being that we see the Russian Market as a very important one; it’s a rich market and is one of the very few countries where you can grow. There is more money in Russia. People want to invest in good quality and expensive products, which is no longer happening in Western Europe because well, there is no money. Our product is something that arrives at the end of a project, you build a house, put in the fittings and curtains are the last thing you think of, at this point there is often no money left to invest in such things but in Russia it’s a different story. Our main objective for coming to MosBuild is to gain new customers, however we also use it as a platform to improve our brand recognition in the region. We have two divisions one for curtain tracks and solar protection and also have a sister company that manufactures locks.

We are very happy. The atmosphere in the pavilion is very pleasant; there are glass ceilings with a lot of light coming in. We have also found the visitors to be very focused on our industry and what we are selling.Our main purpose for exhibiting at MosBuild Cersanex is brand awareness and the strengthening of our brands in the Russian market. The European market is currently not in great shape. In Russia they appreciate what we are selling and place a lot of value on products. ‘Made in Italy’ is recognised as being synonymous with innovation, technology, design and this market recognises the pluses that products ‘Made in Italy’ have.

My overall impression of MosBuild 2013 is that it’s even better than last year. The build up that organisers ITE did before the show has been great, particularly their online activity which has started to make a real difference to people’s awareness before the event, which creates greater numbers at the show. The numbers this year have been fantastic, we have talked to a lot of key architects and designers they are very interested in what we are presenting. We are demonstrating here our full range of products. Our sculptural wall finishes especially have been creating a lot of interest. The Russian market is one of our most important markets and that’s why I make the effort every year to come to MosBuild and we make a big presence here. We have exhibited at MosBuild for a number of years - we still feel it is extremely relevant for us to be here. Internationally we have gone through a lot of turmoil in recent years, but we are now starting to see an upward trend. You can get a snapshot of the industry from coming to see these trade shows, you can sense the market coming back to life, people are talking about live products. It’s not just a case of people saying yes we would like to use you at some point in the future it’s yes we have got projects that we can work on that we can specify you for. This particular section of MosBuild has moved into a much bigger area and again this demonstrates how much life there is in the market and the potential that we have here. MosBuild is definitely one of our top 5 shows; it is certainly on the world stage as an event that holds its own against the other trade shows. How the exhibition is presented and promoted is fantastic certainly one of the best I’ve seen for online promotion. ITE is leading the way in terms of getting those messages across.

This was our first year exhibiting at MosBuild. Two years ago we launched a new brand called Luxsteel we tried to promote this by ourselves but struggled and felt the best way would be to use MosBuild as a platform to promote our brand. From the amount of visitors and new customers we had to our stand at MosBuild we anticipate increasing our output in Russia to 10,000 tonnes next year. The Russian market is important for coloured and printed steel it is bigger than most other markets and Russian people have rural houses made of wood, there is a large demand to change these houses from wood to steel. MosBuild is very big no other exhibitions that I have been to in this sector can compare to MosBuild’s scale. We have found the exhibition extremely lucrative for finding new customers.

We have been participating at MosBuild for almost 15 years and our company has been satisfied almost every year. In the first two days of the show we had our most amount of visitors, mainly coming from the regions and Moscow. We have met a lot of architects, designers and private customers. We are very satisfied with the visitor quality and quantity. The Russian market is important. We are an Italian company but we have two brands: Atlas Concorde and Atlas Concorde Russia. The taste of the Russian customers is different from the Europeans, therefore collections from Atlas Concorde Russia correspond to the needs of the local customers and the Russian market. There are two main exhibitions for us, the first is Cersaie in Italy, where we present our Italian collections and the second one is MosBuild Cersanex where we present Atlas Concorde Russia collections. MosBuild is a historical exhibition, people from the regions in Russia are used to coming here to meet companies they are working with so for us it is important to be here to promote our brand.

