RABINDRA BHARATI UNIVERSITY Employment Oriented Guidance Programme INTRODUCTION In pursuance of the ideals of Rabindra Nath Tagore (Education has to be life-Sustaining) Rabindra Bharati University introduced in June, 1998, a self-financing guidance programme, the first of its among the universities of West Bengal, for helping students achieve success in various Competitive Examinations leading to employment and also in their personality developments. COURSES: Under this programme, guidance is being given for the following examinations: 1. West Bengal Civil Services (WBCS) with Combined Examination 2. U.G.C NET and W.B.C.S.C SET in Humanities and Commerce All Courses mentioned above are organized by Rabindra Bharati University under of Employment Oriented Guidance programme. Employment Oriented Guidance Programme also conducts pre-examination Courses for Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribes, Religious Minorities and other Backward Communities with the financial assistance of Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. Employment Bureau of Rabindra Bharati University (Government of West Bengal) organizes some Mock Tests for our WBCS & NET/SET candidates. The results have been very encouraging. FACULTY MEMBERS A team of highly qualified and well-experienced teachers, including ex-W.B.C.S(Executive) are associated with us. We have, at present, 32 teachers. All of them have taught at College or University level. LIBRARY We have a good Library cum Reading Room with more than 3000 books on relevant subjects for the competitive examinations. The library is managed by a full-time librarian. The Reading Room has also made available different kinds of journals and periodicals of current interest for the students. On line study materials are also supplied to the students. SUCCESS RATE: 1. Going by the record, of the enrolled students qualify about 20%-25% qualify in NET/SET, and about 35% in S.S.C. Examination. 2. The success in the WBCS Examination is noteworthy. Right from its inception in the year 1998, every year 4 to 5 candidates, out of 30 candidates enrolled each year, qualify in Group A, with some of them becoming topper. Beside, 6-8 students qualify in Group C’ and D.A good number of students also qualify in different other examinations like Clerkship etc. every year.
