Grant Consultation/Authorship/Collaboration with Public Schools enhancing research and effective practices Through each of these grants I was able to support our graduate students in the program, and in some cases graduate students from other departments. There were teachers trained in bilingual/ESL; doctoral and masters students gathered research for dissertations and theses; doctoral and masters students were able to gain grant directing, curriculum development, and assessment experiences for second language learners. Above all, this positively assisted the second language learning children and their parents in the state of Texas. Lara-Alecio, R. & Sproule, J. Reading Improvement Grant. Mendel Elementary, Aldine ISD and

Texas Education Agency. Academic Year 2000, $149, 995. Contracted with Texas A&M University, Office of Bilingual/ESL, EDCI Department to deliver course work for certification in Bilingual/ESL Programs. Twenty in-service bilingual/ESL teachers from two elementary schools, Aldine ISD, were registered under EDCI 611 for their bilingual/ESL certification. Tuition, Fees, and Registration for those 20 in-service teachers benefited the Department, College and University with above $ 15,000.