MosBuild gives us the opportunity to make people aware of our company and our products and also to target new markets and new customers. MosBuild is not just about Russia it is also about Eastern European/ the old CIS Countries. On our stand today we have had visitors from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Uzbekistan, Ukraine and these offer us a good business opportunity. One thing we have discovered is that British-ness travels very well in Russia and Eastern Europe we are flying the flag and trying to promote that whenever we can.MosBuild has become the focal point for Russia and Eastern Europe and literally everything evolves around MosBuild. You have people travelling from all over the region into Moscow to visit MosBuild so it has become a very important exhibition. Most importantly every single manufacturer uses MosBuild as a platform to launch new products. This is significant because you know you have MosBuild and need to have a new product ready in time for this show, it gives you a focus. We at Graham & Brown definitely use it as a focus to launch any new products.

The Russian market has been an important market for our company for the last 15 years. We only sell in two markets-the US and Russia. The US market has been down for the last 4 years, during which time we lost about 60% of our customers. The Russian market is much more stable. MosBuild provides a platform to meet with existing customers as well as finding new ones and it also helps us to communicate to our customers that we still exist and are still active. MosBuild is a global show- and it has become a tradition of ours to exhibit here. We have participated in every Mosbuild show with ITE since it began. Being at MosBuild is important it sends a clear message to your customers that you exist and you are relevant in your sector.

We decided to come to MosBuild as we were looking at Russia as a market and had heard that MosBuild was a good show and had a good reputation so decided that this would be a good show to dip our toes in the water. It has proved to be quite useful for us. We currently sell in the Middle East, Far East, UK and some European countries. We have been selling in the Russian market for a few years now but it is now important for us to build a brand. Hamilton’s are not known in this part of the world. You go to the Middle East or the Far East and people know us. Here people don’t really know Hamilton’s so exhibiting at MosBuild is the beginning of a brand building exercise for Hamilton’s. We will back this up by opening a marketing office in Russia. MosBuild is the first show for us in this region and we are very pleased with the organisation of the event compared to other shows we have exhibited at.

We have a long history at MosBuild. Russia is an emerging market and for us this brings the potential of massive growth. Russia is very new and fresh, there are a lot of companies and lots of activity so there is plenty of opportunity. We work a lot with ITE and their exhibitions around this region; we try to be very active. Their exhibitions are very important to us for gaining new business. Not coming to MosBuild is not an option, you need to be here. If you do not come one year, customers notice. Exhibiting here reinforces our brand presence.

It was our first time participating at MosBuild. We have had many visitors not only from Russia and the Russian federation countries but also from other countries in Europe etc. We are relatively new to the Russian market but see a huge potential here for our product (security doors). Russia has a large population. If 15% of the population have the ability to pay a bit extra just to buy top quality material, it seems that there is a very good market for us. We will definitely exhibit again next year and are very glad to be here.

We look for quality over quantity of visitors and invite all of our potential clients to come here. This is a central meeting point for us with not only existing but also potential clients. We are satisfied with the few good quality clients who come here to meet us. This is the exhibition to be at for us in Russia. Russia (incl. Belarus and Ukraine) is a big market, they need our product. We supply turn-key plants for the production of insulating fire resistant building materials. Russia has the good wood for it, the cement for it- the raw materials. There is a lot of catching up to do in Russia concerning energy saving and CO2 reduction and our system/production lines are perfect for that. We focus towards passive, low rise housing. At the moment in Russia there is a big push towards low rise housing construction. Hundreds of thousands of houses need to be built in rural areas. Our system is not so much for high rise office buildings but for this rural housing and there is a huge demand for that. 10 years ago there was not much interest in energy savings. The Russians had so much gas and oil which seemed as though it will last forever but now the government is putting a lot of pressure on to change the mindset towards energy saving materials, meaning that we expect to sell several turn-key Wood-Cement Board plants this year. Everybody knows MosBuild and everybody comes here. For us this is the most important exhibition in the Russian market.
