Documentary Title/topic

“The influence on action and horror films on society” – Their effect on children

Target audience Parents- The voiceover explicitly questions “would you let your children” denoting that the intended audience is parents. Also the title itself is very

sophisticated

Tone of voice? Inquisitive – asking a lot of questions? –Making the audience think, slow – suitable for audience, very professional - “we decided to investigate”

Sound effects?(SFX)

- Bullet shots: Create effect straight away and grabs attention but it might be too shocking to start with especially for a target audience of parents

- Shrieking (from horror movies): It comes out of no where and is sure to put the audience on the edge

- Screaming children: ending sound effect – it is relevant however ends with a negative note but at the same time it creates suspense

Wildtrack/ambient sound?

N/A – they opted not to which is conventional

Use of music? - Rock music running throughout after the last sound effect: this suits the theme as they talk about violence which rock can be associated with. The

music creates the intended atmosphere.

Sound levels? All consistent until the end where the last segment of music is significantly louder than anything else. I think it was too much of a sound difference.

Length? 1 minute 15 ish

Opinion I like how they included a voxpop, I think it makes are more rounded product. However, the sound effects might be too intense for a radio trails, maybe not so much is needed as the shrieking alone creates a big impression. The voiceover was suitable for the target audience, which is important. It also seems odd to state the date although can be justified through the audience.
