- 1. Reputation: Rumors & Gossip
2. Why are we exploring this topic?
Gossip is all around school these days. Many people gossip and many
people are gossiped about. People believe rumors even though most
of the time they are not true. Rumors can ruin a persons
life.
3. Do you take part in gossip?
4. How much of your conversation time is spent gossiping?
5. Do you feel youre more likely to gossip with the same or
opposite sex?
6. Where does your gossiping take place?
7. Who are you most likely to gossip about?
8. Do you think gossip effects people?
9. After gossiping do you ever feel guilty?
10. How is this related to Twisted?
In Twisted Tyler is charged with vandalism because he spray paints
obscenities on school property. After this happens, the whole
school knows about it, and is continuously gossiping about what he
did. This isnt a rumor, it's just gossip.
But theres another part in the book where nude pictures are taken
& sent around. The pictures were of Bethany whom Tyler was very
fond of. There were rumors, and false accusations that Tyler took
the pictures. Not only was that a lie, people had also said that
Tyler had raped Bethany, that was an even worse rumor.
11. Conclusion
Even though you may not notice it, you're almost gossiping all the
time, in every conversation. It may not always be bad, but
something's could really ruin a person, like the rape accusations
for Tyler. If you dont know that something is true then dont say
it.
With the survey we gave out, we learned a lot of people gossip,
about different people and in different places. Which can lead to
bigger problems. It shouldnt be happening as much as it does with
so many different people.
