The first week copy was challenging for me since it was my first time writing copy. However by looking at previous samples and other resources, it enabled me to complete the task at hand.

The hallways were filled with anticipation and excitement as new and familiar faces roamed Plant High. Freshmen were overwhelmed by the masses of people while the se-niors finally celebrated leading the student body. For their first day back, the seniors were exhilarated and confident as they dressed up according to their theme, ‘15landers’. Many swarmed the halls as castaways, exotic animals, beach locals, and look-a-likes from the Jersey Shore cast. While some students were just beginning to pave their way, others were looking forward to finishing off strong and moving toward a new chapter. Miller Jordan (12) said, “Four years of school was enough for me.” Many underclassmen had a different perspective on what the new year would bring. Laurel Thaxton (9) said, I was overwhelmed by the work load and all the students, but I felt accepted because people would help me.” Dhanashree Rawalgieonkav (11) said, “I was extremely worried and scared when I walked into school for the first time, especial-ly of the seniors. It is completely different from India so it was difficult getting around.” The first day back was an opportunity for the student body to reconnect with their friends and begin new friendships. Nikki Smalley (10), on the right, said “during the first week I rekindled old friendships while also making new ones.” The student body began the new school year with multiple perspectives. As with years that have come and gone, students will outline their individual paths alongside their classmates.

This picture was taken to showcase the variety of styles at Plant. It was enjoyable to complete this task because it allowed me to work on my photography skills by asking each student to pose in relation to their style.

Homecoming was celebrated at the A La Carte Pavilion underneath the themed circus big top. The venue was suited up with vibrant orange, red, and yellow decorations embellished with grand center pieces. With much anticipation for the festivity, many looked forward to the events leading up to the dance, especially ones who were experiencing it for the first time. Those in attendance were eager to go dress and suit shopping, attend make-up and hair appointments, pic-tures, dinner and get asked by their fellow classmates. “I was not expecting how over the top the circus theme would be. I enjoyed the atmosphere of the night!” Jasmine Olexa (9) said.Above all else, the night was notably memorable for the duo Kyle Henderson (12) and Lexi Watson (12), who were crowned Homecoming King and Homecoming Queen. The student body was in awe when the final two candidates won as a couple. “I was excit-ed and shocked.”said Henderson. Watson and Henderson have dated for about a year and wasn’t expecting the win. “Kyle and I didn’t really campaign but Kyle had said the football team voted for us. When they called my name I wasn’t expecting it at all.” Watson said. The couple mentioned that if one of them won, the other was going to be mad if they didn’t win with them. The night was an unforgettable experience for the Homecoming court, students and administration. From the various events that took place proceeding the celebration, the majority would concur it was a successful dance.

The Homecoming copy was less challenging for me since I al-ready had an idea of what was expected. It was interesting to in-terview the homecoming queen and king and to hear different perspectives from each grade.

While completing this task, it allowed me to photograph an as-sortment of activites at the Pep Rally. I enjoyed capturing differnt facial expressions such as victory and defeat shown in the picture.

While taking a breather from the hustle and bustle of New York City, Sarah Rossi (11) enjoys the scenic view while ice skating with her family. Rossi visited Times Square, the Statue of Liberty, Chinatown and Central Park. “My sister and I had never been to New York before and we really wanted to go! My favorite part of the trip was watching the ‘Lion King’ on Broadway,” Rossi said.

While writing my first caption, it was challenging to get used to the format. However by asking in depth questions while interviewing it allowed me to gain insight and write a more detailed description.

It was diffcult to gain proper lighting while taking pictures outside. However it was fun to capture the president of the senior class, Chip Stern’s, facial expressions.

While capturing pictures of the Cheerleading team, it was challenging to know when stunts were going to be performed. Having my camera ready to take a photo at any given time, I was able to take an assort-ment of poses.

While completing this task, it was motivating to capture differ-ent moments during the first week of school. It was my first time capturing candid photos, without creating a posed appearance.

While taking pictures during spirit week, it was exciting to cap-ture a new theme each day. This picture in particular is not a typical posed photo but instead exhibits personality.

This was my first time capturing action shots. By snapping mul-tiple photos consecutively, I was able to capture various mov-ements.
