Installation preparation

Overview of system components

Base Rail (10-1110-0013)

For Solar Tripod Systems the Base Rail comes in one size; 40mm rail. This is certified to be used in application with mounting Radiant

Solar Racking. The Base Rail is the primary piece to any system as all other components will assemble to it.

Base Rail Splice (10-1410-0100)

Joins two rail using 6mm Allen key. Sits underneath the Base Rail. Screw both grub screws underneath Base Rail Splice to connect and

earth the rails.

Middle Clamp (10-1310-0100, through to 10-1310-0300)

Holds down the inner panels to the rail of any array. The Middle Clamp uses a spring to when pressed against the Base Rails top channel

click into place. Middle Clamps are used between two panels.

End Clamp (10-1210-0100, through to 10-1210-1200)

Holds down the outer panels to the rail of any array. The End Clamp like the Middle Clamp uses a spring to when pressed against the Base

Rails top channel click into place.

Earthing Clip (10-1610-0100)

U Shaped Clip that sits around the base of the Middle Clamp. When solar panel is fixed to rail the Earthing Clip pierces the solar panel to the

anodized Base Rail ensuring that the system is earthed.

Earthing Clip can slide with Middle Clamp as it has designed teeth that hold comfortable in the Base Rail top channel.

Earthing Lug (10-1611-0100)

Earths the system to the ground conductor. The Earth Lug must be used at the end of each string of panels.

Rail Cap (10-1110-0100)

Not a mandatory item. The rail cap simply closes off the Base Rail and leaves a pleasant look to the appearance of the Radiant Solar System.

Radiant PV-Solar Tripod™ planning and Installation Guide V1.6

The above system components are all used in every Solar Tripod system. The feet that connect the Solar Tripod to the roof are dependent

on the roof type. The Solar Tripod requires a foot connection to the roof dependent on the roof type.

These foot types are below.

Adjustable Tile Roof Hook as base for Tripod (10-1510-0100)

Used for tile roofs. The Adjustable Tile Roof Hook allows the installer to make amendments and sit on its base the Solar Tripod in the

straightest alignment of solar panels on all tile roofs. Two screws are required for each Adjustable Tile Roof Hook into the purlin.

Two Adjustable Tile Roof Hooks are then used to sit a Solar Tripod with one screw connecting Adjustable Tile Roof Hook to base of Solar

Tripod. Note: spacing of feet is dependent on location of installation, & for screws required, please see dependent on rail: “14S-391 TC2.5

Radiant Solar Panel Solar Tripod PV Certification - Base Rail 40x40”.

Above: 45 degree Solar Tripod on Tile Roof

Corrugated Lifting Leg for Tripod (11-1110-0002)

Used for tin or corrugated roofs. The Corrugated Lifting Leg for Tripod sits comfortably over the corrugated wave of the roof and stands

upright to allow a platform for the Solar Tripod to rest. Two Corrugated Lifting Leg for Tripod are required for each Tripod. EPDM rubber

is already pre attached at the base which avoids any negative relations between roof metals to occur. One screw is required for at each end

of the Solar Tripod, through the Corrugated Lifting Leg for Tripod, and into the roof purlin.

Note: spacing of feet is dependent on location of installation, & for screws required, please see dependent on rail: “14S-391 TC2.5 Radiant

Solar Panel Solar Tripod PV Certification - Base Rail 40x40”.

Trim Dek Lifting Leg for Tripod (11-1110-0003)

Used for trim dek or span dek roofs. The Trim Dek Lifting Leg for Tripod sits comfortably over the trim dek profile of the roof and stands

upright to allow a platform for the Solar Tripod to rest. Two Trim Dek Lifting Leg for Tripod are required for each Tripod. EPDM rubber is

already pre attached at the base which avoids any negative relations between roof metals to occur. One screw is required for at each end

of the Solar Tripod, through the Trim Dek Lifting Leg for Tripod, and into the roof purlin.

Note: spacing of feet is dependent on location of installation, & for screws required, please see dependent on rail: “14S-391 TC2.5 Radiant

Solar Panel Solar Tripod PV Certification - Base Rail 40x40”.

Klip Lok Clamp 700, Klip Lok Clamp Lysaght 700, Klip Lok Clamp Lysaght 406 / Non Penetrating for attaching Tripod

(10-1514-1100, or 10-1514-1000, or 10-1514-00100)

Must be physically tested on roof for installer to be sure of correct profile. Used for non-penetrating roof systems. The pre-assembled foot

is already fitted with EPDM rubber and (on correct roof profile) will plug over klip lok lip and tighten by squeezing the roof sheet.

Solar Tripod requires two klip lok feet, one at each end of base. Installation is completed by taking the “rail clip” and “spring” off the klip

lok bolt and nut – then using the bolt and nut to connect to the Solar Tripod base.

Note: spacing of feet is dependent on location of installation, & for screws required, please see dependent on rail: “14S-391 TC2.5 Radiant

Solar Panel Solar Tripod PV Certification - Base Rail 40x40”.
