TrainingandPresentationnViewClonemode(seeEnablingnViewCloneModeonpage 60),wheretwodisplaysshowidenticalimages,isusefulforpresentations.Apresentermayusethesmallerdisplayonthepodium,whileaprojectordisplayreflectsthepresentationtotheaudience.Intrainingapplications,theinstructorcanseewhatthestudentisdoingundernViewClonemode.Theabilitytoseethepresentationwhileitsbeingprojectedcanbeespeciallyusefulwhenusingmobilecomputers.

VirtualDesktop(seeEnablingVirtualDesktopCloneModeonpage 62),asubfeatureofnViewCloneMode,isusefulforflatpanelsandanalogdisplayswithlimitedresolutionandisusedtosetalargerthanviewableareaontheseconddisplay,whichsupportsfullpanandscanoftheentiredesktoparea.

Digitalcontentcreation(DCC)applicationscanuseonedisplayfortoolbarsandpalettesandtheotherforrenderedoutput.Additionally,manyrealtimeorgamedevelopmentenvironmentsallowtheauthoringtoolsorgameenginecodetobevisibleononedisplay,whileshowingtheartorgameengineinafullscreen,gameplaylikemodeontheseconddisplay.

GraphicsArtistscanhavecommonapplicationssuchasAdobePhotoshopor3DStudioMaxopenwiththepalettesandmenusononedisplayandtheotherdisplaydedicatedtoworkspace.Writerscanuseonedisplayforresearchandtheotherforwriting.

Financialapplications,suchasstocktradingapplications,canuseapairoflargedigitalflatpanels.Thiswouldallowyoutowatchrealtimestockdataononescreenandusetheotherscreenfortradingactivity.
