    DEEP INSPIRATION BECAUSE

    Greater chest expansion-greater lungvolume can be seen and small lesion are

    easier to detect. Heart is closer to its normal size and

    shape.

    Mucous plugs in peripheral bronchi canbe dislodged allowing better lungexpansion.

    ERECT POSTURE BECAUSE:

    Greater depth of thorax can be achieved.

    The heart is shown in usual workingcondition and size.

    Pneumothorax and pleural effusion canbe detected.

    Pneumoperitoneum is easy to detect. Air fluid levels in lungs/pleura can be

    shown.
