RPLA comes withmountingbracketsthataretobeinstalledtothewallordrywallceiling.RPMpanelsare installedsimilar to lay-in tiles.RPMSpanelsareinstalledbyconnectingthepaneltoangleiron(suppliedbyothers)withthesecurityscrewsandbushings.
RPLandRPLApanelsareconstructedofextrudedaluminumandhaveafemaleandmaleedge.Thefemaleedgeisrequiredtobeinstalledagainst/towardtheexteriorwall.Pleasenotethatallpanelsaremadewitharedlabelindicatingfemaleedge.
When handling the radiant panels, it isrecommendedthatcleanwhiteglovesbeusedtoavoidsmudgingandmarkingtheunit. Hanging or suspended panels areinstalledusing threaded rod, carabineer,hangerwire,wirerope,chainlinkorgripple(by others) as per local building codes.Allradiantpanelsmusthaveatleastonehangerwireoneachcrossbrace.
Anypanelinstalledagainstexteriorwallsshouldhavethefirsttubesuppliednearestthe wall. Connection to the water coil can bemadewithsoftcopper,male/femaleNPTconnection,orwithpush-onconnectors.Use a heat pad between Radiant Panelandcopperpipewhenmakingsolderingconnections.Excessiveheatcandamagethepaintfinish.
When panels require site cutting, use acircularsawwithcarbidetippedblade.Cutwiththefinishsurfacefacingthesawandensureyouprotectthefinishsurfacebeforecuttingbegins.

Radiant Panel Height Above Finished Floor/Average Water Temperature. For radiantpanels toperformefficiently,Pricerecommendsthattheaveragewatertemperature used with its panels bebetween110°F[43°C]and190°F[88°C]forceilingheightsupto10ft(3m).
Thistablegivesthede-rationpercentageforceilingheightsexceeding13ft(3900mm).
Aswestartmovingawayfromtheoccupiedzone,theradiativeenergyisabsorbedandequalizedwiththecoolsurfaceshigherupintheceilingarea,reducingtheamountofradiativeenergyremainingbythetimeitreachestheoccupiedzone.Theincreaseinceilingheightalsoreducestheviewfactoroftheradiantpaneltothepeopleintheroom.Thus,ade-rationfactormustbeaccountedforwhenmountingpanelsathighceilingheights.
PanelhandingisrequiredwhenorderingRPL, RPLA, RPM (odd pass), and RPMS(oddpass).ForRPLandRPLA,orientationistakenwithrespecttolookingatthewalloranimaginarywallanddeterminingwhichendthesupplyislocatedon.
RPLandRPLAareconstructedofextrudedaluminumpanelsthathaveafemaleandmaleedge.Thefemaleedgeforacastellatedfinish is required tobe installedagainst/toward theexteriorwall inorder tohidetheseamthatiscreatedwhentheplanksare assembled together. RPL andRPLApanelscomewitharedlabelindicatortoshowwhichsideisthefemaleedge.

3.2 Installation – GeneralA. Installradiantpanellevelandplumb.Maintainsufficient
clearance for normal services, maintenance, or inaccordancewithconstructiondrawings.
B. Complete installation and startup checks according tomanufacturer’s written instructions and perform thefollowing:
1. Verifythatcontrolsandcontrolenclosureareaccessible.
2.Verifythatcontrolconnectionsarecompletetocontrolvalvesasneeded.
3.Verifythatanyidentificationtagsarevisible.
4.Verifythatcontrolsrespondtoinputsasspecified.
3.3 ConnectionsA. Piping installation requirements are specified in other
Division 23 Sections. Drawings indicated generalarrangementofpiping,fittings,andspecialties.
B. Installpipingadjacenttoradiantpanelstoallowforserviceand maintenance.
C. InadditiontoDivision23Section“HydronicPiping”,connectcoppertubingtosupplywithshut-offvalve,strainer,controlvalve,andunionorflange,andtoreturnwithbalancingvalveandunionorflange.
D. ConnectwiringaccordingtoDivision26Section“Low-VoltageElectricalPowerConductorsandCables”.
E. Tightenelectricalconnectorsandterminalsaccordingtomanufacturer’spublishedtorque-tightening.
3.4 Field Quality ControlA. Perform the following field tests and inspections and
preparetestreports:
1. LeakTest:Afterinstallation,fillwatertubesandtestforleaks.Repairleaksandretestuntilnoleaksexist.
2.OperationalTest: After electrical circuitry has beenenergized,startunitstoconformtoproperunitoperation.
3.Testandadjustcontrolsandsafeties.Replacedamagedandmalfunctioningcontrolsandequipment.
B. Manufacturer’sFieldService:Engageafactory-authorizedservicerepresentativeto inspect, test,andadjustfield-assembled components and equipment installation,includingconnections,andtoassistinfieldtesting.Reportanyfindingsinwriting.
C. Removeandreplacemalfunctioningunitsandretestasspecifiedabove.
3.5 Cleaning and ProtectionA. Cleanallvisiblesurfacesofequipment;touchupasrequired.
B. Protect all units before, during and after installation.Damagedmaterialsduetoimproperprotectionshallbecause for rejection.
3.6 Construction Phase ServicesA. Installershallvisit theradiantpanelfactory,orfactory-
authorizedrepresentative,priortothearrivaloftheproductonsite,tobecomefamiliarwiththepanels.Manufacturershallincludethecostofsuchavisitforone(1)installerinthe bid.
B. Manufacturerorfactory-authorizedrepresentativeshallvisitthesiteregularlyduringtheinstallationprocesstoensurepropermeansandmethodsarebeingemployed.Bidshallincludethecostofaminimumoftwo(2)suchvisits.
C. Manufacturerorfactory-authorizedrepresentativeshallprovide start-up and training services to owners/staffto adjust, operate, andmaintain radiant panels. Referto Division 01 Section “Demonstration andTraining”.Aminimumofeight(8)hoursofsuchservicesshallbeincluded in bid.
